Title: The City (OOC, closed until further notice)
Post by: Boog on May 04, 2009, 05:39:51 PM
In an abandoned theater, a man in a ragged coat sits in an overstuffed armchair on a stage. He seems abnormally pleased with himself.
"Glad you lot could make it," He grins, "And welcome to the show."
"Far to the west there's a city," he continues, "That nobody knows the full extent of. It's cursed six ways to sunday, bloody gargantuan, and nobody knows who built it or who emptied it out. Heavy magic went down there, but so did other things that mages can't even identify. Can't be that old, some streets look as though they couldn't be more than fifty years old. Some look even more recent. There's a few towns near it that've built their whole economies around the floods of adventurers, sightseers and damn strange folk who'd come from all over to see it, but the thing about leaving a mystery unsolved long enough is that eventually, people lose interest. Most of those towns are abandoned now, easily mistaken for part of the ruins proper, and the only one still doing well enough to be worth mentioning is Oldhill. Even then, it's nowhere near as successful as it used to be. Down the road from that, marking what's probably the midway point between the city and the town, is the Last Chance inn. It's run by an orangutan by the name of Moze, who doesn't bother warning adventurers to 'turn back now' anymore. Occassionally he even gives tours of the city, albeit only a few blocks in and NEVER at night." The man leans back in his chair and stretches. "See, the city sends out calls, wants to bring people in. A child wanders in, its parents follow, people follow them. Majority of the time they don't come back out, or come out half mad, or are dumb enough to go back in after. Just send out the right call at the right time, in someone's dreams or the right ache in their bones, let the right rumor get out about untold riches hidden in a dangerous city..." The man gets up and wanders offstage, "And just WATCH the adventurers line up."

"And now you've met the management. Charming, huh?" A frog with a blotchy orange and black skin tone that usually means 'poison' waves once, sitting in the second row of the theater with his feet propped up on the first. He turns back toward the audience and gives a broad, practiced smile. "The show's looking for players, and that means all you. Freeform style of thing, and a world that ain't too limiting. Essentially furrae standard, save for humans being more of an exotic foreign oddity than a thing of myth. What else should you know... Ah. This thing's rated Mature for strong language, horror, violence, sexual content, and generally things you wouldn't let your little old granny know you loved ever so much in the cockles of your heart. The city is a nasty place," The frog gives a tight-lipped smile, "Trust me. There was more, one sec." He fishes a notepad out of his pocket and flips through the pages, "Ah, right. Look before you leap, if it walks like a drake and talks like a drake then keep in mind drakes don't talk, what you don't know will probably kill you, and whatever you do don't pan, pan..." The frog swallows, eyes fixing on something behind the audience. "... Panic."
The lights go out. When they come back on the frog is gone. The seats in the area he was sitting in are rotted and fallen apart. There's a stack of papers for filling out character sheets at the edge of the stage, along with a small box with a slit in it. Next to the box there is a sign.

From the management.
1) Godmodders will be mocked on sight. Fae and tri-wing cubi, this means you.
2) Due to balancing issues in terms of player abilities, no firearms from after about 1920 may be permitted. There may be an exception made for pistols, on the basis that you're not about to bring down a building with one.
3) All characters must be from this dimension, please. In addition to other storyline related issues, it's simply too much of a hassle to get working papers for them.
4) Do not attempt to eat this sign.

*Looks over the character sheet.  Noses it.  Then chews on it*

Sounds interesting.  Interesting indeed.  I'm going to ponder a character to throw into the mix.

Interested, but lacking time, going on holiday, and probably won't be able to join in for several months.

Besides, I've already got TotC, HC, and ER on the burner, even if ER is on hiatus.

Also agreeing the timing is good. I'll keep an eye on this, ponder an actual character creation later on.

Hmmmm. I am very, very intrigued, and it's very possible I'll have the free time once finals are over - course, I'll be getting another summer job, but if I can squeeze this in, I will.

Looks interesting, albiet vague. I'm very pressed on time for the next two weeks or so, but after that, I might be interested. Do we have any rules as to what is or is not possible with the magical system? I was thinking of reviving the original Corgatha character, who was designed for a WoT setting. Would that sort of thing work here?

Post by: Lisky on May 05, 2009, 12:05:17 AM
After getting approval from Boog, i christen this party as the first official member

Name: Edaric Ahnasazi (Clan)

Gender:Male

Species/Race: Leopard/Cubi

Age: 521

Physical Description: Standing at a rather tall 6', Edaric is thin, lithe, athletic, and appears well muscled.  He has a longer than usual tail that were it to fall limp, would drag across the ground. His fur is creme/orange for primary coat with a slightly off-white almost silver undercoat running across his mid chest, belly, the inside of his legs, and around the inside third of his tail. He is  speckled with black spots all over.  He wears his cephalic hair in a bit of a mess, although kept out of his eyes.  The hair is of a more coppery brownish/blond, than the rest of his body fur.  He has blue eyes, a rather massive 18 foot wingspan, and his clan mark is bright red, on his mid left pectoral, it appears to be a snake crawling up a scythe.  His clothing consists of a black cloak, and a lightweight outfit consisting of a from fitting cottom shirt, and a pair of loose fitting cotton pants (this is his primary clothing).  His only other belongings appear to be a small bag of coins, a water bladder, and a small cloth sack full of some type of jerky... what the dried meat is from is anyone's guess... but it is quite tasty for a snack...

Personality:  Being a cubi, Ed is usually able to play into people expectations, furthermore being a rogue, he's more or less a pathological liar with enough charisma to get away with most casual bluffs.  When he is telling the truth, it's very difficult to gauge, as he's hidden his tells well.  Somewhat aloof, he appears rather casual in his appearance and swagger, and although that's his natural way of acting, those who know him have a tough time telling act for true self. He has a horrible case of wanderlust, and his relationship decisions seem more made out of whimsy than any other way.

History: Nothing traumatic in his childhood, he grew up as a normal child, until his father told him the total truth and sent him off to a 'proper' school.  Spending close to 500 years at SAIA, Edaric has learned many shapeshifting techniques, along with have a true mastery of the use of his wings.  Being able to appear as anyone is an exceedingly useful ability for a thief, and the fact that he can manipulate his wings with at least as great of skill as many thieves can there hands makes him a rather interesting character to try and stop when he truly wants something.  Besides many expected techniques, he also learned to use his wings for combat.  Outside of SAIA he has adapted to the post educational world well, though finds himself in near constant search of adventure and excitement.

Combat Abilities: Wings can form long and dangerous tentacles, reaching further than his actual wings, the number of tentacles depends on the distance to his opponent, the further the distance, the fewer the attacks.  At medium and cloes range this allow him to attack from many directions at once, at fairly long range (50 feet) he can send but a pair of tendrils after a target.

Above and Beyond his physical abilities, Ed has a bit of knack for shadow based magic both in creating illusions, and forging weapons.  He himself carries no weapons, as he can form them through shapeshifting or shadow magic almost as fast as drawing a carried weapon.  This lack of weight allows him to be an exceedingly agile opponent, and very dangerous if you fall into his range.  He prefers forming small bolts of pure darkness which, upon contact either pierce or explode, though has been seen forming spears and swords as well.  However, Ed's preference for combat appears to be his winged tentacles and shapeshifting his hands into claws.

He is a rather stealthy fellow, making little noise while walking or moving, his lack of shoes, or any real gear for that matter, means the only noise you might here is his breathing, and his shapeshifting abilities allow him to change both him, and his clothing's color almost on whim allowing him to visually blend into many environments.

Other abilities of note: Lock Picking, Slight of Hand, Pick Pocketing, Minor telekinesis, detect magic, (natural ability) Thought Reading, mind shield, Shape-Shifting (becoming someone else completely), shadow magic, wings can form tools... allowing him again to lower the weight he has to carry.  Emotional affinities for confusion and pain.  His shapeshifting abilities go above and beyond just appearing as other people, given proper time and concentration, while standing still Ed can appear as inanimate objects as well, though the concentration required to perform such acts is exceedingly taxing and can only be maintained for a very limited amount of time (around 10 minutes, give or take a few additional minutes depending on the complexity of the object).

Trivia: Although somewhat deceptive, he is usually fairly good natured... Much like anyone Edaric has some personality quirks

At one point after leaving SAIA, Edaric crashed a duke's party disguised as the duke's brother... he managed to bluff his way into staying.  When the duke's brother actually did show up, he merely changed his appearance to that of other party goers and continued to enjoyed the evening with no one being the wiser.

-------------------

Name: Andrace Kithara
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Race: Being
Species: Lion

Physical Description

Height: 6' 6"
Weight: 220lb.
Build: Tall and muscular.
Eyes: Dark golden-brown.
Hair: Fiery red, shoulder length.
Fur Colour: Tawny buff all over, lighter on front, with tail tuft the same colour as her hair.
Distinguishing features: A tall and statuesque lioness, Andrace looks like she could juggle Dragons. Her features are more striking than attractive, her hair is loose, shoulder length and usually at least a little untidy. The rest of her fur is well groomed, though. Andrace's favourite adventuring outfit is a jerkin, shirt and trousers in black/red leather and silk. Depending on what she's wearing (none are visible in the above outfit), some scars can be seen; on her right thigh, stomach, left forearm and back. There's a small silver ring with dangling spikes in her right ear, and another mounting a thumb-sized green feather in her left ear.

Personality: Usually friendly and boisterous. Loud, even (especially after a drink or three). Not just the life and soul of the party, if she's really determined to have a good time she can be the regressed past lives and afterlife of the party as well. Occasionally feels the need to show off, usually when she's comfortable with family or friends. Can seem a bit flirty at times, but isn't really serious about it. Most of the time. Can become quite ruthless if necessary: she's no dewy-eyed dreamer.

History: One look at Andrace will tell you what she is: an adventurer. Andrace comes from the Kithara, a moderately successful (i.e. still alive and in one piece... mostly... by the time they retire) extended family of adventurers. Trained by her family since she was old enough to stalk a Pygmy Shrew, Andrace learned a variety of weapon styles and fighting techniques.
By the time she was a teenager, she was coming along on some of her family's more straightforward jobs, and proved herself an effective and (when the mood — i.e. teen angst and hormones — struck her) a downright scary fighter. In the four years since she started out on her own, she's done a little bit of most things: courier, guard, bandit suppression, anti-critter patrols, bounty hunting, etc.
She tries to avoid taking on dubious jobs, and apart from one incredibly embarassing exception, she's mostly succeeded in this.
Both of Andrace's current main weapons have been obtained during her solo career. The sword was the first thing she bought with money she earned all on her own, and the gun was "acquired" in the aftermath — and rubble — of a particularly spectacular and successful bad-guy-disposal job.

Combat Abilities: An experienced fighter, Andrace is at least somewhat competent with most types of weapon. If it has sharp pointy bits, can shoot, be thrown or used to hit things (and people), she can pick it up and immediately start beating on some thoroughly deserving monster or rogue Creature. With her favourite weapons, though, she's highly skilled. For close combat she has a large two-handed greatsword (a zweihänder) and, for longer ranges and those hard-to-shift critters, a gun. Considering her size and strength, this almost counts as a small cannon. The ammo is expensive and hard to find, so Andrace only uses the gun very much as a last resort.
Knives of various sizes are tucked away, often in the most surprising places, in hidden pockets in her clothes. Some of them are shaped and balanced for throwing. Andrace doesn't wear armour, although her dense fur and usual leather jerkin do give some protection. She relies on agility and speed to avoid being injured, and stamina to keep going if she is. As a last resort, she'll use her claws and teeth to best effect.
Neither of her main weapons has any sort of magical enhancement, or a fancy name. One of them's sharp and pointy, the other goes "bang" — in Andrace's hands, that's quite enough. She does, though, have a spare magazine stored securely in her backpack, with three bullets left in it. These were specially treated as a birthday present by Andrace's younger sister Despina, a mage. The effects seem to be part high explosive, part napalm, part very-bad-luck hex, and possibly (although it's not easy to tell on top of the other effects) a quick-acting deadly poison. Despina is not someone you want to have PO'd at you.

Other Abilities: Andrace has a small amount of magical talent. This limits what she can do, but she's concentrated on learning a few useful spells and exploring those limits, e.g. fire-lighting, magical light, and low-level healing. This last is not enough to heal injuries completely, but it can reduce bleeding, pain, and the chance of infection.

Strengths: Strong. Stamina by the bucketload. Quick-thinking and confident when she has to come up with a plan in a hurry.

Weaknesses: Considering her height and muscles, Andrace is not most people's vision of "svelte and dainty". Her natural feline agility helps in small spaces, but she can get stuck if she's not careful. Sometimes jumps into things with great enthusiasm, but "makes it up as she goes along" to get out of them.

Trivia: Andrace needs to watch her diet, she's one of those people who can gain a pound or two just by looking at a sticky sweet dessert. She also needs to exercise regularly to keep those muscles.
In addition to the knives intended as weapons, Andrace has a range of useful tools tucked away in hidden pockets all over her clothes: lockpicks, wires, saws, tiny blades etc. There's a lot of them. Not (quite) enough to give her clothes extra armour protection, but they are noticeably heavier than they should be, even after you take all the knives out.
Apart from her never-quite-tidy hair, Andrace is a little vain about her appearance. She's picked up several scars in her years of adventuring, but she's had most of them completely healed, apart from a few suitable to wrap a good yarn around. (One or two are in places only very close friends get to see...)

Let me know if this is good enough, or if anything needs adjusting.  It's a work in progress as far as I'm concerned.  If you like it though, that's good enough for me.

==========================

Name: Mao Laoren

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Species/Race: Feline-Hare hybrid/Nictarl (being)

Physical Description:

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 210lbs.

Eyes:  His eyes are a distinctive red (common among hares) but rarely appear to be open, though his vision seems fine.

Hair: Short cropped, and spiky white with black tips.

Fur:  Mostly white with black sections that form somewhat ornate looking shapes.

Distinguishing Features:  Long ears that are common to his race with simple looking 'bracelets' on them.  For the most part, the clothing he wears is light and baggy, allowing for freedom of movement.  Currently he is sporting a loose fitting robe/sash that exposes his right side with a pair of baggy pants and sandals.  The pants are held up with a simple red sash, fitting in between the yellow robe/sash and brown pants.

Personality:

Mao is generally carefree, going where ever the winds may take him, often in hopes of finding his next meal or a new friend.  Like everyone he has his demons, but for the most part he's stable.  This however is only the surface of Mao.  Mao has a large portion of himself locked away in his subconscious.  This part is all of the things that he never learned to control.  When this part gets free Mao becomes driven only by his more primal instincts and becomes as much a risk to others as he is to himself.  To date, this has only happened twice.  During these times Mao has become seemingly unpredictable, though still clearly aware, and doesn't distinguish between 'friend' or 'foe'.  It's similar to a Berserk status but with a heightened level of awareness and intelligence, though still prone to making mistakes commonly associated with someone who has gone Berserk (such as performing high risk attacks that the person would normally not consider unless desperate).

History:

Mao has been a wandering adventurer for about 9 years at this point, with his past before that not being something he cares to talk about much.  Not out of any real pain for it (though it was painful at the time) but rather because it's in the past and not something he cares to dwell on.  The last 9 years have been filled with constant traveling and seeing the world, while taking jobs so he can keep his supplies up.  He doesn't really know where he's going or why, and frankly, he doesn't care.

Combat Abilities:
Mao would be considered a 'glass cannon'.  He studied in the Ahn'ten style of martial arts which focuses on evasion and fast, devastating attacks.  The theory behind this is that the best fight is the one that was over before anyone gets seriously hurt.  The draw back of this is that practitioners are rarely ever used to taking heavy blows.  Mao never completed his training but has made up for this during his time as a vagabond adventurer by working on his stealth abilities.  Mao generally wields a staff, though will switch to a pair of hooded katars if he feels that a more lethal approach is required.
To compliment his style of combat, Mao has learned a few Chi (Life Energy) techniques.  These include the ability to maintain an increased speed for short bursts (the longest it's possible to maintain would be 1 hour, and the effects of doing so could be devastating) and the ability to temporarily harden parts of his body (small parts, forearm, fist, small sections of his chest, etc) to the consistency of dense rock.  The second ability is primarily meant to protect the part he is attacking with while using his high speed burst, but it does have some obvious defensive capabilities, though it's brief duration (5 seconds) limits that.  The caveat to all of these abilities is that they require concentration and the energy to maintain them.  If Mao is tired, hungry, or not in a right or stable mind his ability to use them diminishes.  This does not apply when his subconscious has emerged as he is still quite aware and able to understand himself and his surroundings (though the likely hood of him overusing and/or using them improperly is much higher).

Other abilities of note:

Mao doesn't need eyes to see.  By sensing the flow of the different types of energies he can feel the life around him.  The quality of this however diminishes over distance.  Within 10 meters, the forms would be the equivalent of wire frames with points that highlight the different vital areas on a living being.  At the furthest he can see (same as normal eyes) he can merely see little specs of light, though the colors and types are still distinguishable.  This view is in 360 degrees but, like cubi mind reading, can be a lot to take in and so generally it is only focused on a smaller area at any given time.

this is my second Irish character...seeing as i already have on in an active Rp i would have played Ian(remember him boog?) but i wanted to get this guy on paper and play test him.

Name: Carrik (the rock) 'O Brian

Gender: Unabashedly dude like

Species/Race: Grizzly/ Were

Physical Description: Tougher than Chuck Norris this intimidating man stands 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds mostly muscle.
Hybrid fur pattern is golden brown coat with tan highlights
Human form is caucasian with brown hair with really bad tan lines.
He generally wears old band shirts with baggy jeans.

Personality: He's tougher than Chuck and he knows it. Always spoiling for a fight, it takes little to set him off. When he isnt fighting or having a good time with friends he's playing his fiddle, though he's a little more than mediochre, he's much better drunk.

History: Born in Ireland he set out to America to make a name for himself in the irish punk rock scene....When that didn't pan out he realized he didn't have enough money to get home so he found a niche in the north east he could call home. He has since become a soldier of fortune.

Combat Abilities: Minor self regeneration
                          Proficient with a rifle
                          Capable with pistols
Excels in the street fighting style

Other abilities of note:Thick hide(feels less pain then most)
                                   Street wise

Trivia:   Afraid of smoke, heights and stuffed pink gorrillas(dont ask)

Fond of explosions, water and ladies that wear citrus like perfume.

