Gentlemen! That time of year has arrived, when the newfallen snow has mixed with the smell of dirt and mud, and all mankind, trapped in their houses, hear the sound of clattering dice echo through their thoughts like beacons of madness. Fear this time of year, my friend, for you, the lowly geek, shall be driven to calculate the volume of a 10X10X10 square, the force in newtons of a thousand tons of iron falling from the sky, and what, exactly, is meant by a "spoony bard".
I have been told by certain individuals that there is interest for something like this. If people are interested in something like this, they should post here.
I will still be endeavoring to post in my current RP's, and they will not suffer for this - however, I will say that D&D and written RP's are generally different things, and that doing one is not the same insofar as speed of getting things done and interaction. One is a social event, and the other is largely literary in nature.
Summary so far:
Corgatha's group has fallen apart and is now defunct. Cogidubnus was unable to continue DMing amid RL problems, so Basilisk has taken up his session. Techmaster-glitch is still DMing another game, and may have spots open for one or two more people. If someone is willing to be a DM, they can start their own group.
Basilisk's Players:
1: Keaton the Black Jackal
2: Aisha DeCabre
3: llearch
4: SquirrelWizard
5: Lucheek
6: The1Kobra
Techmaster-Glitch's Players
1: E-Voyager
2: Proliator Bradypodidae
3: James Starrunner
4: Ghostwish
5