Hrmmmmmm. Looks interesting. Not sure though, since this would be my first RP evar and I'm not sure that this would be a n00b friendly deal. Its a possibility.

Well, if you're not sure then send me your character sheet and I'll let you know. I don't know how newb-friendly it would be compared to others, but any questions you have or things you don't get I'd be happy to help you with.

Name: Ben Wildeyes
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Fox Being
Physical Description: A gray fox of a medium build.  Goes around with blue pants and a dark gray jacket and blue eyes.

Personality: Ben is a pleasant fellow, he enjoys chatting with people that he knows.  Though often people are reluctant to approach because of his giant rifle.  He is also has to know how everything works.  He is prone to disassembling everything he comes across.
History:  He did stuff.  It happened.  Stuff is defined primarily by his many misadventures trying to rebuild something he took apart and couldn't quite get it back together.

Combat Abilities:
Giant rifle.  Think Mauser 98K battle rifle.  5 shots bolt action rifle.  It is his baby.  You do not want to upset baby. Baby packs a a punch even 1 km away.
large knife.  Because the large rifle is sometimes too large.
Small bombs.  Often improvised on the spot.  Not terribly effective, but still an explosive.

Other abilities of note:
Technology skills: Ben has been disassembling and reassembling about anything he can get his hands on for his whole life.  It is much like a compulsion for him.  Because of this he often can be seen pulling things apart and rebuilding them, 'better'.  For a given definition of better.  This also leads him to be able to do thing like pick locks, disarm bombs, and generally disable traps.

Trivia:
Ben really don't know what he is doing with his life.  He is just out to figure out how everything works.  This is partly what drives him to mysterious ruins and the like.

Name:Giles Monterrey
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Human
Age: 42

Physical Description

Height: 6'4''
Weight: 300 / 370lbs. (approximately 70lbs. of plate armor in addition)
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Short and black
Distinguishing features: Imposing isn't quite the right word for Giles. A behemoth of a man, he towers over most that he meets, both in height and in bulk, but this isn't what one tends to notice about him first. Covered from head to toe in a suit of charcoal-black plate armor, a sinuous golden salamander shining on the breastplate, Giles is the sort of person that tends to stick out. Under normal circumstances, he tends to have an easy smile, blue eyes, and oddly white teeth that stand in contrast with his eternally ashy-blue face.

Personality: Laughs easily, takes offense easy, and makes friends and enemies easy. If left alone, he tends to be quiet, but has a boisterous nature that tends to flare up in relation to the amount of alcohol in his system at a given time. Wears his emotions on his iron-cuffed sleeve, and not unsurprisingly, his emotions tend to be very intense. Tends to have a problem with anger bordering on the unstable.

History: A former paladin, Giles is being hunted by the very order that he left. The City offers him respite - no one is quite crazy enough to follow him there.

Combat Abilities: First and foremost, Giles is an experienced armored fighter. He knows how to move, fight, and use heavy armor as both a shield and a weapon, and his speed and dexterity in the encumbering suit can be surprising. He is equally as proficient with the spear he carries on his back - an enchantment causes the head to eternally burn red-hot. It is purported that the spear also drips blood, although it may not have seen battle for many weeks.
These are, however, supplements to his true abilities, which encompass the ritual manipulation of energy, specifically in the form of heat. Through motion, he can both transfer heat from objects that already contain it, and given time can generate his own heat far in excess to the proportion that he should be able to gather from his own body. He can use this energy in myriad ways - to increase the ambient temperature, melt things in close proximity to himself, or light the tobacco in his pipe, but the majority of the time he uses to to generate spontaneous conflagration of the surrounding area. Fireballs, incineration of targets, and walls of fire all common tactics, but given time he can create swirling infernos or engulf entire areas in a sea of fire.
Giles tends to favor the direct application of heat energy, but he isn't above using more inventive methods of heat manipulation to accomplish his goals either.

Other abilities of note: Is an accomplished drinker, smoker, and general ne'erdowell. Can burn off the alcohol in his body rapidly in case he's made himself too drunk and needs to sober up fast. This doesn't tend to go well for people too close to him at the time. Has the ability to maintain his gear to the extent that any soldier would, although he is no craftsman. Is completely immune to heat, and the heat energy that he throws around.

Trivia: At one point was devoutly religious. He tends to recall some of the more interesting passages he's come across in the midst of battle. When he starts manipulating a great deal of heat, his eyes tend to get spots of red, growing as he continues his manipulations until eventually covering the entire iris. Fades away as the manipulations do.

Post by: Gareeku on May 07, 2009, 04:53:05 PM
It's rather a case of copy and paster for this profile I'm afraid. Sorry.

Name: Gareeku Manoko

Race: Being

Gender: Male

Species: White-furred Wolf (see avatar)

Physical Description: (see avatar) - Medium length black spiky hair; spiked out up and back, save for near the front where various bangs of hair of various length cascade down his forehead, styled in a slight middle parting (though they do not extend further than eye level). (The hair is similar to Jin Kazama's from the Tekken series of fighting games.)

However, The hair isn't exactly the same. Just below the part of the hair that spikes out and back on the back of his head is an area of longer hair that reaches down to around the same level as his biceps. This area is usually (but doesn't have to be) tied together in a ponytail by a long thin strand of fabric (like the one that Ken uses in the Street Fighter Alpha series - http://www.fightersgeneration.com/characters2/ken-mshvs.jpg).

Clothing: A set of deep Blue sleeveless gi top and pants, a black martial arts belt, with a sheathed Katana fastened to his side, and sandals on his feet. He also wears red fingerless gloves, which begin just below his elbow on his forearm. At the end of his gloves (where it stops just before the elbow) and on his wrists are thin bands of metal which seemingly hold the gloves in place. He also wears a brown hooded cloak over the top of his clothes.

Combat Abilities: Master of the sword and martial arts. Has also intricate knowledge and mastery of 'soul energy', as well as being quite talented in fire and ice magic.

History: (Taken from older RPs because at this time I don't have the energy to rewrite it) - Gareeku was born to a Being father and a Succubus mother, and is oddly enough a rather unique creature, in that while he does not possess the wings of a cubi, he does share a few of their traits, such as the lifespan and heightened senses of a cubi. Despite this, Gareeku is still a being, and so shares their needs for food, drink and sleep.
Having met Gareeku's adventurer father, an arctic wolf Being, just after leaving SAIA, Gareeku's mother, a powerful vixen succubus named Alica Hannack, soon fell in love with him and bore a child; Gareeku Manoko. Gareeku had a relatively normal upbringing with two loving parents in a small town where various races lived together in harmony, learning martial arts and the art of magic from his father from a young age. However, Gareeku's happy life would soon change. When he was 16, the boy discovered that his father had been brutally murdered by a group of demons who had ambushed Siriso as he ventured out on a quest. Swearing revenge, Gareeku carried on learning the ways of combat while taking care of his grief-stricken mother up until he was 18, when he ventured out on his first quest, learning of a group of demons that were terrorizing various nearby towns
Upon arriving at one of the towns, Gareeku came face to face with the group; the same group that has murdered his father. A long and hard battle commenced, the demon group shocked at how powerful what they considered as the "lowly being" was. Eventually Gareeku managed to slay the group, though the cuts and bruises scattered all over his body showed that it was by far no easy victory. The battle would be the first of many in Gareeku's career as an adventurer.
When he was 21, Gareeku returned from a quest to find that his mother had disappeared. Fearing the worst, Gareeku set out to travel the world to look for her. Eventually, he found that she was still alive, much to his relief, and was residing in a Cubi town, Gareeku choosing to continue his adventuring career as he knew she was safe from any attack in Harkhun.

For a long time, Gareeku has become somewhat of a mysterious figure. Many have tried to seek him out, either just to meet him or fight him. Whatever their motives, however, he had been notoriously hard to find. Not much is known about him these days, whether he or his family is still alive.

Trivia: When he can be bothered, Gareeku is quite the cook. Excelling in chicken and pasta dishes in particular.

Approved, posting here.

Name: Payden Velasquez
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Human/Caucasian
Physical description: Though reasonably tall and near the peak of physical fitness (to the tune of 6' 2", 198 pounds), Payden's middle-aged figure doesn't offer much to look at. Slightly wrinkled, faded brown crewcut, a square jaw, and a flat nose all lend to a fairly ugly visage; the only not-homely-part are the coal-black eyes. Outfits vary from season to season, but he mostly gravitates towards fatigues, jackets, and vests, particularly those padded and reinforced with leather and metal plating. Field packs and bandoleers also find their way into his ensembles.

Personality: To Payden, first impressions are everything. Those who look and act like thugs will receive an unpleasant response, if any at all, while anyone with a more respectable appearance will be treated amicably. Outside of first meetings, he tends to be frank, and will keep to himself unless approached or goaded into telling personal anecdotes. Particularly disdainful towards the younger generation, or at least those that act like they belong to it.

History: The last in a family of wandering sheriffs, Payden has spent much of his life training, protecting, and enforcing in any village that will take him. In recent years, these stints have gone from lasting several months at a time to only a few weeks as bandit raids inevitably give way to Creature rampages, forcing him to step down in favor of young adventurers, many of whom will gladly take the challenge just to build up reputation for themselves. Rather than serve under anyone else's constabulary, Payden has continued to seek out positions as sole arbiter of law in several small towns, but to no avail.
Without a community to boss around or a title as anything grander than a lawman, Payden has taken to the cursed city to loot whatever he can, hopefully enough to retire on.

Combat Abilities: Honed from years of busting delinquent skulls, Payden is particularly adept at close combat and using whatever blunt instrument he can find (when a baton isn't readily available). He is equally capable at a distance, equipped with a small-caliber repeating rifle and a slightly higher caliber revolver. Can take a few hits thanks to his hardy lifestyle, but is fairly limited by his mortal vitality.

Other abilities: Wound treatment, scavenging, repair, crisis control, and other minor survival talents.

Trivia: Plays the harmonica, often times to relieve stress.
Enjoys the rigors of weapon maintenance, often taking his weapons apart and putting them back together if for no other reason than to make sure each piece is in place.
(More an author note but still trivia) General theme. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDACw8hu2lQ&feature=related)

Name: Alexandria Montegu
Age: 36
Race: half angel
Species: grey squirrel
Family: While she is pretty sure she has family she doesn't know any of them, having been placed with the Gutenberg Order when very young.

Hair: fire engine red, cut short
Eyes: black
Fur Coloration: light grey
Appearance: 5'8" and 160lb. Rather square and solid looking but some of it is due to her extra thick fur from her chinchilla side. Wears robes of her order consisting of a dark blue inner robe and a grey outer robe, embroidered in black. Around her neck she wears a flat, elongated oval of bone, a bookbinding tool called a bonefolder, which is the symbol of the Gutenbergs. At her waist is a small bag containing papers and a pen.

Combat Abilities: Reasonably strong magic user due to her heritage.
Strengths: trained from childhood as a magic user she is well trained with an emphasis on paper magic. A bit of origami or a quick symbol drawn on paper can create objects. Her staff is spelled to increase her light magic skills and has healing abilities of it's own.
Weaknesses: Not a great fighter. Not much ability beyond basic self defense
Weapon(s) : While she is armed with a small hammer and knife they are more symbolic of her order than useful for anything besides self defense. She is more likely to hit out with her staff than draw either one. This isn't quarterstaff skills but plain old bludgeoning. Not really a weapon but her magical grimoire is semi-sentient and prone to bite.

History: The child of a chinchilla angel and a being squirrel she has no indications of her creature heritage aside from her bright hair and slightly above average magical ability. One of five children she has no idea why her parents left her at the mage school run by the Order of the Gutenbergs when she was seven, never returning. Alex would like to find out some day why they left her and what happened to her siblings. The Order runs a magic school focused on the preservation, duplication, and distribution of books and have one of the largest libraries in Furae. Alex showed a natural affinity for the magic system and has risen to the rank of Collection Development Librarian. This means she travels, hunting out books to take back to the library, some of which are quite dangerous bits of magic.

Disposition: Raised in the cloistered environment of the order her social skills are a bit formal and stuffy.

Trivia: It's cliche  but she loves nuts and always has a pocket full. Her grimoire is named Snappy, and he likes an occasional snack.

Name: Kyirri Teekay
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Kangaroo Rat/Being

Physical Description:
Kyirri stands around 3 foot 2. His skin tone is incredibly pale, as if he had spent his entire life in a cave. His eyes also look quite abnormal, his iris looks as though it has been shrunk, and it looks a sickly teal instead of a more vibrant green. He keeps his black cephalic hair short, and somewhat messy. His tail is around 3 feet long as well, with a black hairy tip to the end.
Generally, he wears blue pants, a blue shirt, a black coat, black gloves, and sturdy looking black shoes. His coat's interior has pockets in which he can easily hide his things, notably his pistol. His shirt's collar comes up out of his coat. In general, his clothes look plain, and have an inexpensive appearance to them. He makes sure that everything from his neck down is covered.

Personality:
Kyirri almost always retains a polite demeanor when spoken to, and almost never loses his self control.  Regardless, he doesn't try to get close with anyone, and he is extremely evasive when he is pressed to talking about himself. He is very serious about fulfilling any obligations he might be under, though he does his best not to put himself in a situation where he might be indebted to someone. He's quiet, reclusive, somewhat afraid of large crowds.  Regardless, Kyirri has a rather bitter disposition on life, and is prone to fits of wallowing in self pity, as well as retaining an air of pessimism whenever faced with life threatening situations.

History:
Kyirri led a fairly normal life, loving parents, good schooling, seemingly set for life, until one day when he was 16. He found out that his parents had been soul-murdered. Kyirri was left with almost nothing, family, belongings, and his house was soon taken to pay off debts. He disappeared for a month, in search of his parents' killers, a search which came to no avail. He later found himself elsewhere, scraping off a meager existence, working low paying jobs while still trying to pay for a decent education and the costs of feeding himself. He later, after being trained to wield firearms effectively, and learned basic survival skills as well, became an adventurer, and has been so for several years. However, he hasn't been a very successful one, and he's lost a lot of friends on his travels. He barely has any wealth to his name, and lives off an extremely frugal life. Kyirri is incredibly tight lipped on the details of what he was doing through that month he disappeared, or his adventuring career, partly because it's so bitter and he doesn't want a reminder of the events that occurred, or the life that he lost.

Combat Abilities:
Kyirri has deadly accuracy with his pistol, and is quite agile. However, he doesn't have any magical abilities and is a poor close-quarters combatant. He's quite good at hiding, and move along most surfaces without making much sound. If he's out to kill someone, he prefers to attack undetected. If he's in a pitched fight, he tries to keep a safe distance away from his foes, stay behind cover, shoot, and reload without too much fear of retaliation.

Other abilities of note:
None of note.

Trivia:
Kyirri does not radiate emotions. Cubi would be able to detect this anomaly immediately.
Despite having the same first name, he is not the same Kyirri that appears in Shattered Innocence.

Possessions:
A pistol, some ammunition, his clothing, a little bit of money, a small vial of healing salve.
Title: Re: The City (OOC, open to new members)
Post by: Valynth on May 08, 2009, 08:23:20 AM
What the heck, may as well try something new.  I'll try submitting my flag character to see how he'll fit in.

Name:  Valynth
Gender:  Male
Species/race:  Human, not of this dimension.
Age:  Time is relative as one travels dimensions, but suffice to say he's probably older than this strand of probability.

Physical description:
Valynth stands at 6 foot 5 inches.  His skin is a moderate tan though his torso is only lightly tanned.  His remaining eye is hazel, green with flecks of yellow and he wears and eye-patch over his right eye.  He is distinctly muscular, but is usually wearing a grayish green plate mail with ceramic lining so it isn't usually noticed.  When not in armor, his brown curly hair and slight constant stubble allow him to disappear into almost any crowd of working humans if it wasn't for his scars.  His body is an almost ever changing litany of scars, mostly on his arms and a few on his torso.  The only two scars of any true note are on his head, a vertical slash running though his removed eye and a horizontal slash starting high above his right eye and ending near his left.  Though he usually appears unarmed, he can summon a black blade to his hand at a moment's notice.

Personality:
Practicality and survivability are high on his agenda, but he does have a habit of keeping "useful people" alive even after they've fullfilled their use.  Almost in contrast with his seeming kindness and willingness to work with others is his deep-seated cynicism about his current situation and the situation of others, making him incredibly savy in terms of personal relations.  Underneath this, or perhaps the cause of this, is a very tired, very old man who is constantly seeing patterns playing out in front of him that others don't even know are there until it's too late.

History:
Originally from a dimension whos time period reflected that of Rome and feudal Europe, Valynth was part of the elite northern guard of his homeland when the first unified barbarian force in nearly 100 years attacked.  Through the nobility conspiring against the king with the barbarians, Valynth's homeland was overrun.  It was in the initial fighting that Valynth lost his eye and gain several deep scars on his arm.  Fleeing with the princes on his former kingdom to an allied country to recover and rally a new army, Valynth learned that the barbarian leader had claimed leadership by wielding a legendary sword.  Having formerly met the leader, Valynth was suspicious about the authenticity of the sword and set out find the real one.  Much to his later regret, he found the "dark-black blade" and used it to end a duel against the ambitious barbarian leader and seize leadership of the horde.  Unfortunately once the kingdom was restored, Valynth paid the price for wielding the blade and was flung to a new dimension thus beginning his travel, kept eternally young by the power of the blade.

Combat abilities:
Valynth is an accomplished hand at almost all forms of weaponry and tactics, but some difficulty may ensue with higher-tech weapons since certain physics and biologics also seems to be a dimensional relative.  Despite his abilities, he prefers to use his swordsmanship, but will switch to other weapons if it is necessary.

Other abilities:
Limited immortality:  Having been removed from time by the blade, Valynth does not age.

Slight speed and strength abnormality:  His home world is approximately 1.2x the gravity of current terranorms and would be unworthy of mentioning if he hadn't trained as a soldier most of his life.  It's still difficult to notice though.

Teleporting sword:  Anytime Valynth wants his sword, it instantly appears in his hand.

Vision augmentation?:  Valynth doesn't appear to suffer for want of an eye.  He says the blade seems to have filled that role on a subconscious level, but he can't actually see out of it and did have to compensate before he got the blade.

Psionic defense:  Unknown to Valynth, the sword is a spiritual black hole and semi-sentient.  Any attempts to actively probe Valynth's mind results in the sword diverting the probe into the chorus of billions upon billions of trapped spirits, most likely driving the would-be prober insane if they aren't also trapped in the blade.
Sub-note:  The blade also traps limbs on spirits, even spirits in living bodies.  The physical limbs can be reattached, but they won't work until the spirit recovers (a few weeks of extra healing time).  Until then the site feels numb with a slow subsideing as the spirit fills in.

Language breech:  Valynth can be heard and understood perfectly (except for proper names) in any language as though he was speaking fluently in the language most preferred by the individual.  This also allows Valynth to understand all languages as though they were his own.  This also allows him to read other languages, but other can't read his home script, which is what he uses in his journal.

Blade throwing:  Valynth can through his blade with starling accuracy up to 50 feet.  see vision augment.

Random dimensional teleport:  Valynth may jump dimensions in a few days or a few centuries, he never knows.  When he does, any other weapons he was carrying fall to the floor.

Dimensional parasite:  The sword is actually linked to Valynth's spirit and can not be removed without killing Valynth.  Once killed, Valynth's soul joins the others.

Parasitic loyalty:  The sword will refuse to cut Valynth.  Also, it will refuse to take another host until Valynth is dead.

Trivia:
Valynth keeps a small journal that he writes in regularly.  He claims this has kept him sane since he has to restart in every new dimension.

There are many devices throughout the dimensions that change gender.  Valynth has found 38 of them the hard way.

Valynth's name isn't the original one.  He has long since forgotten it and simply grabbed a word from another language.

Possesions:

Black sword:  This is actually an enter dimension compressed into a singularity through methods unknown.  It seems that a crazed sect of fundamentalists in a hyper-advanced society in the dimension caused it, how or why has never been known as their souls are trapped in the blade a virtually indecipherable from the cacophony of spirits that also reside in the blade.

Armor:  Titanium plate mail with ceramic underlay.  The ceramics were added by Valynth after the armor was forged.  It makes a powerful defense against sword, arrows, and most low calibre guns, but concussions are still felt.  Without the original crafters, the armor can't be repaired.

Now that I look at it he makes a better book character than a RP character.  Anyway, He's probably over-powered out the ass. So if he can't fit in, I'll just get back to booking him.

Alright, plainly I do need to add a few rules. I'm... A little surprised at the necessity of some of them, but se la ve. I'll be updating the main post in just a bit.

Rules are indeed a good thing.  Can't expect too many people to figure it out themselves. ;)

*snrk*  Anyway... *Grabs a form and fills it out*  Here's my thing.  What the heck, nothing's going anywhere. x3  Some of this is new, the rest is cut-and-paste.

Name: Aisha deCabre

Gender: Female

Species/Race: Black jaguar Being

Physical Description: Aisha stands at about 5'5'', with a strong and lean but sinewy build.  Being a panther, her fur is very deep black, though faint spots can be seen under the right angle of light.  Her long, backside-reaching hair is a darker black with gray streaks along a part of the fringe and over her ears.  It is tied in a braid, save for a few thick strands that frame her face.  Her eyes are crimson red.  She wears a different adventuring outfit in contrast to her old one: red trousers that are slit slightly on the sides, a belt that carries her boomerang, a red vest-top and a gray long-sleeved undershirt, with a lightweight navy-blue sleeveless jacket.  On her right wrist is an enchanted gold-and-silver bracer with a chain, and around her neck is an enchanted choker.  She hides her face and features with a hooded cape the color of blood.  Her sword, the Dragonblade, is carried on her back, and a deep green ring is seen around her tail (the whole outfit is drawn here. (http://risendecabre.deviantart.com/art/Leap-of-a-Fighter-Colored-104808232))

Personality: The first thing one will notice about Aisha is that she's secretive.  When asked her name, the most a stranger will get out of her is her first name, and otherwise refers to herself as "The Risen".  Aisha is mostly a loner, and likes to travel.  Getting to know her, one would also call her stubborn and sometimes quick to anger.  She carries a determined will and a bit of impatience, and if she starts something then she must always finish it; so her fights rarely end in a tie.  However, Aisha is also optimistic and doesn't believe in dwelling on the past.  Among friends, she is protective and sociable, and also carries a sense of humor, though sometimes a grim one.  The only race that she's quite biased against is the Demon race, although she tries to be attentive and think before acting on impulse.

History: Aisha was born and lived in her home village with her parents and older brother until she was twelve.  Her mother died of a sudden illness when she was seven or eight, and it is there that she started learning how to fight amidst regular studies.  Her brother went off when she was ten to fight in a war, and never came back.  A couple of years later, her village was attacked by demons, and her father was assassinated.  She fled the burning village and lingered on the border until she met the healer Rynkura, who taught her the finer arts of battle as well as some non-magic healing.  At age eighteen was when she started adventuring and bounty hunting, determined to find these demons and avenge her family, and perhaps even find her lost brother, should he be alive.

Combat Abilities: Aisha is quite fast and stealthy.  Her senses are finely tuned and heightened, so hardly anything, including enemy weaknesses, escapes her notice.  She is also good with a sword, the only close-range weaponry that she has much practice with.  Her specialty however is long-range weaponry...for example, she can easily either kill or paralyze someone with an arrow.  Aisha doesn't use magic herself, but she has a variety of enchanted weapons, mostly light-enchanted.  Her repertoire consists of: her favorite weapon, the bladed boomerang that can come back to her on spoken command if it doesn't anyway; a light-magic imbued bracer that helps to heal wounds and dispels curses; the Dragonblade, a sword which repels and is impervious to magic; and an emerald-colored ring on her tail that glows in the presence of dark magic.  Here, she also has a necklace that can call up a short-lived invisible shield and a hidden dagger with non-fatal poison properties.

Other abilities of note: As was noted before, being a bounty hunter, Aisha's ability is stealth.  She is as quiet as a shadow on her feet and just as dark.  Because of her (fairly diluted) Creature bloodline, she also has senses that are more heightened than that of a regular Being, such as hearing and smell.  She also knows as much about medicinal, alchemical, and first-aid healing as she does about combat, but rarely uses the skills.

Trivia: Despite being a bit hard-headed, Aisha is also curious by nature and likes to take time to think and solve problems.

Aisha enjoys times of peace just as often as a fight, and will even stop to help others if they are so in need of it.

Her greatest and only fear is being forced to see someone who she cares deeply for die, and not being able to do anything about it (however she also has a small concern of being buried alive deep underground).

Her favorite food is pizza with extra meat and cheese.

As a past-time, she likes to read, mostly things having to do with history, fantasy, and lore.

If Aisha were an instrument, she'd be a Spanish guitar.  As such, this piece here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3Lt0UdhrLo&feature=channel_page) is a candidate for theme music.

APPROVED!
Name: Unknown. Mainly goes by Hobo.
Gender:Male
Species/Race:Human/Mexikraut
Physical Description: Around 6ish feet. Kind of hard to tell, due to his habit of slouching or hunching over at any available opportunity. Medium build. Medium length black hair, generally tangled and wild. Maintains a beard and mustache of the bushy variety. Generally wears a tattered jacket on all occasions along with old torn up jeans and scuffed, dirty combat boots.
Personality: Quiet, rather reclusive. Generally more fond of a good drink than other people. This suits most other people just fine as they usually consider him to be slightly crazy. Shifts between angry and depressed when drunk.
History: Mostly unknown. Drifts from city to city, doing odd jobs in order to eat and drink. Occasionally hints arise that he may have been in some form of military for a period of time.
Combat Abilities: Standard barroom brawler. Hits hard and fights dirty. Will fight barehanded, but prefers either a knife or a busted bottle.  Is proficient with all manner of improvised weaponry. Knows how to dodge and avoid attacks rather well.
Other abilities of note: Slightly unhinged, he can be difficult to predict in any situation. Has also learned to panhandle with the best of them.
Trivia: Bugrit. Millennium hand and shrimp.

If I were to guess I'd say it's a blending of German and Hispanic backgrounds.

Indeed, Mexikraut is a mix of mexican/hispanic and german. A friend of mine coined the term in high school. Both of us happen to be mexikrauts, though Im more of a gigantic mutt, mexican, native american, french, german, british, etc etc. Mainly mexican/german though.

Seems to be perfectly OK at this end. Clicking on a link or right-click and "open as new tab" both open a new tab and go straight to the proper post in the thread.

Which browser and OS are you using? They're all supposed to work the same, at least at this level, but Firefox (which I use) and other Mozilla derivatives tend to keep to the offiical standards better, while MSIE can be... a bit idiosyncratic. Maybe there's something system-specific in the board's PHP code?

Widows XP and IE7. The weird thing is, I don't think it used to be a problem, and i can't be sure of when it started. there's another computer in the house that I was using before this one, and it worked fine. As far as i know, it's got the same stuff.
However, the computer I am using right now had a hard drive failure a little while ago (though it had been disconnected from the internet for quite some time before then), and since the hard drive's been replaced it's almost a new computer, and that's when I switched from the other computer to this one. I'm -not- sure, but the autoscroll may not have been working ever since this computer was put back into service (though, a long time ago, I was using this computer before the other, back when this computer was still connected, and it was fine then as well)

This is the only thing I can think of that might cause weirdness to happen. When you first started using the newly fixed computer, did WinXP ask to phone home to Redmond to re-activate? Major hardware changes should trigger this in XP and Vista systems. If it didn't happen, something might have gone wrong with reinstalling XP, perhaps causing a glitch in IE default behaviour. A long shot, I know, but that's all I can think of.

Whoever did probably re-validated either through phone or internet when the reinstalled. My guess is that either settings are weird, or you should switch to firefox. Back on topic, I think I have my character pretty well figured out, I'll post when I know it's finished.

I have a guess it might be settings, but it beats me as to what settings they could possibly be.

Another wierd thing is: the little "new" buttons to note that a topic has been posted in work fine. It's the links that don't work.

Name: Samuel Nerwet (Sam for short)

Gender: Male

Species/Race: Fox

Physical Description: 6' 3", 180lbs, hazel eyes, athletic, skinny. Wears normal street clothes, they tend to go towards the darker colors. Current outfit is black tee, black cargo pants, black tennis shoes. He's not trying to be dark and mysterious, he just randomly picked it out of his bag that morning when he got dressed for the assembly thing you just described happened. Also frequently wears headphones when in a public setting.

Personality: Meyers Briggs INTP. In other words, he's introverted, and likes to think abstractly. He is also, however, very intuitive. He will often do things by the seat of his pants, and almost never uses the standard approach to a problem. He is perceptive, and often notices things others miss, except if that is the consequences of his own actions.

History: Sam would say he had an okay life. It wasn't an easy life, but it wasn't a terrible one by any means. At the age of 2 his parents divorced because the young love had dried up, and the mother was tired of being stuck with responsibilities while the father played video games after returning from work. The mother goes on to find a man and after intercourse becomes pregnant with Sam's brother on the first date. Meanwhile, The father finds love with a fellow divorcee, who has a daughter. The mother goes through a loveless marriage for two years and is divorced by her husband when she is raped and does not inform him that she is now pregnant with an illegitimate child, Sam's second brother. Sam does not learn of the reason for the divorce, nor how his brother was conceived until he is twelve years old. The father, at this time, marries the woman he has been living with for the past ten years. Sam, all the while, is going through school. This is uneventful, save his lack of friends. The friends he does have are often as quirky as he is, and they get along great. While living with his mother, Sam sees the evidence of the strain that being a single mother of three children is a lot for her, financially and emotionally. He spends his first year and a half of high school with his father, but his step mother, who he never got along with, eventually becomes too much to put up with, and he leaves. He finishes his schooling while living with her, his two brothers, and his mothers new boyfriend. When the time comes he is understandably eager to leave and immediately sets out exploring the world around him. His main source of income is freelance Graphics Design work he does for local businesses in towns and cities he passes through.

Combat Abilities: Proficient in unarmed, blade, and crush weapons. High agility and stamina, but average strength means he can hit fast, but do mediocre damage per hit.

Other abilities of note: Highly resourceful by nature, he often uses his environment to his advantage. To him, anything is a viable weapon, or tool. Is well practiced in parkour and free running, and will often vault simple obstacles rather than walking around them.

Trivia: Sam is what I tried to make Izzie in BotM. I wanted to make this character unique though, so I came up with a new name. If I could do Izzie over again, I think this is more how I would make him. Sam's history looks in depth, but really that's pretty much my life, sans the stuff after leaving high school. (Plus the combat abilities :3 )

Name: Katherine "Keaton" Beatrix Imenwati-Jyraneth
Gender: Female
Age: 519
Species/Race: Black-backed jackal Succubus

Physical Description:
Height: 5'1"
Weight: 110 lbs
Eyes:  (Right) Brown, (Left) Pale brown. Lack of pigmentation is the side-effect of an inadequate metabolism, which prevented her from wholly regenerating that eye after she lost it too many times. Keaton keeps the eye the way it is for aesthetic purposes, even though she can alter the coloration through metamorphosis.
Hair: Dirty blonde. Shoulder-length, is often reduced for convenience.
Fur: Her base fur color is primarily a bright yellow, which is complemented by a pale, creamy color coating her muzzle and traveling from there to down her body and ending at the underside of her tail. The majority of her body is covered in black tribal markings, swirls and curls and jagged stripes that accentuate the curves of her form. The only consistent markings Keaton has memorized are two black crescents that overlap her eyes, creating an artful mask.
Distinguishing Features:  Keaton's wings and head-wings are structured to resemble a bat's, and possess the same patterning as the rest of her body. The outer frame is bordered with delicate yellow fringe that is ultimately dominated by swirled black markings. Two white, simplistically-styled eyes rest on the backs of her wings, emblazoned against the membrane. Her clan marking is located on the left side of her pelvis, right beside her hip - no one has seen what it looks like, and she adamantly protects it. Despite her consistently yellow-and-black color scheme, Keaton often wears casual, blood-red clothing.

Personality: At a first impression, Keaton is boisterous, tomboyish, playful, and even encouraging and sweet when in the presence of her companions. Lurking underneath that laidback exterior is a volatile and ruthless Succubus. Keaton's moods are capricious and unpredictable; she is able to control or decelerate the transitions of her feelings to some extent when she anticipates an explosive outburst, but this is not always foolproof. Discipline can only go so far, and Keaton's experiences have made her nearly unstable. As long as Keaton remains in a good mood, she won't verbally or physically attack indiscriminately; in fact, she behaves with an unexpected amount of friendliness. She can be quick-witted, she can be humorous, she can be sarcastic and competitive and kind and ambitious... but when she is infuriated, that all changes. Even when she's feeling upbeat, she retains a certain vindictive air to her habits.

Keaton pretends to act utterly inured to the sight of death. To an extent, she is. However, soul-stealing, although it has become a necessity for her, still disturbs her on a psychological level. She cannot shake the impression that she believes she is a weak and inconsequential person, and she thinks that soul-stealing is the only way she can make herself stronger so she cannot face the same fate as her clansmen and family. Keaton is desperate for genuine affection and love, and is so appreciative of her friends that she obsessively protects them from whatever nebulous threat that hangs over them. Vengeful, she harbors petty vendettas over small incidents and reacts poorly to any sort of confirmation of her fears.

Keaton acts slightly condescendingly around Beings, having lived in a society where they were oppressed, but is gradually recovering from this prejudice. She harbors a severe animosity towards Angels.

Sadly, as Keaton refuses psychological treatment, there is a chance that her mental state will degenerate over a long period of time. That is for another story.

History: Very few people know about Keaton's history, and she frankly prefers to keep it that way. All that is known is that at one point her clan had deteriorated to the point it threatened extinction, that she has suffered a great deal of emotional and physical pain, and any attempts to expand upon this scarce information normally results in agony. Keaton's mind is fortified by walls upon walls of magical reinforcement, preventing the average mind-reader from infiltrating her memories. For whatever reason, she despises the Angel race, attributing her resentment to intensely personal motives.

In the Succubus and Incubus Academy, there have been records and information tucked away regarding a situation which involved her and another student. Everywhere else, there is little to no information about Keaton Jyraneth – most of her escapades in soul-stealing occurred in isolated territories, with the exception of one high-profile case where she had adopted another identity and received a pitiful sentencing by an all-Creature council as punishment for her crime. Even then, an alternate identity was attached to that crime, so Keaton has mostly escaped scrutiny. She had a short rivalry with a determined Adventurer involving that case... but nobody knows what happened to her. Since then, Keaton has pursued a career in Adventurer-slaying by accepting jobs from other Cubi.

Combat Abilities:
Standard Shadow-Manipulation: Aside from possessing the rudimentary skills that characterize a Succubus, such as some degree of shapeshifting and impersonation abilities, Keaton is first and foremost a skilled shadow-mage. Her specialty is controlling and manipulating the shadows themselves and having them manifest into a variety of physical forms and shapes, usually of an abstract nature defined by curls and waves and caricature-like qualities reminiscent of many types of painting mediums. A unique quality of this magic is that she can have the shadows adopt a temporarily physical state, or mold them into shapes for specific purposes, like crescent-blades for carving and cleaving and hands for strangling. She can make the shadows explode or burn or create a wide variety of sensations, as long as she has control over the darkness. The function is not wholly dependent on the shape of the shadows, and is more reliant on Keaton's sense of improvisation. The style as a whole is determined in effectiveness by her ability to think quickly, improvise, and formulate creative solutions and strategies. The shadows can react to her commands almost immediately, but this is judged by the effort required.

The versatility of this skill is incredible – Keaton can likely use shadows for almost anything, and she has used this ability so extensively that she has completely neglected other magical domains in favor of studying and devoting time to mastering the darkness. Combined with her occasional overconfidence, she lives under the misconception that shadow-manipulation is a foolproof art. However, while the shadows turn into a physical shape, it is still darkness and shares the same limitations. If exposed to concentrated magical light, or an overwhelming amount of it, the shadows that Keaton controls diminish. As long as there is an abundance of darkness or shadows within her range of "influence," she can use that as her weapon. But if there is nothing to manipulate, then she is essentially stripped of her greatest weapon. Regardless of the shape or form of the shadows, they are all vulnerable to light and can be effectively combated with it. Other types of magic have potential to drive away the shadows, since the darkness is still physical. It can be burned, it can be frozen, it can be electrocuted. Either way, because of her single-minded dedication, Keaton is inexperienced in other magical fields.

Shadow-Skin: Keaton has two chief offensive and defensive strategies linked to her shadow-manipulation. The first is something she refers to as her "shadow-skin," which serves as a protective armor. By enveloping herself in shadows, Keaton can create a tangible, skintight 'second skin' that completely covers her body, allowing perfect mobility and amplifying her connection to the darkness. In this state, she can more effectively perform manipulation-based techniques by establishing a certain magical influence over any darkness that can be altered or wielded. The skin can thicken and adopt different textures in order to protect Keaton, but this affects her freedom of movement depending on the extremity of the alteration. However, because of the thin nature of the armor, it can be flaked away and damaged easily by light, like her ordinary magic. It is also not very effective against serious blows, but it can sometimes reduce the impact of critical attacks as long as Keaton herself is not punctured through the shadow-skin.

Keaton's Meteor Hammer: Since this RP is apparently not supposed to mesh with any characters' continuities, I decided to bring out a guilty-pleasure weapon normally reserved for a certain incarnation of Keaton. Keaton's meteor hammer goes by no name, as it is an inconsistent tool woven out of materialized darkness and rarely kept in a physical form beyond being used in combat. The meteor hammer has no embellishments: it consists of an elastic length of rope-like material with a number of weights attached to the end. The simple design is for Keaton's convenience alone; rather than devote any extra attention and concentration to adding unnecessary decorations, she can instantaneously weave the weapon out of shadows and utilize it. There are no individual fibers comprising the rope; it is one solid length, like rubber, but behaves like a rope, hence making conjuring the weapon a simpler task.

Since the meteor hammer is forged out of the same shadows as her magic and her shadow-skin, Keaton can change the meteor hammer in the middle of a fight, even using it to help orchestrate her darkness-conducting efforts. She can also spontaneously shorten or increase the length of the meteor hammer's rope in the middle of a fight, although she prefers something within 4 meters (12.8 feet). Keaton is extraordinary with the meteor hammer, able to spin and twirl it and execute a number of techniques designed to immobilize, ensnare, and/or bludgeon. The weapon is clearly not intended for purely offensive combat, but if she maintains enough momentum, she can probably strike with crushing force. Best of all, besides the shadow-manipulation, Keaton can cast elaborate dark-oriented spells using the meteor hammer, thus increasing the destructive potential of her weapon and providing a back-up plan when her shadow-magic fails.

For information on the meteor hammer as a weapon, consult this Wikipedia page. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteor_hammer) The page lists techniques that the meteor hammer can execute, if used properly.

However, this also applies to herself. Keaton can lose her balance, she can lose her focus, and this can end catastrophically. Self-injuries are common in these episodes, as well as embarrassing moments when she becomes entangled in the meteor hammer's ropes. The meteor hammer can melt when exposed to intense light that washes away any available darkness, thereby unarming Keaton. This is a very inconvenient disadvantage.

Dark-Oriented Spells: Keaton can cast a few dark-oriented spells, but without the same versatility as her shadow-manipulation. These spells are not as effective as her shadow-magic, either, and are fairly straightforward. However, they can be cast regardless of the amount of lighting in the room.

Other abilities of note: Standard Succubus abilities. Keaton's wing-tentacles do not have heads, but she can emulate them with enough time and effort – something she does not often have in the heat of battle. She is rather agile and flexible, compensating for her lack of physical strength with her quick reflexes. Keaton is adequate at unarmed self-defense, but her talents obviously lie in the field of magic and she can be defeated by a more skilled Cubi when forced to rely on her wing-tentacles alone.

Notably, Keaton does not regenerate or recover from injuries as quickly as other Cubi, and will require help if she is seriously wounded.

Trivia:
-   Keaton has a Warp-Aci named Xianxi. She uses him for gathering information and menial tasks, and treats him more like a pet and a beloved servant than anything else. Xianxi is one of the only creatures that has seen Keaton's more vulnerable moments, and therefore he has become an impromptu emotional crutch more often than not.
-   Keaton has a weakness for stuffed animals. As she earns more money from Adventurer-slaying, she's been expanding upon her collection.

This profile sucks. I will probably edit it in the future to be more satisfactory, if this draft meets the criteria for acceptance.

Hm, I'm certainly interested...just waiting for a bit of feedback before I actually commit my description or not. Heh, been so long since I've had a chance to even try for a good scene so going slow is a good option for me.

Added shadow and keats to the character index (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5978.msg278370.html#msg278370), will remove if vetoed (though I doubt that'll happen ;) )

Post by: Myr on May 12, 2009, 06:35:18 PM
All right, I've made up my mind... Here's my guy.

Name: 'Cruncher' Raek

Gender: Male

Species/Race: Troll Wolf/Mythos

Physical Description: Around 7'00'' in height, he's not really a sight for the eyes. Raek is like almost any troll...as in not handsome, or even the most intelligent-looking thing on the planet. Perhaps a bit 'svelte' when compared to others like himself, those muscles still bulge in grotesque fashion in the upper arms, giving them a powerful, corded look and perhaps making one think he got his limbs wedged in a taffy machine at one point when it was cranked on 'high'. His fingers are slightly longish, and tipped with yellowed claws. His chest is thick, and his back is is knotted so badly that he seems to be slouched when at ease...or was it when standing straight? His hips are also thick and powerful, and his arms seem longer than they should for a normal being-not that he could pass for one. His eyes are pale brown, and seem slightly beady for someone his size...Nor does his slightly choppy speech help matters.

His body itself is partially furless, with the exposed skin being thick, a touch lumpy here and there, and a pale blue-green in color while what brown-black fur he has is in scraggly patches over his body and surrounded by what appears to be heavily flaking skin...with the largest patches almost covering both hips, and a partial cover for his head that includes the left side of his face-only covering a bit of his slightly snubbed, wolfish muzzle that just barely hides his teeth in general (His tail, sad to say, is graced with only the lightest bit of fuzz). He tends to stick with rather simple, functional clothing such as an open vest or large, sleeveless shirt and usually loose-fitting shorts held on with a belt. Despite his appearance there is one thing in his favor-he does bath regularly, contrary to popular belief about his kind.

Personality: Gruff, almost taciturn, and maybe intimidating, Raek doesn't appear to be the greatest fellow to be around. However, he is unswervingly loyal to those that gain his trust (Or offer him food to tone down his somewhat insatiable appetite for a bit) and somewhat friendly if he finds someone that isn't likely to try and stab first...or scream and try and turn him into a walking torch. He is relatively smart, however, if a touch slow on the uptake and more likely to take a joke seriously than see what it really is right away. Sometimes he appears to have a bit too much fun when it comes to fighting, however...Otherwise he can be rather polite, if a bit...odd when it comes to his own sense of humor.

History: Trolls in general tend to have rather much the same history at times -killing innocents and adventurers alike, rampaging...one gets the idea; and Raek was no exception...except when he learned that 'if it screams and begs for mercy, it's not food' before he was even in his thirties thanks to actually thinking of talking to someone on the rare occasion he wasn't hungry. He does, however, have a rather hard time including 'if it fights back, it's not edible' in the same category even to this day...but learning of that did allow him to become somewhat tolerated-even enough to earn himself a mild education compared to some of his kin...though the incident where he purportedly made someone 'disappear' after their harassing him for a week is rather suspect. His one vague hope is that he can somewhat get everyone to see that trolls in general aren't all nasty. Well, okay, maybe that's a stretch...

Combat Abilities: Mildly strong, and certainly faster than one would expect due to being leaner than average already make for a decidedly powerful combination. Add in his education and he can certainly throw anyone for a loop that was expecting a slavering, hulking brute to come at them in a savage rush. Not that he doesn't enjoy doing that, however. Raek's favorite means of fighting is bare-handed, using his claws and fists to great effect...and he certainly isn't above biting someone, as his nickname 'Cruncher' might suggest.

If he must use a weapon, he very much prefers a sword or axe due to 'ease of use'...though a lead pipe can be used in lieu of. His thick hide provides some protection, and his regenerative ability-though not on par with other trolls- can allow him to regrow an entire limb in a matter of hours instead of minutes (A note, however. If he can get the original limb in time, it can be reattached within a few minutes of merely being held to the stump. Otherwise it becomes inert and can be treated like any other severed limb). Granted, it's this healing ability that gives him his ravenous appetite, and he's certainly incredibly hungry when recovering from injuries.

Other abilities of note: None really of note,  unfortunately, unless you want to try his cooking. (Don't even try and tell him to 'prepare whatever he thinks you like'...he has a limited understanding of what other races in general consider good food, and mold, random bugs, and that strange wrinkled lump from under the table that might have been a pickle tend not to be in that range!)

If you tell him what you want, and he has the right stuff he can do rather well. It might look unappetizing, but it'd certainly be safe and edible...provided you keep an eye on him and don't let him improvise. He might also be able to work out an average puzzle or pick some of the really old, simple locks but that'd be as far as his talents go, outside of being able to tell the difference between friend and foe when fighting.

Trivia: Certainly not evil...well, maybe he's just bright enough that he knows better.

Also known as one the few trolls to actually prove he could think with more than his stomach. Or with whatever body-injuring implement he happened to be holding. And, to his knowledge, the only member of his kind to have ever made a grade in anything...though he does like to think there's someone else out there who's managed the feat as well.

Added Myr to character index (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5978.msg278370.html#msg278370). Statement about keat and shadow also applies.

Also, for me; final approval obtained! *adds myself to character index*

*a little spider-robot with a rectanglular body scuttles up to the stage, grabs a character sheet, and inserts sheet into a slit in its body. Whirrs for a moment, then dispences a printed, filled-out character sheet*

Name: Traxen Ridgrey
Gender: male
Species/Race: Being (species undetermined)
Physical Description: Traxen is somewhat on the short side, just a little more than 5 feet, and quite thin, to the point of being almost unhealthy. His fur is predominantly black, but with patches of white here and there. He is usually quite personally unkempt. He wears toolbelts over a T-shirt and pants. However, few people ever see him, as he remains cooped up in his van most of the time.

Personality: Personally, Traxen is usually a fairly laid-back and mellow kind of guy. However, some might see him a bit obsessed with what he loves, which is robots and technology. He will talk to them every now and then, even treating them almost like people (though, with the exception of the van, he never expects any responses. He's not crazy). He is, however, a little paranoid, thanks to a few tangles in his History. He rarely leaves the safety of his van, and uses his robots to interact with the outside world most of the time, though he does sometimes exit to get some fresh air or better accommodations (flush toilets). He'll usually keep the van away from any action, sending out his robots to take care of things instead. He also harbors a bit of a mistrust for Creatures, though he usually gives them a chance to show that they aren't hostile, rather than shooting on sight.

History: Traxen was born and grew in a fairly quiet suburban area. From a very early age, he was always keenly interested in the budding areas of technology in Furrae, instead of established systems of magic. He also developed a special affinity for a mostly-untouched field; robotics, or autonomous machines. He took classes, but mostly taught himself the intricacies of technology, and built his own contraptions, which steadily grew more and more advanced. Eventually, he opened up his own business selling his technology, although he kept the best and most advanced projects to himself. As he developed his business, he was a bit envious of the hugely successful Jycorp, which had attained a massive portion of the consumer technological market a few years before Traxen opened up shop. Through several supply deals, he got access to some rare materials that allow him to sustain those "secret, advanced projects". Finally, Traxen had established himself enough that he moved to another area, rural and mostly untouched by Jycorp, to open up a second shop.
  That's when the problems started.
A group of local Creatures at the second shop's location took exception to Traxen's technology and attempts to sell it. They wished for him to be gone, and although Traxen was obviously reluctant, the Creatures...insisted. They attacked and destroyed his shop, and Traxen barely escaped with his life. He returned to his first shop, but the Creatures had followed him. They moved in on this one, and Traxen only had enough time to pack up a few pieces of his tech that could not be duplicated outside of a full lab setting. With his shop and home under assault, Traxen fled, in a modified van he owned.
He's been wandering around from place to place now, trying to evade most Creatures, salvaging and scavenging whatever he can. To help sustain himself on the road, he's lent his expertise and gear out to Creature-hunting adventurers on a few occasions (mainly to provide food and sundries for himself), although he has met his fair share of decent Creatures. Now, his wanderings have brought him near a supposedly-abandoned City that has high traffic in adventurers...

Van (P.A.M.C.A.W.V.): Traxen drives around in the very heavily modified shell of an armored van, similar to the kind used by police, banks or special operations, to the point where it looks like some kind of FrankenMachine. Its armor has been improved and added upon to where the van can take several explosions or magical blasts (though even one serious hit like that will usually give him a lot of grief to deal with later) and keep rolling, at least for a little while. There is also only one single window on it: a square right up front on the driver's side (left for anyone not in the U.S.), which can be covered with an armor plate if need be. The van is equipped with multiple external cameras (reasonably hidden and protected), and that is what provides him with all-around vision while driving, or if he just wants to see outside (there are also several extra cameras so he can look anywhere he needs to, even under the van itself "just in case"), and also a few other knick-knacks like laser-rangefinders and other varied sensors. There is also a dome on top of the van, which actually unfolds to reveal a heavy-caliber machine gun, which is what Traxen uses to defend his van if it's ever under attack (although he takes pains to make sure even that doesn't happen). The gun is powerful, but designed to be as accurate as possible due to the necessity of usually firing in bursts for ammo conservation reasons, and to preserve accuracy. One burst is usually able to take down (but usually not kill instantly, unless a critical organ such as the brain or heart is hit) an unarmored target not above a Being in terms of physical resilliance. Because the turret is on the top of the van, and it is fairly high up, he would normally have a significant dead-zone, but the turret can slide on rails from one side of the van to the other if needed, to partially solve that problem. There is also a fairly powerful transmitter setup (though it is not exposed for obvious reasons) that links him to his robots in a radius of about a mile or two. Built into the same system are several long-range sensors, namely radar and sonar, plus a few seismic sensors that all go out to around the same distance as the transmitter range at best. Collectively, this is referred to the van's "sensor stack". These sensors are capable of tracking the rough size, location and motion of large objects, such as other vehicles or mobs. The sensors work best in an open area, and the more confined and built-up a place is (like the middle of an urban center), the shorter the range, but it will be able to give a good shape of nearby buildings. Individuals are often almost invisible to the sensors unless in visual range, even in an open area, which is why the cameradrones are relied upon so much. Due to these limitations of the sensor stack, it is mainly used only to get the basic layout of an immediate vicinity, while the cameradrones go and fill in the details.
The interior of the van has been completely converted and rebuilt, some of it on the road, but a good portion before his falling-out with the Creatures. The main space is almost entirely a workshop and gear storage, with a wall partially dedicated to monitors and computer interfaces, and many inscrutable gadgets and tools abound. It's pretty much his 'command center', and, since he's been on the road, his home. The workshop allows him to build almost anything he needs, as well as service and repair his robots. The van has a built-in micro recycling/processing/fabrication unit, which he uses to convert raw and salvaged resources into usable material, though any processing takes time, and can only do small amounts of material at a time. Part of it is almost always running to manufacture basic ammunition for his weapons. The van is powered by a small microfusion generator (one of the "secret, special projects" he had from his original business and managed to salvage before his exodus) for near unlimited power. Because the van is practically Traxen's home, it has very bare living accommodations, basically, he craps in a bucket (which is inserted into a slot and dumped externally), and sleeps in the driver's seat. A few parts of the 'workshop' are dual-purpose, and he can prepare a limited amount of food with them.
Lastly, the van itself is a robot; it has its own autonomous systems, and is the "smartest" robot he has, having a highly advanced and powerful processor, plus some supercapacity memory cells (they were originally designed for a supercomputer Traxen was building in his original shop, but he salvaged the memory cells before he had to run away. The van has been recording all input data since Traxen's flight, and only a couple of the cells even have any significant chunk of space taken out of them). It's not sentient or a true AI, but it's good enough to perform nearly any function automatically, from driving to operating the turret to even helping coordinate Traxen's robots in the field. While, for advanced instructions, Traxen will usually input commands on the computer terminal, it does have a voice-interface (though it's only marginally more advanced than current 'conversation computers'), and-talks-in-a-mo-no-syl-a-bic-voice. Usually, the autonomy only comes into play if Traxen is trying to get away from something, and he can set the van to drive while he operates the turret, or vice-versa. The van drives itself best in urban and open terrain, but if things get rough, it can become confused and slow down. If absolutely necessary, the van can perform all functions simultaneously, but that eats up loads of processing power and reduces efficiency at all tasks.
The van is 'named' PAMCAWV, short for Partially Autonomous Mobile Command And Workshop Vehicle. Traxen programmed it to respond to "Pamcawv", or just "Cawv" if necessary.

Other abilities of note: Fist off, Traxen has the main event, the robots themselves. He has two basic types; drones and bots (bots shown below). The drones are small, mostly remote-controlled with little automation. They are usually either coordinated by the van or directly "possessed" by Traxen. If they fall outside of range of the van's transmitter, the drones will usually shut down until they receive a signal again. They are also usually easily replaced (if he does little else, he can have one built in a few days), and destroyed even easier if someone tries to attack them. Just stomping on one hard enough would be enough to put a drone out of commission. He has a couple specific kinds of drones; first, little flying cameras, disk-shaped and of sizes usually of a foot or half a foot (though he has a very limited number of larger models for special situations). He uses these as his eyes to see things beyond his van. They are equipped with normal cameras, and usually other specialized sensors and equipment depending on their size. However, most of his drones are little spiderlike contraptions that can perform a wide variety of functions depending on what they've got built into them (he calls them "spiderdrones" though that's technically a misnomer, as they often have only six legs, not eight). They are usually between one and two feet in size. Most of them are for external and field repair, but some have more specialized functions. They are almost never armed, unless one is built specifically for such a situation.
Traxen himself is a technological savant, of course, and has been specifically enamored with robots. Because robotics itself is a multidisciplinary science, he is highly competent in all related fields; mechanical, electronics, computer programming, design, etc, and usually has high familiarity with other technologies as well. Any gadget or gizmo that's needed he can make, given hours or days (depending on the item in question) and materials. While more of a programmer than a hacker, he can become one if the situation calls for it (results vary). And in that regard, he is an accomplished programmer indeed, having programmed the drones, bots, and Pamcawv all from scratch, even creating his own own programming language and  operating system (though he is still familliar with most other Furrae standards, particularly Jycorp's) with which he made the robots from while he was still in his original shop. In the case of the van, Pamcawv's program actually acts as the operating system.

Combat Abilities: Traxen doesn't fight. At least, not directly. Instead, he has another type of robot; the "turretbots". These are true, autonomous robots, capable of (mostly) independent action, though they aren't as advanced as the van. If they fall outside of the van's influence, they will usually remain active and either stay in place and attack any hostiles or just follow their last instructions until they are brought back under control again. They are also the only armed robots he has (aside from the van). He has only three turretbots, and they are not replaceable. If one is trashed, he would make every effort to retrieve it, as it can be salvaged or repaired, given some time. If one is completely lost, however, it would be a huge blow to his operational capacity, and it would take him a great amount of time to make another from scratch.
The turretbots are only slightly smaller in height than Traxen himself, but are still considerably larger in overall size, and look basically like walking dual-turrets. They are all quadrupedal, with a main body, fairly armored, and a weapon on both sides. The turretbots are actually somewhat modular; the weapons can be swapped out. Traxen has three main weapons for them; machine guns for close and medium range general combat, rifles for range and precision targeting, and grenade launcher for tactical fire support. Ammo pods for each weapon are mounted on the back of the bots. The bots usually go out with same-dual-weapon configurations, but they can accept any combination. There is also special "tank-tread" and "wheeled" attachments; bases that the bots can be mounted on for increased speed and stability, but at the cost of mobility over some rough terrain. Traxen has only one of each. The bots are somewhat durable, and can take a bit of a beating, some bullets or one explosion and keep trucking (though even one explosion is liable to put them on a rout back to the van for immediate repair), though they would be pushing luck with any more damage. Since most Creatures and some Beings can put out more than this, it is almost always difficult for the bots to take down any single target alone, though if it's three-on-one and they are actively being directed and coordinated by Traxen, they'll have a fair chance. Usually, they will be for combat support as opposed to direct combat.
As said, the bots are mostly autonomous, and capable of tracking and firing on targets completely independently, though they usually require specific instructions to tell them where to go and when. When all three are fighting in concert, they can sometimes employ what resembles tactics, but rarely any more than "flanking". More advanced maneuvers requires specific instructions. They have regular visual sense, but also thermal and sonar to track targets. Their automatic target recognition...needs work, so Traxen usually has to manually tag targets as 'friendly' or 'hostile', unless Traxen put them in "exterminate" mode. In that case, they will attack anything and everything that moves or falls within a certain thermal range.
The van itself, while capable of combat, if far too valuable and important to be directly risked for engagements. Plus, being a van there is a limit to where it can go, which is why the robots are used so extensively.

Trivia:
-Traxen wears a pair of goggles on his forehead. Just because.
-He describes magic as "quaint, like an antique".
-Unless specially directed, nothing autonomously armed ever fires continuously. Burst-firing only, to conserve ammo and accuracy.
-At least a few people working for Traxen died when his businesses were destroyed. Every now and then, he has a bout of guilt or anger over this.

ARGH I'M TOO DAMN TEMPTED!!! I'm joining okay! There! Just lemme work up character bios... :3

EDIT: Annnnd here they are. They've gone through extensive development, and hopefully, they'll be useful here.

Name: Mykst Necrado (pronounced: mixed neh-CRAH-do)
Gender: Male
Species/Race: Being/Shorthair domestic cat

Physical Description: Sixteen years old; stands about 5'8"; slim, wiry build; ropy muscles. His fur is grey, but lightens to white on his chest and stomach, and his tail has a white tip. He has short but thick black hair, and his eyes are mismatched – one blue, one brown. His outfit consists of a short-sleeved poet shirt (the kind that strings up at the collar, not the kind with ruffles), brown pants, and a black cloak that he wears around his shoulders. He wears a single pearl on a string around his neck, and carries a staff that has a larger pearl embedded in the top.

Personality: When you first meet Mykst, he comes off as a very shy, insecure boy, who doesn't have any really distinguishing talents. About half a year ago, he was like this even with his close friends and family. But recent events (including meeting Kali) have caused him to crack his shell at least a bit, and now once you get to know him, he's a smart boy with a strong desire to learn. He just doesn't know precisely what he wants to do with his life.

History: Mykst grew up in a town called Chae-Raki, with mainly his mother around the house. His father was a mage and lived a nomadic life, and though Mykst saw him occasionally, he never stayed for an extended time period. He was sent to the mountains at age 13 to study magic with Dyixaz, the local healing mage. Although he was never hot stuff at healing magic, Mykst was a dedicated student and worshipped Dyixaz. But things got difficult when a huge battle called for Dyixaz's attention. Not wanting to interrupt Mykst's training, the wolf agreed to let his student come along.

During the time of the battle, Mykst met Black Magic, a former student of Dyixaz who was fighting on the other side. He was immediately smitten. This was the first step in cracking his shell of timidity; Black Magic had no interest in him and was only focused on winning the fight, so making the first move was not only incredibly hard for him to do, it made him much more likely to die. But for whatever reason, Black Magic found his shyness endearing (as well as a challenge to help him overcome). But they didn't officially start dating until a moment when her life was put in danger. In a cliché but still romantic maneuver, Mykst unlocked his true magic and summoned up a shield of rock to protect Black Magic. Since then, Dyixaz has shifted the boy's studies to his true affinity: elemental magic. Mykst also began dating Black Magic after the battle, when she resumed studying under Dyixaz.

Combat Abilities: Mykst is an elemental mage with no specific affinity. This is mostly because he hasn't fully developed his powers; he only discovered that he had them five months ago. Currently, the only elements he knows any spells for are earth and fire. He also knows a few basic healing spells, but can't heal anything more serious than flesh wounds.

Other abilities of note: There are none known yet, but Mykst tends to reveal the most power when either he or someone he cares deeply about is under pressure. So he may in fact have more abilities that he simply hasn't used yet.

Trivia: - The pearl that Mykst always wears was a gift from his mother. He never takes it off.
- Despite his shy personality, Mykst is still a housecat, and has a few of their instincts and traits. As a result, Kali has to keep a protective cover over the fish tank whenever he comes over.
- Mykst rarely gets into arguments. He thinks about things very rationally, and doesn't like conflict. People who try to argue with him usually end up either disappointed or questioning themselves.

*********

Name: Kali Fiyernos
Alias: Black Magic
Gender: Female
Species/Race: Being/Lioness

Physical Description: Sixteen years old, about 5'7", curvy but firmer muscles than most other girls her age (about average among other lions her age, though). Her hair and the tuft of her tail are both auburn, her fur is tawny, and her eyes are gray. Her usual outfit is a pair of blue jeans, sandals, and a night-sky-blue sleeveless shirt with sparkling white diamond-shaped stars on the front. Over this, she wears her cloak, usually closed and without the hood. She carries a staff made from dark oak, with a ruby embedded in the top.

Personality: Aggressive, stubborn, proud – in other words, mostly a typical lion. Fiercely loyal to her family and those she cares about, but prone to disagreements even with them. She tends to do whatever she wants, abd because of her species and mannerisms, most people don't argue. When she is kind to people, she can come off as slightly scary. She blames it on the pointy teeth in her smile.

History: Kali grew up in a mostly-lion neighborhood, also in Chae-Raki. There were other species around, but all of them were predators. Kali didn't really place too much importance on her species – for her, it was something that just was, and acted to her convenience at certain times. Her mother seemed to agree, but her father was a bit more proud of his species – and it made him all the more frustrated with Kali. She and her dad, despite being close under the surface, argued more than anyone else in the family – particularly when Kali decided to study magic, and further when she decided to quit studying under Dyixaz so she could learn about dark spells.

When a local criminal/would-be world conqueror needed dark mages, Black Magic agreed to continue her studies while working for him. What she didn't realize was that this meant she'd have to go up against her old teacher – and his new student. She attacked them and treated them as she would any opponent, but had no idea how to react when the new student, in captivity, expressed a desire to be closer to her. She was further shocked when she discovered her teacher was upset not with her choice in studies, but with the man she'd chosen to help. The final breaking factor was when the new student – Mykst – saved her life in the middle of a final battle when she was on the sidelines. Although her affinity is still dark magic, Kali quit her job and renewed her studies under Dyixaz – as well as starting a relationship with Mykst.

Combat Abilities: As her nickname indicates, Kali studies the darker side of magic. She has a few basic healing abilities (slightly more accurate than Mykst), but she relies more on her dark magic. Since meeting Mykst and resuming her studies under Dyixaz, she's started using these spells not for demonic purposes, but merely as an asset in battle. She can use dark energy in its purest form as a weapon, or she can use more advanced spells – causing her target to feel uncontrollable pain or fear for a short amount of time, creating a shield that reflects attacks back on the user, or sapping their energy slowly. Although it typically takes years to study, Kali is also learning a few spells in necromancy. She can't resurrect yet, and hasn't needed to, but she can communicate with the dead through magic. After all, the dead see and hear everything.

Other abilities of note: As a lioness, Kali is a skilled hand-to-hand fighter. She doesn't usually need to resort to it, but when she does, there are a lot of claws and teeth involved.

Trivia: - The only people allowed to call her Kali are Mykst, Dyixaz, and her family. Everyone else refers to her as Black Magic until she trusts them.
- Kali did get back in touch with her family. Her father has grown to accept her studies in magic. Currently, their main argument is her decision to date a housecat rather than another lion.
- Although her usual favorite is rock, she has a secret love for country music, but she'd never admit to it.

(Their stories are from my continuity; if they need editing, I will gladly do so. But they're done. Yay. :D )

Blackangel added to character index, can be removed pending disapproval (But I seriously doubt that's gonna happen :3)

Also, Boogy, since you don't seem to be all that great at keeping a character index updated, put this link into the first post instead, and I'll keep the index updated myself.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Newb would like to join.

Name: Felix "Jinx" Cross
Gender:Male

Species/Race:Cat(shorthaired)/Were

Physical Description:27 years of age, in both human and furre forms he stands at about 6' 9", in all forms is very underweight. In all forms his hair is jet black, and is often  unkept and sometimes messy, and his eyes are a rather bright shade of green.

In his furre form, Jinx' fur is a slightly lighter shade of black then his hair, and possesses a long, bony tail  and rather large point ears. His thin form gives his face some sharp features, often making

His human form is caucasian, and as one would expect his face is rather thin looking, though the general shape of his face is streamlined, with no feature really sticking out more then any other.

His cat form is, naturally and obviously, a black shorthaired cat of above average size. It still carries Jinx's hairdo, and while fairly long, is very underweight and bony.

Jinx's choice of clothing is more often then not business suits. He usually wears a set of black loafers, black dress pants and a black jacket often wore open, as well as an assortment of shirts and ties, usually a red tie and a white shirt.

Personality: Jinx is a fairly surly and sarcastic fellow, often quick to insult and mock others. Jinx often seems anti-social and aloof, often avoiding making friends or having to deal with people he finds unpleasant. All too often it seems Jinx's only real companions are a bottle of whiskey and a pack of cigarettes.

In battle, Jinx can become a different person entirely, to the point where his taunts and attitude suggests he's having a blast. Indeed, he will often seem disrespectful and disappointed when an opponent is going down easy, but seems to respect those who can put up a fight, quite possibly the most common way for Jinx to show anything resembling kindness to others. He will often salute and honor opponents who put up a worthy challenge in his eyes. Jinx will also do whatever he can to make the fight as fun as he possibly can.

Of course, Jinx is a member of the League of Assassins, and given their nature, it's unsurprising he turned out this way. Also, Jinx hasn't always been this anti-social... it all started when Jinx began hearing the voices...seeing the people killed, or the people in his life who had died come back to talk to him. So, Jinx feels he can't trust anyone he meets, nor can he trust the voices in his head, and now it's getting to the point where Jinx feels he can't even trust his own mind...

History: Jinx's life and history is a mystery even to him. He knows his parents are deceased, but other then his mother and her means of death, doesn't know who they were, even what his father looked like. Jinx knows He spent years in an orphanage, but only the name, and learned he had 'drowned' years ago.

However, Jinx does have connections with the clandestine League of Assassins, and is considered an off-again-on-again agent of the professional killers, often working under the "Being Commissions Officer" Lord Twinfang.

Recently, though, Jinx has been taking odd jobs, so too speak, and has currently been hired to investigate a strange city in the middle of nowhere. Given his client was one of the Harkonnens, a family of Angels known for their wealth and intellect(And often eccentric , sometimes bordering on just plain crazy) he really couldn't pass up the money his cilent was offering.

Combat Abilities:Jinx, as natural of his race, is good with magic, having a preference for Lightening and Fire based magic. He's a decent spell caster in his furre form, but is absolutely devastating in his cat form. However, for some reason, his magic is somewhat, bit noticeably, diminished in his human form.

Still, Jinx, perhaps due to his training as an Assassin, saves his spells as a last resort or a surprise attack for creatures.  He will often fight like a normal adventurer, albeit a cocky one, to get enemy creatures into underestimating him before revealing his true heritage.

Jinx preferred weapons are a rapier, preferring quick and precise jabs, and a Black Powder Revolver. The revolver is based off a Singe Action Army, and Jinx has enough skill with it to 'fan the hammer' as well as us the weapon normally. However, Jinx' own sense of 'fun' has prevent him from getting a speed loader. Indeed, Jinx loves the feeling of reloading in the heat of battle.

Other abilities of note: His cat form allows him great agility, and it's small profile means he can speak into areas others would find inaccessible, as well as it's obvious potential for stealth. Jinx Human form also possesses immunity to magic.

In his furre and human forms, Jinx is skilled in parkour, lock-picking, and swimming.
Trivia: -Jinx's most prized possessions are his golden tie clip matching cufflinks.
-Jinx suffers from severe Claustrophobia.
- Jinx enjoys spicy food.

This good? If not, just tell me.

Er, sorry for the confusion!

What he meant was he's willing to be hired for work-kind of like a sword-for-hire, since he doesn't really have the aptitude to be a real adventurer on his own (Too likely to get frustrated at something, for one, and...well, he is a creature afterall...).

But...that's just how he talks-hard to make sense of at times unless you ask him to say it differently.

If you wonder what he meant by 'meat-sticker'...he's talking about swords, arrows, things like that.

Title: Re: The City (OOC, open to new members)
Post by: Yugo on May 21, 2009, 02:40:03 AM
Name: Elenor Jyraneth
Gender: Female
Species/Race: Wolf/Succubus
Age: 1020

Physical Description
Height: 5'8''
Weight: 130 .lbs
Eyes: Cobalt blue
Fur Color: Peerless white all over, with a tail of the same color.
Hair: A solid, steely white, normally worn in a high ponytail that hangs down to about the small of her back.
Distinguishing Features: Contrasting her stark-white fur are a series of what appear to be sky-blue tattoos forming beautiful curlicues, twists, and various symbols on her entire body, including her face, ears, and tail. They appear to be, for all intents and purposes, deliberate, and a discerning mage might tell that they are inherently magical in nature. Her wings are leathery and bat-like, shaded similarly to her fur and edged with a black trim, although these are usually kept hidden in public. Although she is a shapeshifter, and can use her wings to change her outfit and appearance at will, Elenor's preferred clothing is a long strapless black dress adorned with blue lining.

Personality: On the outside, to those she is not familiar with, Elenor can be rather unsociable and secretive, politely pushing away attempts at conversation and introduction. While part of this is to maintain a low-profile and remain mostly inconspicuous, it is primarily because she does not really know how to genuinely acquaint herself with others not of her own clan. Decades and centuries of espionage and inquisitorial conduct followed by several more in isolation have made her accustomed to a life of secrecy and darkness, as real socialization in an unfamiliar society is stll quite alien to her. When confronted, she inadverdantly turns the tables, attempting to probe her acquaintances for whatever information she can gather, purely out of habit.

To the people she knows, which are dreadfully few and far between, Elenor is playful, talkative, and often very motherly and caring, even overprotective at times. She has nearly infinite patience, derived from years of serving a fickle and capricious leader, but becomes vindictive when she or her companions are openly threatened. Given enough time and frustration, these fits can blossom into a vendetta, but only in the gravest of incidents. As one might expect, Elenor is not the least bit phased by death, although her former habit of soul-stealing now disturbs her quite deeply. She is still in a time of personal crisis, as her entire belief system has broken apart and fallen down around her, leaving her unsure of what to do and where to go.

History: If one digs deeply enough, a determined researcher or historian will find accounts of the horror and terrible crimes inflicted upon the rest of the world by the Jyraneth clan, but Elenor herself has fallen into the dustbin of history, presumed dead by the rest of the world as most of her clan are, and she intends to keep up that myth for as long as she can. Formerly wanted for murder, espionage, soul-murder, and vast slew of other crimes, Elenor has blazed a long and infamous history for the centuries she was active within her clan, most of which she is vastly ashamed of, and will either remain silent or lash out furiously if asked personal questions regarding the matter, depending upon her mood.

After a few centuries of isolation, planning, and personal reflection, Elenor has struck out into the world once again, seeking her daughters, vainly hoping against hope that they might have survived her clan's decimation, although she knows there is almost no chance of succeeding. She will viciously hang onto her only fellow clan member and traveling companion, Katherine Jyraneth, doing her absolute best to watch over and protect the emotionally unstable (and quite possibly insane) succubus. Among these goals, she also has a deep desire to find some way of using her race's abilities to heal minds rather than break and extract information from them, to help Katherine and others, but so far all of her research has proved unsuccessful. As for her association with the Jyraneth Clan itself, only Katherine knows exactly how deeply her involvement with Jyraneth went, and she is as likely to discuss that as her own history.

Combat Abilities
Shadowstorm: Besides the obvious gifts such as wing-tentacles that all 'Cubi are granted with, Elenor's primary tool in physical combat is a powerful magical staff known as Shadowstorm. Gifted to her by Jyraneth herself upon her elevation to Judicator, it is a fearsome weapon in her hands. Crafted from iron, black like its namesake, it is nearly 6 feet long, with a gold tip at the butt, and a pentagram approximately the width of a human head at the top. Thick golden hoops pass through the star's gaps, jangling musically as the staff twists, flips, and floats through the air. The head has an unhealthy glow to it, like a form of non-light, and is the focus of the weapon's energy. The magic suffusing the implement can carve through some of the most tenacious materials, and so passes through flesh and bone with ease, seperating limbs and muscle tissue from its victim with little effort on its owner's part. When wielding her prized weapon, Elenor puts on a wonderfully acrobatic display, twirling the staff like a baton with a set rhythm and intent honed by decades to centuries of training and practice.

Magic: When it comes to magical abilities, Elenor tends to be very utilitarian. A jack of all trades and master of none, she does not wield particularly powerful magic, preferring to have the comfort of being able to fall back on her vast arrray of intermediate spells to assist herself, assist others, destroy, wound, or create a slew of other possible effects. Unfortunately, when faced with a more skilled and specialized mage, Elenor's magic tends to fail her, and is often reserved for defensive and healing purposes. The most powerful magic Elenor might summon is the Jyraneth Clan's trademark shadow-magic, but she lacks the training and desire to use it for killing and disabling her opponents, instead preferring to utilize it for more deceptive and stealthy purposes, such as hiding herself or creating visual illusions to frighten and confuse enemies.

Other Abilities of Note Like all 'cubi, Elenor can shapeshift, thought-read, and wield her wings as deadly tentacle-weapons. Physically, Elenor is frail, compensating for her lack of strength and endurance with her natural speed, agility, determination, and fury.

Trivia
-Although Keaton seriously advises Elenor to get herself a Warp-Aci, she lacks one, instead preffering to rely upon her own strength and ability rather than a strange ally such as a Warp-Aci.

I kind of copped out on her history, but I needed to finish this profile. Here's hoping she's accepted. :D

Kafzeil, just a note:  I'm not sure what would make your character assume Mao is blind, or a rabbit.  His features are pretty mixed between feline and hare and aside from the fact that he generally doesn't open his eyes,  there wouldn't be any indication that he can't see... because were he to bother to, he could see just fine. :B

Jinx is generally one to make quick judgements, and not one to analyze until he actually needs to. He merely assumed because Mao's eyes are closed, he can't see, and assumes because he doesn't open, there's something wrong with them. I could change it if you want.

And he said 'rabbit...thing', meaning he's not really to sure what to make of Mao. The hare part is what Jinx assumed he was at first, before noticing something was off. As for the hare and rabbits are different thing...Jinx never cared much for the details.  :B

Important detail of note, as judging by some people's posts I think there might be a little confusion over this. The town and the Inn are separate from the City. As mentioned, nobody lives there on purpose. The town was built close enough to reap the benefits of tourism, but they keep their distance.

Ah. I was wondering about that Kafzeil.

Now, I only hope I didn't go overboard with my pose just now. *flop* If there's a bit of confusion to be settled or something that needs fixed...let me know. Was...kinda hard to work out one that sounded reasonable, so I'm open to correcting it if need be.

I just wanted to put up a post here to let everyone know, before I post next in the IC, that Gareeku's going on vacation for a week and has asked me to keep his character caught up for him.

Just in case anyone sees me controlling his character and wants to complain to me.  :B

That also goes for the other RPs we're currently active in--the Mad God's Masque Ball and The Castle--if necessary.  Some of you I talk to everyday are in all three, so you can vouch for me there. x3

Name: William Ifnigr the Third. Yes, it's him. Cower in fear, or run for your life.
Gender: Male.
Species/Race: Mythos, we think. Or possibly Being. If Being, he just isn't dead yet. Hedgehog, not porcupine.
Physical Description: Short, stumpy, and solidly built. He's about 4'8" tall, and probably 5'-6' wide. Looks like a ball of spikes, stuck through a somewhat baggy and loose bag of skin. Under which is a heck of a lot of muscle, and a metabolism which has to be seen to be believed. Wears a leather jacket, which, if you look closely, is actually made from gryphon skin. Ask him where he got it, and he'll look at you like you're stupid and tell you he killed the last thing wearing it. He's not bluffing, either.
Personality: Aggressive. Objectionable. Surly. Blunt. And coarse. Very, very coarse. Every other word is usually unprintable.
History: Witt was born a long time ago. He expected to marry, have kids, die, get buried, and, depending on which religion you happen to believe in, possibly rise again some time later, still many years ago. He managed the first, probably the second, and then is still sort of waiting for the third and fourth. After a while, he got bored and depressed, took up drinking, and started wandering. Sooner or later he'll either find someone else of his type, to explain why he's not dead yet, or drink himself to death. Since he's rather invulnerable to drink (something he discovered when trying to drink himself to death, on one particularly depressing evening) this hasn't happened yet, but he's still hoping he'll find something potent enough to do it. Pure alcohol hasn't done it yet, in quantities enough to power a small aircraft for a significant length of time...
He's been wandering around the world, in various odd corners, for many centuries now. There are rumours of a "wandering dutchman" in various cultures, most of which don't say much about how unpleasant he is in person, for some reason. Every so often he gets bored and drinks a bar dry, usually getting annoyed enough to throw the rest of the clientèle out the doors or windows in the process.
Combat Abilities: Hard as nails, and usually fights dirty. But then, what would you expect from a bar brawler? He's usual a bare handed fighter, but will use knives if he needs to; he's lethal enough with his bare paws, but deadly with knives, either hand-to-hand or thrown.
Oh, and he'll use his spines on anyone, so stepping behind him in the hopes you can get the drop on him isn't exactly the smartest of moves...
Other abilities of note: Has been noted to get more pleasant and polite after he gets toasted. Unfortunately, since he can drink most of a bar by himself, this doesn't happen as often as the people around him would prefer. He also has rather a large vocabulary, in a surprising number of languages; admittedly most of it is of the gutter variety, but he's still smarter than he immediately looks or sounds.
And, finally, he has a minor regeneration ability, which possibly explains some of why he can drink so much without washing his liver out. Or maybe not...
Trivia: He's telling the truth about the jacket; it used to be wrapped around a Gryphon C who annoyed him. Permanently attached, as it were.
He's got some tattoos on him, but most of them aren't visible; the only two that are immediately obvious are across his knuckles, and usually seen heading towards the viewer at high speed.
He usually spreads a mix of Capsiacin and laxatives on his spines; anyone who gets nudged will know all about it.

Anyone seen teh_hobo, shadesfox, or shadowterm? They're the only ones I've got drones following, and they haven't posted in awhile, and I missed Mao, who was the other guy I wanted to follow... *sigh*, figures... :<

Although, Boog, I notice that on page 5, shadow made a post that he was heading to the City, and it was never addressed. Just a note, if he comes back...

Should I PM-poke the three of them now, or wait a bit longer?

Post by: murmer on June 13, 2009, 12:55:32 AM
I hope I'm not too late in posting this. It took me a while to write something  :<

Name: Rhiya Ravenwing

Gender: Female

Species/Race: Mythos – gryphon/warp-aci

Physical Description: If it weren't for the mild, permanent aura of shadow surrounding Rhiya's fur and feathers, she can easily be mistaken for a type A gryphon species. Standing an average 5'6" with double that in translucent shadow wingspan, Rhiya's upper torso features distinct bird-like details (claws, beak, feathers, wings), but waist down becomes feline (fur, padded feet/paws, flexible tail). If there were shades of black, then Rhiya seems to be able to cover all that spectrum, save for the piercing white irises that cause her eyes to stand out starkly against her dark countenance.
Rhiya's tail – instead of ending in furry glory – is long and flattens out to a paperthin consistency much like that of a warp-aci's. It seems to also be likewise as morphable as a warp-aci's.

Personality: If curiosity kills the cat, then somewhere in Rhiya's lifetime a great number of cats must've died from her insatiable curious nature. Rhiya is a bit random, but tends towards being in a state of either permanent happiness or worry. She loves making new friends and helping them out, but sometimes appears to be too much of a tryhard in that aspect.

History: Rhiya started out as a normal Gryphon type A with a combination of too much time, too much curiosity and the ability to wield magic. As it turned out, somewhere down one of her maddened research into life magic in the shadow magic subcategory, she'd enlisted the help of a warp-aci (summoned) in the study. One freak accident later involving shadow magic, Rhiya accidentally merged herself with her warp-aci, and became what she is now.
Of course, this was a while ago. Because of the unknown length of a Warp-aci's lifespan, Rhiya has by far outlived all of her brethren and then some. At some time after all her friends and extended families had passed away, Rhiya decided to pack up all her belongings and go wandering. Along the way she picked up some skills, but mainly focused on her own magical prowess to get through everything.

Combat Abilities: Combat medic! Rhiya's actual fighting skills aren't very good. She'd be screwed if it weren't for the fact that she'll just get up right after the big bad had just laid into her with all he's got – after a few minutes at least. She doesn't do much damage-wise, but her superior regeneration and well-versed healing and defensive magic skills make up for her lacking. Her warp-aci counterpart also makes her very fast and hard to hit, and minor teleporting abilities lets her get to the wounded on the battlefield a lot easier than it normally would be. She always has contingent life and healing spells prepared in case something really bad happens and she's not ready for it. [Summary – Strong healer. Really bad fighter. Hard to kill, but doesn't do much damage at all.]

Other abilities of note:
Amorphous – Rhiya's form is slightly changeable. She is able to alternate herself between a gryphon A form and a gryphon B form of the same size, as well as minor aesthetic features (eye colour, beak size/shape, wing size/shape/hidden, all bird or all feline 'being' appearance). She is unable to hide the dark warp-aci glow around her, nor change the colour of her feathers/fur. She also can't manipulate her form as easily as a Cubi would be able to with their wings.
Minor teleportation – more of a dimensional hop rather than long-distance. As long as she can see and gauge a distance between her position and another place, she can get there without much trouble. Rhiya must be able to physically move her tail in order to use this.
Finding gravity – Rhiya can make herself light to the point where she can literally bounce over relatively high structures with ease. She can't actually levitate, but jumping really high and the addition of wings almost makes up for it. Unlike a warp-aci, Rhiya can't maintain this for very long periods of time.

Trivia:
After merging with the warp-aci, Rhiya has found an increased liking towards hotpockets, as well as some other few mundane foods and drinks. She's also developed a fear of drakes and things with too much teeth.
Rhiya's tail is completely prehensile and extremely strong. She can use it to hang off overhanging structures, but it's useless as a fighting tool. She can also lengthen or shorten it at will.

I'd be willing to join, aside from two issues I'm not sure you'd be willing to cope with...

1) I'm very unreliable. I join role-plays and end up forgetting about them half the time, accidentally killing off other players, as they were waiting for me to reply.
2) Moreover, my computer time is even less reliable as I lose it if I ever even get a C. Which I do. Frequently.

If you don't mind those two, and the fact that I may not get half the mature statements, I'd like to join.

The spider-drone likes like less of an insect that the flying disc did? Raek must know some straaaaange insects! :U

The drone that's out right now is actually the very same one that was scuttling around after the original flying disc was recalled (after Raek chomped it), and before Giles' and Payden's brawl. Raek even noticed it then. (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,6015.msg280727.html#msg280727) "Great, another fake bug."

Ah. *Snrks, before whacking the subscription button*

About that Glitch! Raek's highly distracted at the moment-mostly by the fact he pretty much shoved himself into a situation where he's having to respond to multiple speakers. There's a bit too much going on for him to remember everything. Heh, right now he doesn't even recall seeing that particular drone previously. He might later...when things quiet down for a few minutes and he can think over recent events.

I think you could liken to, in a bid to avoid a mental overload, shunting some more or less recent things into a corner for later...if he can even remember where he stuck them in the first place.

As to knowing some strange bugs...why yes; yes he does. Maybe sometime I can tell you about that.

My apologies for any confusion caused on your part.

Urf.  Sorry I haven't posted much, but between work and getting ready for AC it's been a madhouse.  Hopefully after AC things will be a bit quieter and I can increase my post rate a bit.  I'll try to get one more post in before I leave though.  It'll likely be something to the effect of him running off and scouting out the periphery of the city.

Rar. I am back to apply for this shit. Sorry for the form, but I'll be back to correct it.

Edit: Revised the character form to go with the RP.

Name: Jessica Stellan, a.k.a. Queen of Spades, Nocturne, Shadowplay

Gender: Female

Species/Race: Brown rat / Angel

Physical Description: Standing about 5'8" tall, athletically built, Jessica is quite tightly muscled and weighs significantly more than she looks. She has a heart-shaped face that only suffers a bit from the elongation of her muzzle, full lips and a particularly curious and slightly dirty smile which works to enhance her features. If one could sum up her looks in just a couple of words, it would probably be 'lovably mischievous', which is wholly appropriate. And if there is anything about her appearance that she would say she isn't entirely satisfied with, it's that she's received an ample amount of hips but not quite so much bust. She usually tries to dress in black and green, preferring skin-tight but flexible materials with loose and ornamental clothing on top, and typically dresses in a particular sort of decorative leotard with a manner of short-sleeved jacket and covering, decorative short pants added to it, all in embroidered black and green. And she never goes anywhere without her three-pointed jester's hat, even if she has to stick it in a pocket or hold it in her hand. She keeps her very, very red hair short and spiky.

Personality: Almost permanently smiling, grinning, sneering or chuckling, Jessica often comes off as a bit crazy, but generally manages to turn this into merely another likable characteristic quirk, as fortunately most people aren't able to tell just whether if she is crazy, or genuinely insane. Though mostly a tomboy on the outside, as she has been hardened by experience and her profession, this is merely a layer on top of a deeper something that sometimes shows through; a sly sharpness that can sometimes put people off. For understandable reasons, she tends to keep others at a clear distance, and as uncertain of her as necessary, and has cultivated tremendous acting skills and numerous facets to her personality. She is as much a trickster personally as she is professionally.

History: An unwanted child, Jessica was given away by her mother not very long after her birth, taken in by a man she thought was a traveling scholar. In fact, he was a magician and a retired mobster hitman, on the run from his former employers. At first intending to leave Jessica at the nearest convenience, when he realized she was in fact of Angelic heritage he understood what sort of an asset she could be, accepting her as his own and raising and training her. When the two crossed a traveling circus, he was easily able to get a job using his skills, and for years he worked as an illusionist and odd job-man around the tents, while Jessica learned to be an acrobat, then a juggler, then a magician and sleight-of-hand artist and finally a mentalist. They had plenty of time, before they had to settle the score with their past.
Of the time after her 'father' died and she left the circus, Jessica very seldom speaks, and little is known. She never returned, choosing instead to go full circle after her father and pursue a shadier line of work. It's not clear how long it has been since then, and Jessica herself doesn't know fully either. She still looks not a day older than she did back then, but something has changed her profoundly, sealing her away from the outside world in a way.

Combat Abilities: In her many years of circus work, Jessica, always a talented child and quick on the uptake, acquired a whole array of skills and quirks, her Angelic blood quite some assistance in this. Trained by the man she only ever refers to as 'father', she is skilled at using illusion and light-bending magic, or at least she was. Nowadays, it seems that this has turned into some form of 'shadow-manipulation' instead, for whatever reason, which she mainly uses for concealment and trickery but which she can employ as a weapon as well or in junction with her other abilities. Furthermore, she is a very talented acrobat and possesses extraordinary strength in addition to speed and reflexes honed even further than those of a regular Angel. This because almost all of her life she has carried significant amounts of knives, blades and even lead weights hidden about her person, at nearly all times, building up a hard strength which can also give her dazzling speed should she discard all the metal she usually has on her.

Other abilities of note: Most illusion and sleight-of-hand magic includes a hefty bit of psychology into it, and further experience at working people after her departure from the circus has made Jessica an accomplished, though not quite masterly, mentalist. Her 'peculiar' mentality also allows her to be quite slippery in return, while still being able to exercise the kind of focus needed to pull off most of the stunts she can. She is also a skilled pickpocket and plenty talented with almost any sort of mechanical device she comes across, presuming it isn't more complex than a regular watch or a car engine.

Heya! Quick question (though it might elicit a DUH! response...):

Considering the involvement of angels and fae, which universe does this take place in? I don't want to submit a character that inadvertently is of an unknown species from a nonexistent country carrying illegal/uninvented items...

An alternate Furrae, so to speak. Humans exist, though are slightly uncommon.

Also, me and Tipod have characters that use guns, but firearms aren't too advanced.

I don't know why I'm posting this, it was all in intro...

Well, here we go. I took a gander at the other profiles, and tried to make Keele have visible limits and faults in an attempt to keep him from falling too far into Marty Stuism, while giving him at least something to defend himself with compared to the other PCs. And yes, it is long. I know. I was bored. So sue me. =P

Also, I'm hoping this doesn't break the double-posting rule, as it's an RP board...

If I did anything wrong plot/setting-wise or have questions, please let me know. =3

Name: Tu'Keelah Mockingbird (a.k.a. Keele)
Gender: Male
Phenotypical Age: Late Twenties (Actually centuries old)
Species/Race: Arctic Fox -- Angel/Cubi Hybrid

Physical Description: 6'1"/154 lbs (186 cm/70 kg). He's quite a clean white, as expected of his subspecies, with cyan eartips, tailtip, and long blue hair/headfur tied into a ponytail in the back and split up front in large bangs (Think Masaomi Oogami, or post-flashback Laguna Loire). He has a pair of brown eyes, and behind him, his large pair of fletched wings are a sort of gradient of cyan to white, from the top down (the same goes for his cephalic wings, though he generally keeps them well-hidden). Below them, on the small of his back is his clan's symbol in cyan -- a bird with outstretched wings seemingly trapped in an impossible cube. As for clothing, he's often seen dressed in an ultramarine blue blazer (often left unbuttoned), the outer edge of the lapel outlined with a white stripe, and a pair of white stripes encircling the ends of the sleeves. He also wears a pair of similarly colored slacks, along with a white button-down collared shirt beneath his blazer (often left untucked). Around his neck, in place of a tie, he wears a long piece of black ribbon or cloth tied into a large floppy bow (that is to say, it's loose and hanging like a bolo tie, not small and tight like a traditional bowtie). Finally, he wears a pair of brown loafers, a few gold rings, a pair of round, nez-pince glasses perched upon his muzzle, and a bronze brooch in the shape of a thin piece of movable type behind a carefully shaped quill (the symbol of the Sangjeong Yemun). For self defense, he has his magic, and a pistol much like a 1906 Nambu Type-1 tucked inside his jacket (it only has one 8-round 8mm clip in it and nothing else in terms of bullets however; he didn't expect to use it except in emergencies, and even so, the old thing has a tendency to jam). On his back, he carries a relatively large backpack. At the beginning of the RP, it starts with rations, water, a folder with a few sheets of paper and photos, several plastic sheet protectives, and a rudimentary first aid kit. In one pocket is his wallet, with several local coins and (most importantly) paper bills and reciepts.

Personality: Keele is a rather unassuming mild-mannered soul normally. Long days working in the quiet confines of a library and book repair/copying room had practically sapped all the boisterousness out of him. Still, he does feel the traditional need to be, well, angelic (in both the "kind" and the "conniving" sense). Of course, this changes considerably when books get involved, especially of the rare/previously undiscovered sort. He is rather protective of any interesting, important, or valuable books he finds, boiling into a panicky, frothy rage if anyone so much as dog-ears a page.

History: Son of a pair of well-to-do arctic fox couple, Harpre and Li Mockingbird (Cubi and angel, respectively, and by sheer luck, considering how common angel kids are), Keele was raised in relative comfort. He lived a somewhat sheltered life in a modest-sized town that his parents had dominion over, playing with the town's children whilst all their parents connived and bickered over the terms of their protection over it. As the political drama worsened as the decades passed, Harpre and Li hurriedly sent Keele off to the distant, prestigious Sangjeong Yemun Academy, home of one of the largest historical archives on Furae, keeping documents, photographs, books, records and other media from a number of different nations, from modern day news clippings to millenia-old genealogies. He'd never heard of the SAIA; rather, he'd had his survival and detection lessons from his mother (home-schooling might not be as good as formal academics, but hey, it's better than nothing). His angelic tendencies got him into trouble right off the bat, including quite a bit of seraphic rivalry within the academy (with all the requisite alliances, backstabbings, and false promises). Of course, all this drama paid off for him in the end; he had eventually managed to acquire a highly sought-after position as a "runner boy" in the ancient literary department of the Sangjeong Yemun archives, spending most of his time carefully moving packages and papers from A to B as well as serving as a walking directory. But after a century or so away from home with almost no contact with his parents, he began to grow a tad homesick, and managed to get a short vacation to visit his hometown.

Alas, a lot can change in a few decades.

When he returned, he had found his old residence supplanted by a grander, gilded palace. Its owner, another cubi as it turned out, had ursuped and soul-murdered (or arranged for it, at the least) his own parents, framing them for a local string of unsolved traditional murders and using the overall feeling of discontent in the town as a foothold to take power. Naturally, rumors of Keele's involvement also spread and had become accepted as fact as well.

After that, Keele's memory gets a bit hazy. He doesn't speak much of it, attributing it to a psychological supression of memory as a self-defense mechanism, but he can vaguely remember that he was missing quite a few patches of fur when he woke up at a hospital in a village nearby his hometown, and that he needed a new academy uniform from all the rips and stains.

When he arrived back at the Sangjeong Yemun Academy, he pulled back into a life of reclusion, practically living solely in his dormitory, classrooms, and the annals of the archives, only leaving to other locations when required or absolutely necessary. It was about this time when he fell deeper into his fascination with reading and books (if there was one thing that he didn't acquire from his Cubi mother, it was her attention span or lack thereof), preferring to get lost in the fantasies of ancient mythos and historically renowned fiction rather than face the reality of losing his parents in a rather permanent fashion. He also resigned himself to his work as well, quietly accepting a job as an apprentice record keeper, sorting through and appraising newer collections into the archives while maintaining older ones, before becoming a full-out archivist specializing mostly in ancient literature. Of course, his higher ups finally thought it was about high time he spent some time outside, so they sent him off to track down the last group of researchers sent into The City to determine the provenance of several collections that have been claimed to have been found while inside said city and never returned, some of whom were good friends of his (though, secretly, he's more interested in anything they might've found before they disappeared. He is often paid on a per-document basis on new collections as well...).

Combat Abilities:
Being a scholar, he's completely untrained in combat. His ability to control the forms of his wings, save for hiding them, have atrophied enough for it to be somewhat useless until he is re-taught the techniques through a formal course. Regarding magic, he has very little meant overtly for combat; rather, he has a very niche ability stemming from his education and apprenticeship. He is able to telekinetically manipulate paper and paper products, including books. He also has the ability to temporarily harden paper to the strength of steel as he does so (which also temporarily waterproofs it in the process), and temporarily "link" two or more sheets of paper together (think magnets) by infusing the microscopic fibrous network of paper with his own thaumaturgic energy. These are abilities generally reserved for sorting away papers, cleaning clutter, and aiding in book and document repair and restoration, but it does come in handy if, say, he needs an impromptu sword or blunt instrument. Of course, he can't just go give everyone papercuts all willy-nilly; he does have his limits. For instance, his abilities work mostly in a line-of-sight manner; he can't start manipulating on any paper he can't see or has anything below a 100% sure idea where said paper is (granted that it isn't too far away and not magically disguised as something else), and cannot keep a good hold on paper moving out of his field of vision for long, not to mention completely losing it if something or someone even so much as touches it in the process (of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that it won't stop being metal-hard for a few seconds while his imbued energy dissipates and traveling at a high velocity). Furthermore, his abilities are limited to a certain radius (~10 m) around him; any attempts to go further than that will require logarithmically more energy as the distance from him increases. He is also limited to his reflexes, so no stopping bullets in mid-air for him (unless his protection is already set up, and even then, the sharp, compressed shock of several rounds can disrupt his concentration enouguh to make the shield fall apart.). He can't move anything using the paper (like, say, if his traveling group needed a stepping stone or an elevator) that exceeds how much he can lift with his own two arms. Furthermore, although he can manipulate many pieces of paper at the same time, he has his limits as to how much control he has over each piece of paper as that number increases.

Lastly, paper, even if it is hard as metal and infused with his energy, is still flammable. Thusly, big fires scare him shitless.

Other abilities of note: Aside from his ability to do moderate repairs to books with the proper tools at hand (it was his job, after all...), Keele is a decent cook and can whip up a nice meal with the proper materials and ingredients at hand (even though he doesn't eat much, as they say: the best way to a person's heart is their stomach). Also, being part angel, he can produce a modest ball of light if needed, as well as toughen his skin (though the only sharpening he'll ever be doing is on his claws with a whetstone and a pair of nail clippers). Lastly, he still has the mind-listening ability of cubis, but often tends keeps it off unless really needed; he sees it as a hindrance to a building of trust when one is monitoring the surfaces thoughts of the other party, and bigger trust leads to bigger benefits.

Trivia:

EDIT: Whoops, forgot about his job skills...

Yes, I did. I thought that the whole appearance-takes-towards-cubi-always thing would've been circumvented by the fact that his parents were both of the arctic fox species (and oh, yes. The cubi headwings and minor abilities would've already have shown for a long while. His phenotypical age is "late twenties", not his actual), and I did mention that the sheer fact Harpre and Li even had a kid was really mostly luck, considering how rare angel kids are. I suppose I should've gone more detail into the parents. Pretty much the long and short of it is: inheritance-rich, somewhat affluent angel/town guardian in need of assistance in the strength department meets physically stronger, recently widowed cubi in need of new money/power. The two talk, they decide they've got much in common, they get family/clan approval, they marry, many years pass, they have a kid after quite many attempts, and before they knew it, they're being chased by townspeople wielding torches and pitchforks after a series of diplomatic faux pases on the part of Harpre, the cubi.

Did I miss something?

I have updated the Character Index (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5978.msg278370.html#msg278370) to include Stygian and Escher's profile. In addition, I have made a new list; "Nonposters/Dropouts/Unsure Status". Escher, you have been placed on this list, but will be moved to either the Active List or the Waiting List, depending on Boogeyman's response to your application. Also; ShadesFox, Teh_Hobo, shadowterm, Yugo, Keaton the Black Jackal, and lucas marcone, you have all been placed in the new aforementioned list. If you read this, and your placement on this list is incorrect, please speak up here.

(also, boogeyman, you still have yet to put the character index link in the first post... :poke )

Besides, Andrace would never do something like ordering Raek to dine on fillet-o-foxy. She isn't in the habit of letting herself get PO'd enough, but if she were ever to decide Keele belongs on "a little list", she'd most likely take matters into her own hands... and fangs... and claws... and various other sharp pointy instruments hidden about her person.

Well Escher, you're plainly very interested. However, we've got a LOT of people as is and, I'm sorry, but I'm worried about your character's role as a librarian being too similar to Mel's character. Some sort of editing, if maybe he worked for a museum, a university, an archaeology institute, and it might work better, but as is the coincidence is just kind of awkward to swing in a story or in character interactions.

And as mentioned, we're full for now. Maybe at a later date when there's more space.

What a shame. Witt does it because it keeps his hands limber, not because it looks good.

Also, it requires a certain dexterity, and hence proves the alcohol he's knocked back has no effect on him. Or would, if anyone was paying any attention...

Edit:

I have made a slight addition to my profile, adding the info to what will be referred to from now on as the van's "sensor stack" that is used in my most recent post (and I can't believe I forgot to at least mention it originally). While I did make it quite limited, if you don't like that it seems to have come out of nowhere, boogeyman, I'll remove it if you ask.

Righto, gave the profile a bit of a change. Hope it's enough.

Well, I wanted to keep his interest in books and career in dealing with written materials considering I rather like the whole paper ability the guy has, so I went for a somewhat similar job as a historical archivist rather than a librarian, extending his breadth from solely books to equal focus on books, documents, maps, photographs, and other media (though with a preference to books). Is that still too similar?

Lemme know if there're any problems or if a spot opens up!

Really sorry guys, but until I return, Booge will handle Jinx for me. It will hopefully only be a few more days, but if my past is any indication, the Universe hates me, so I really have no clue as to when I could rejoin. I'll try to keep up as  lurker though.

Name: Kaela Silverstone
Gender: Female
Age: 40
Race: Being
Species: Wolf

Physical Description

Height: 6'6''
Weight: 200 .lbs
Build: Large frame, physically fit.
Eyes: Amber
Hair: None
Fur Color: White head, neck, chest, and stomach, with a predominantly gray body and legs.
Distinguishing characteristics: Tall, thick, and stocky, Kaela is generally large all around, enough so that most trying to find a fight tend to think twice after a good once-over. Subtle lines of age run across her face where time and a great deal of stress has taken its toll, and numerous scars lay hidden beneath her fur as well as they can, the results of a few too many close calls throughout her career. She typically wears a battle dress uniform and flak jacket with camouflage (and sometimes face paint) appropriate to her location or destination while actually on the job, but if she wishes to be a little more low key or simply dress casually her attire can vary considerably. The one thing that remains constant is the heavy pair of tinted goggles that she wears on all occasions, although it usually sits unused on her forehead.

Personality: Having learned to seperate her professional and regular lives, Kaela's encountered personality is vastly dependent on whether or not she's on the job. In a casual setting, Kaela is extremely friendly, outgoing, and generally approachable, often drinking with friends, making lewd jokes, and participating in whatever she happens to decide would be fun, although she lacks the flirtatiousness of her youth. During work, however, she becomes focused, determined, and even outright ruthless at times. Despite these differences, she is consistently extremely loyal to those who earn and are willing to maintain her trust, and will go to great lengths including homocide and other less tasteful acts for them.

History: Whatever one might think or know about Kaela when they meet her, it is difficult to mistake her for anything but what she is: a fighter. The well-hewn muscles and many scars of honor she wears make this clear. Hailing from the deep forest, Kaela grew up in a clan that made its living through both hunting and warfare. Using their skills derived from hunting the local fauna for meat and tool-making supplies, they kept the local bandits in check through ambush and hit-and-run tactics, receiving generous payouts from nearby towns in exchange for the promises of help and protection. As such, Kaela grew up in an environment where she always had a bow or knife in hand, whether on the hunt or helping fellow clanmembers to clean and gut the catches that their hunts brought in. Taught both stalking and combat skills, the wolf grew to enjoy what she did, learning quickly what her parents and others were willing to teach her, quickly earning the position of one of the bandit stalkers by her teenage years.

Unfortunately, it was not to last. Having made many enemies through their interventions, her extended family was eventually struck a fatal blow by a lightning raid on their homeland that had been orchestrated by a handsomely paid company of mercenaries that left many of them, including her own parents, dead or dying. Having been out on patrol at the time, Kaela had no chance to participate in the unexpected battle, instead making her first priority upon return a bloody vengeance. After extracting some information from a few stragglers they managed to catch on the tail end of their assailants who were hastily making their way back to civilization, the remaining hunter-warriors staged a tragic fire at the home of the small-time criminal lord that had taken the lives of their families. They parted ways immediately after, and Kaela, with no other skills but those of the arts of murder, took up a post as a blade and assassin for hire. She has led a long and illustrious career, and is now taking her last few high-paying jobs before finally going into retirement.

Combat Abilities: Many years of experience have lent Kaela an extensive knowledge of various battle tactics, and the older wolf shows her most competence when striking from the shadows and surprising her enemies, although she is familiar with most blades and ranged weaponry. Always doing her best to keep up with the current level of technology, she makes great use of both sniper rifles and shotguns, although she is still most comfortable with her mother's black machete, which she always carries in a thick wooden holster at the center of her waist. In close direct combat, Kaela relies on her physical power and agility, using both grapples and her knife to make quick and lethal work of an opponent, warding off their blades with the knuckles of her left hand. Ideally, however, they should not even see her coming. Kaela is patient, and will trail and stalk an enemy for days before delivering her killing stroke. The older wolf uses ambush raids and mobility to harry her targets and bounties, often using her speed and stealth in jobs where vulnerable targets are unprotected deep in hostile-held territory, always assuming that they wield magic and greater power than she can hope to wield. Without an enemy to see and vent their energies upon, whatever powers Kaela's opponents have at their disposal are rendered useless.

Strengths: Physically strong, tough, and both bodily and mentally quick. Her great resevoir of experience and style of warfare lets her draw upon previous lessons and often find unconventional solutions to problems.

Weaknesses: Kaela has no magical power, and when her plans of surprise and unseen attack fail against a powerful opponent such as a 'Cubi or demon, she must concede and make an organized retreat.

Alright, yugo, help me out here. I recently updated (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5978.msg292546.html#msg292546) the Character Index (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5978.msg278370.html#msg278370). You were moved the the "Nonposters/Dropouts/Unsure Status" list due to inactivity, with the Eleanor Jyraneth profile still attached. You have obviously returned, but with a new profile. Is the Elanor Jyraneth profile still active? If not, could you by any chance confirm Keaton's status? (and while you're at it, why did you go inactive and drop the first profile, if you are willing to say?)

On a related note, it is becoming more and more important that you at least link the character index in the first post, Boogeyman. Seriously, why have you been completely silent and neglecting on this every time I mention it? Me saying it over and over is starting to get old.

(completely different subject)
...Is it wrong that I am now -very- interested in future interactions between Andrace, Mykst, and Kali? :animesweat

Yugo's discussed this new character with me. Since Yugo's other character is kind of dependant on Keats' posting, and Keats has thus far been silent, I've allowed him an additional character.

(minor note: I said "link" to the index, not copy it youself, so you don't have to constantly maintain it every time someone's status changes. For instance, It needs to be updated now with yugo's new profile. Rather than you having to do that yourself, however, I can take care of that and everything else that will come up in the future myself if you just put a link and only a link to my post with the CI. But, if you are actually willing to maintain the list yourself, that's fine also, I just imagine it would be easier for yourself if you didn't)

Keaton hasn't had any real muse to post much here at CMF, and since Elenor and Keaton are pretty much operating a duo, I can't really post as Elenor without interaction from Keaton. So I introduced a new character to play in the meantime (with Boog's consent beforehand, of course).

Well, I don't want to press the issue, but I rather deal with this now rather than wait 'x' months and 'y' days to deal with it later when I'm more likely to be busy with collegework than to bugger around with character sheets.

Is Keele, after hammering on his CS for a bit, different enough now? If not, any suggestions? (Preferably keeping his paper abilities along with a good explanation of their origin).

Since you don't seem to have gotten a Round Tuit yet boog, I made an update to the Character Index (//http://) under my post anyway to move Yugo to the active list and include the new profile. Feel free to either overwrite the existing character index in the first post with this one, or as per my other suggestion, just replace the one in the first post with a link to mine (the reason I suggest that way is so no one's ever waiting on you to do the updating :P )

Hey boog, did my cameradrone find anything?

Quote
...At about the same time, he head a weird and distant sound on the external micophones again, and started getting a few faint and strange data readings as Pamcawv attempted to interpret the faint sound and synchonize it with readings on the radar/sonar/seismic sensors and some small snippets of other data from the cameradrones. Traxen was midly interested in whatever this anomaly was, but he didn't want to take time to investigate it himself, what with nearly being ready to enter the "City".
The drones that just returned needed to be recharged, so he dispatched a new small cameradrone, slaving it to Pamcawv and setting the objective. The drone left through the top of the van, gained some altitude, and then began wafting it's way in the general direction of the source of the anomaly. Its camera and other sensors provided new data to Pamcawv, which continually altered the drone's flight path to bring it closer and closer.

(yeah, it's about the bus crash. probably not a real plot hook, but hey, I'm a player. I couldn't resist going off the rails :P )

The rat's hard look lasted for only a couple of moments, but was gratuitously shared to Traxen as well.
Traxen's not actually in the bar, nor does he even have a drone deployed--he's still in his van outside (as he will be for pretty much the entire RP) and has no way of actually seeing anything in the bar at the moment, nor should anyone even see his van unless they look out a window. Traxen's talking to Payden through a headset Traxen gave to him. On the subject, Jess also should have no way of actually hearing what's said in Payden's headphones, unless her head was really close to his. Minor detail (yeah, nitpicky), but still...

To stygian and spottedkitty: A slight terminology correction, but Traxen's vehicle is specifically not a bus, but only a van. "Bus" is a little misleading into possibly giving the impression that the vehicle is bigger in size than it actually is (though it is still about the size of a "small" bus, and in fact resembles that in shape more than it does a van, it is still misleading). A close way to put it would be the shape of this (http://www.meteo.uni-bonn.de/projekte/4d-clouds/bbc/instruments/lidar_rivm_nl.jpg), but the size and style of this (http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0fS81PYeRM4mt/610x.jpg). Put those two together and throw in alot of heavy homemade modification and armoring, and you're pretty close to what Traxen's riding in.

EDIT: In light of Boog's most recent post, forget it x(

Reread my post. Traxen didn't tell any drone to follow Alex, he told the whole van to follow Alex. Howeve, since Traxen gave that order while inside the van and not broadcasting his voice, Kyirri won't have heard it. All he'll see is that the van is following Alex, but it also won't be apparent that the van is driving itself, because the only window is covered (though it might make Kyirri curious as to how Traxen actually knows what's going on outside his van)

Unless there's anything else that the guard is saying that I missed, Traxen already covered everything...

But anyway, we're in the outlying suburbs, right? Surely some pickup truck is lying about, and even if it doesn't run, like Traxen said, he can just tow it around. All they really need is just something on wheels that the whole group can sit on. Heck, it can even be a rickshaw or one of those horse(gryphon?)-drawn flatbed things, and Traxen can even whip one of those together with available materials. Finding the intact pickup truck or whatnot would just be quicker and easier.

Look, what I'm confused about is this: The gate guard appears to have spoken in a manner/tone that is intended to disagree/refute Traxen's plan, when in fact, the words he actually said functionally agree with Traxen's plan. Well, I'd hope he doesn't find out...*Snrk* Though it's probably quite visible-his arms might be thickly muscled but they're not insanely so.

He looked at the van more closely and noted the decently large, and most likely, powerful firearm on the top of the van, which he had dismissed as some type of bizarre style choice the beings were on at first.
Important thing, basilisk; the turret is concealed under a dome, so no one's seen what's actually under it yet. Also, in case you didn't see (which I wouldn't blame anyone for not) the turret used to be a gatling gun, but after a discussion with Boogeyman, it was changed (I won't say "downgraded") from that to a simpler, and much less ammo-hungry heavy-caliber machine gun, and my profile was updated to reflect this.

EDIT: Rejected line for the part where Traxen's talking about how there shouldn't be any actual traffic in the City:
"Come on, for all intents and purposes, this is a dead city. Even if there are any people left, they certainly aren't going to be doing any of their old daily-lives commuting as if everything was all fine and dandy and nothing was wrong. I mean, what do you think this is? [Prototype]?"

He noticed the mild pain from the roo-rat, though ignored it... it was mild and poor fare... if he was going to feed, he'd have to create the appropriate emotions.
Erm, sorry to be a bit nit-picky, but Kyirri doesn't radiate emotions, ever. What he felt was physical (not emotional) pain.

Kyirri does not radiate emotions. Cubi would be able to detect this anomaly immediately.
It's an easy detail to miss, I admit.

Updated the Character Index (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,5978.msg278370.html#msg278370), it's been a bit overdue. Removed Stygian from the actives list, and I also shunted murmur and Escher from the waiting list to the inactive list, as we don't seem to have heard from them in awhile.

Edit: aaaaand index updated again for the below profile.

2 Very large and important notes for those involved

1: I have discussed the introduction of Bas to City for a little while now, with Boog... and this is merely an experiment and his playing will only happen when Ed is not in the City, for all intents and purposes i will only have 1 character at a time, the other character will either be sleeping off injuries, resting, or off doing something of no value to the game

2: If these characters are forced to interact, i specifically choose Bas because, in each of their back-stories, they have interacted, and are not very fond of eachother... If they are forced to interact, there will be no hijacking of thread space, no pumping up of either character and no long descriptions of their back-stories... their interactions will be violent, one of them (in this case, most likely Ed) will be left unconscious, and then there will be only one character to RP for, for the conceivable future of the game.  If someone wants to hear their back-stories, you can either PM me. Or, if you'd prefer, and it fits in with IC interaction, that works as well... My characters will not be working together as their is a long-term grudge.

Name: Baseel (pronounced Bah Seel)  Wolkshammer, AKA Bas, The Basilisk
Race: Demon
Gender: Male
Species: Demon Canine, German Shepherd
Family and Associations: (Father) Leofric, (Mother) Katia, (Brothers) Chimare, Ragnar, Alaric, (Sisters) Claire, Chariece, Elyaina

Height: 6'4" without horns, 7'4" with
Weight: 230 Lbs
Physical Description: At 528 years Bas has been around for quite some time, and yet, none of his age comes through in his appearance.  Tall, and thin, yet well muscled, one would find him to be the poster child of the demon race, at least in appearance.  He Looks to be in his mid 20's by being standards.

Across his back, starting at the top of his head, and running all the way down his back is a near jet black fur across his front is a silver tinged with a hint of brown, running across his face, down his throat and down his body, and ending in pure silver extremities.  He has full black patches around his eyes, giving him an almost raccoon mask coloring. His muzzle is also mostly black, with brown around the corners of his mouth, and a silver ring right as his snout begins to broaden.  A black diamond shape sits at the center of his head and goes from between his eyebrows to the crown of his head.  Half the diamond is hidden by Bas's hair.

His cephalic hair is a reddish blond, and is worn in long cables, tied together with silver rings.  In combat, they seem to flail about as if snakes on a Medusa's head.  At the ends of the cables, various religious icons are tied.  If you ask Bas about them, he'll tell you quite bluntly that they're the souls of those who have wronged him to the point of deserving a fate worse than death.  Or, at least, the remnants of them.

Bas sports a rather impressive pair of horns that sprout just behind his eyes, they curve up and around, facing slightly forward at the tips.

His wings match his fur patterns quite nicely, dark at the top, moving to brown about the shoulders, then silver at center mass down. though the bottom wings are rimmed in black as well.  His wingspan is 16 feet at maximum, and given his musculature, he seems capable of flight.

For clothing he usually wears a dark, forest green tunic, with a black undershirt with gold chords for trim and matching pants.

History: The Wolkshammer family is a bit of mystery, wrapped in a puzzle, encased  in an enigma. What is known is that they're very firm believers in keeping the demon lineage pure, and they also seem to breed some of the most clever and racial stereotype-defying members of the demon families.  Bas fits this mold quite nicely.  He doesn't actively engage in random violence, and doesn't believe wholesale slaughter is the end all be all of amusement of the more powerful.  That isn't to say he isn't brutal when he fights, nor does he avoid combat.  He merely doesn't pray on the innocent, instead his mere presence usually stirs up a couple of adventurers  stupid enough to try and 'slay a horrible creature'.

He's the 3rd son of Duke Leofric Wolkshammer, his 2 older brothers are Chimare and Ragnar, he gets along with the as most young siblings do, they bicker constantly, and yet still love each other.  As the 3rd in line for the dukedom, Bas never had to worry about trying to build family alliances,, and his father was much more relaxed about what the demon got himself into, and who he was interested in, though Leo did 'gently nudge' young Bas towards demonesses.

Personality wise, Bas is unpredictable, yet friendly.  Despite his intimidating appearance, he gives off a very likable aura, something rare for a demon.  He is friendly with many, but friends with few.  Those who Bas does truly befriend, he would be willing to do almost anything for.  Very loyal, and proud, Bas also feels that honesty and trustworthiness are key, as one's reputation is all one has when they live for millennia.

Combat Abilities:  As with most demons he can harden his skin as if it were armor and grow fingers into long, dagger like claws.  He's used these skills most of his life, and they only add to his fighting prowess.  Preferably, Bas likes to fight with dark magic, and will cast spells ranging from consuming or shrouding the light in an area, to forming exploding bolts of dark energy.  Other spells of note are shadowy chains, with which Bas will use similar to Cubi wings, and his ability to create a beast, a "Shadow Fiend" as he describes it.  Which is more like a 2nd, magic-less demon, than anything else... The fiend is feral, and, although accepts basic commands form Bas, it has very little power for thought in and of itself.

Death Bolt (bread and butter combat attack spell): a basic spell comprised of pure dark energy, it's explosive power is based on how much energy the caster puts into the spell.  The bolt is a thin, glossy-black, arrow-like projectile that is cast towards a target with great speed, rough estimates but the bolt's speed around 300 FPS (feet per second).  On impact with a solid surface (either an opponent, or a wall) the magic is explosively released, expanding in all directions with great physical force.  If given enough time, and focus Bas can have the bolt explode inside a victim, making the already dangerous spell even more deadly.

He can summon but 2 items, and they are normally stored at his family's castle.  A massive 4 foot diameter metal rimmed wooded shield (heavily enchanted to increase it's durability... not unbreakable, but close) with a metal boss, and a double edged battle axe which he has named Reaper.  Reaper is enchanted, much like the shield for enhanced durability, capped at both ends, the bottom grip of the shaft with metal spikes, and the massive axe-head at the top.  Long, hook like protrusions form the edges of the axe head allowing it to be used to grab as well as slash an opponent.

Trivia: Bas is known to enter and exit relationships at whimsy, currently single, he seems to be quite flirtatious, though usually not serious.

His horns are massive, yet he constantly seems to ignore the fact that they're there.  He's grown soo used to being a demon that he tends to forget the general social stigma of his race.

His Axe and shield were a gift given to him on his 16th birthday, and he has killed more sentients with the shield than the axe... though both pale in comparison to his body count from magic.

His title, "The Basilisk" comes from his use of flesh to stone... although it isn't common knowledge, Bas's particular brand of the spell hides the magic residue from soul-stealing and devouring.

Submitting Character information in hopes of being able to join The City with.

Name:Brayan Darksoul

Gender:Male

Species/Race:Rabbit Demon

Physical Description:At a height of 6'5", Brayan is taller than most. He has a slightly muscular and athletic build to his body. The only noticeable features to his face is a scar across his left eye and a part of his right ear is missing. His hair is silver in color and reaches down to his shoulders and usually keeps it combed back as to keep it out of his face. His eyes are green though the left one is a bit darker than the right due to the injury that had caused the scar across it, though most wouldn't be able to tell as he wears sunglasses in order to hide the difference in his eye color which he considers weird. He has 10 foot wingspan, and his wings themselves are not identical in appearance. His left wing is red and feathery due to some cosmetic changes he had done to it while the right one is black and bat-like in appearance. His normal clothing attire that he wears is a black and red robe with armor plating over his torso and arms.

Personality:Brayan is usually calm and collected, though certain situations and cause him to, from his point of view, relive terrible events of his past that usually leave him almost blind with rage that usually end with him collapsing after a bit of time from exhaustion. These episodes are usually far apart when they happen. He is also a bit of a daredevil and likes the thrill of doing things most others normally wouldn't do.

History:Brayan had lived with his sister and parents in a small town in the country with that was relatively peaceful save for the occasional attack by something evil creature that was usually taken care of by adventurers passing through. But one night the village was hit by a large bandit attack, and the bandits had one rule they went by, leave no one alive. Brayan and his sister along with some friends were able to escape due to their their parents trying to hold off what bandits they could for as long as they were able to. But not two hours into running as far and fast as they could did a small group of bandits from the ones that attacked caught up with them. Brayan and the others quickly decided on a meeting place and then split off into various directions to try and shake their persuers. Brayan was able to shake the ones that went after him and silently made his way to the meeting point and arrived there early the following morning only to find that his sister had made it but as unlucky enough to not have shaken her pursuer and was dead. Filled with rage, Brayan pulled out a small knife he had with him and ran at his sisters killer whose back was turned and jumped on his back, continually stabbing him till he was dead. He figured since none of his friends were there they must have been unlucky as his sister. he slowly started walking in the direction of the closest town, only looking back once to see flames and smoke off in the distance where the town he came from should be. After that, he vowed to become a strong adventurer and prevent stuff like this from ever happening to others. Since then he has wandered from place to place, sometimes to train, sometimes to help others, but has never had a set destination.

Combat Abilities:Brayan fights with swords and magic, usually both in conjunction. Often will fight using either a sword in each hand or using magic to control up to eight swords at once in a fight. Also depending on the situation might infuse magical properties into his swords for a short period. He can also use his magic to either give him in increase in his speed or or strength.

Brayan spent several years under various swordsmen to learn his skills with the swords and then several years under various mages to get the magical skill he needed to be able to fight with the swords the way he wanted to. Finally he spent several years in almost complete isolation, training in order to become proficient with the way he wanted to fight.

Other abilities of note:Has some skill in healing magic to heal minor wounds and injuries. Anything more serious and minor gashes, shallow stab wounds or slightly broken bones requires a more adept healer or a doctor.

Besides using magic in conjunction with his swords, Brayan can also use some elemental attack spells as well like fireballs, icicles, and lightning.

Trivia:Because it would be hard for him to carry eight swords with him at once, Brayan has a Warp-Aci that is used solely to bring him the six swords he doesn't carry around with him.

First i have a cousin's wedding in KittyHawk to attend, and then staying a few days at the beach with the fam.  After that, i rush home, do laundry, do some last minute running around, and head off to AnthroCon... soo ya.. i'll have a laptop with me, and, as long as i've got an internet connection, i'll check in from time to time... but for the most part, i'll be disappearing... I do feel slightly guilty about my latest post, it almost feels like "cheating" by being too "genre-savvy"...but Traxen's not the type to ignore an unambiguous warning previous, and from what he's already seen, treat any given situation with the proper respect.

...And I also finally got to play his "macgyver" technical-skills. yay! xD

(side note; yes, the electric prod could also fry some of the mechanisms themselves as he's jabbing into them, but most of the things are overrbuilt and harded from such heavy modification, and he can replace most any small components from simple electrical damage anyway)

Ah, thing is, the roach was on the turretbot. It crawls off after the 'bot's inside the car.

EDIT: Ah, didn't realize the inside was airtight. Rather pictured a lot of clutter. I'll leave it as is then.
Title: Re: The City (OOC, closed until further notice)
Post by: techmaster-glitch on November 04, 2010, 05:34:12 PM
The turretbot is one of the three big ones, and it isn't inside the van yet. Traxen only has the small drones inside, the turretbot has to actually be let in through the back door. He was -about- to fetch the turretbot when he noticed the camera. And....hmm. I interpreted your post as the roach jumping off the turret bot and crawling back underneath the van and up into it, because the turretbot is not in the van yet...

And yes, there is a lot of clutter, but I'm fairly certain I---oh, darn. There -isn't- a note in the original profile about the van being airtight :eek Hokay, I will edit out that line, but it actually doesn't make much difference, Traxen's still disassembling a panel to get to the roach.

Sorry for the late bump, but I thought it proper to post my official resignation from this RP after telling Boog himself.  I just don't have much motivation left for RPing, and a personal decision has also left me unable to want to play as both myself and Gareeku.  If ever he returns and wants to play, he should be able to do so himself.

So...sorry guys.  Aisha's out.

After a few discussions with Boog, it became glaringly apparent that, in terms of teamwork.  Ed was probably the worst choice of characters for this particular game.  Given his willingness to sell people out at the drop of a hat, and a general capricious nature, Baseel seemed a better choice :o

So ya... Thar be demons again!

Oh yeah, new character time! Everyone say hello to Gabriel Angelos, Master of Explosives and All Things That Go BOOM!

Name: Gabriel Angelos

Gender: Male

Species/Race: Cross Fox/Being

Physical Description: Gabriel is fairly young at only 24 years. He stands at approximately 5'10", weighing in at 160 pounds of lean muscle. A military man, Gabriel keeps his silver fur well groomed, with the trademark cross of his species standing out as a striking black. His eyes are yellow-in-black, and almost seem to glow with their own light. The tips of his ears and tail are a rust red. His attire consists of a form fitting, urban-camo muscle shirt, similarly colored cargo pants, black fingerless gloves, combat boots, and a large rucksack he uses to carry his...ordnance.

Personality: Gabriel is a very confident and straightforward man, a product of his military training. He can come across as blunt, but that's simply because he tells it like it is; he doesn't like to pussyfoot around things. Despite this, he is a friendly man, fairly easy to get along with. He has no qualms with killing if he has to, another product of his military training, and he can be quite fierce in combat.

History: Gabriel was born on a military installation, to two military parents. In fact, he comes from a long line of soldiers, stretching back many generations. From a young age he was raised under military values of honor, discipline, integrity, and duty. Even before he was legally able to enlist, his parents trained him in tactics, marksmanship, and unarmed combat. By the time he was old enough, he could already put soldiers of several years to shame.

Throughout his childhood, Gabriel had a certain penchant for...explosives. He made his first Home Made Explosive at the age of five, his first pipe bomb at six, and before long he had the skill to make military-grade explosives, given the materials. His parents not only noticed this, but actually encouraged it! After all, that kind of skill deserves to be nurtured.

To him, Basic Training was a joke. He was fit and disciplined from the start, and breezed right through. Coming out at the top of his class, Gabriel was selected by the Silver Claw, an elite Special Forces group his parents had also belonged to before retiring, as a Demolitions Expert. His training continued for another year, as they drilled him relentlessly. Through hard work, determination, and just a little bit of natural talent, he made it through, and became a full-fledged member of the Silver Claw.

Suffice to say, his parents were very proud of him.

Combat Abilities: As a Spec Ops soldier, Gabriel keeps himself in top shape. His muscles are lean, strong enough to carry and utilize his equipment, yet not so bulky as to hamper his speed. For general combat he carries with him an assault rifle, grenades, and a long knife strapped to his leg. For his specialization, however, he has a rocket launcher and, carried in his rucksack, extra ammo, rockets, demolition charges, claymores, and landmines. While he is proficient with his firearm, as well as unarmed combat, he true skill is in his explosive equipment.

Other abilities of note: Gabriel has extensive knowledge of both chemistry and explosive compounds. Given the proper tools and materials, he can make his own.
Gabriel is also very skilled at making booby traps. Combined with his love and skill with explosives, he can leave some very nasty surprises.

Trivia:
Gabriel plays guitar and sings as a hobby. He is actually quite good.
Despite the dangers inherent to his profession, Gabriel still has all his fingers and toes.

Gabriel's Ordnance/Ammo Count
Five HE-Frag Rockets
Five HEAT Rockets
Eight C-4 Demo Charges
Eight Claymores
Ten APERS Landmines
Ten Magazines 5.56 Assault Rifle Ammo

Rammenstein, just remember that I intend to keep track of how many explosives you use at a time and it'll be possible to run out. You mentioned your character can make more later, just know your max carrying capacity *grins*

Of course! He doesn't have bottomless clips, after all. That wouldn't be fun at all. I imagine he started with about twenty rockets, ten HE-Frag and ten HEAT, about ten claymores, ten C-4 Demo Charges, and ten Anti Personnel Landmines, with ten magazines of ammo for his Assault Rifle. That'd probably make about...fifty to sixty pounds in his ruck, methinks, just about the average weight I carry in my own ruck. In fact, I think I'll go ahead and put an ordnance count in his profile, to help keep track.

If he got separated from his unit in this place he'd already have used some of that up, and I'm a little concerned about your guy carrying enough ordinance to destroy anything bigger than a convenience store. I believe I'll have to ask you to halve the rockets, eight claymores, eight C-4. You can keep all the landmines and ammo though, I've got no concerns there. Sound reasonable?

Not a problem. I've no qualms with compromising.

Are we waiting on someone specifically?

Personally, I blame Techy.

I would like to get posting, but at this point, it's up to Boog and the mods to tell us if the thread's still alive.

Man, I hope so. I want to break my bad luck streak. It seems like most of the Rp's I join end up dying shortly afterwards.

Honestly it's kinda not. Between work and school these days I don't have time to be running an RP, I figure it's time I officially put this on hiatus. Requesting the mods put this away and whathaveyou, if people are still interested when I have more time and I get my posting mojo back maybe we could unlock it, but I think it's time to call it.
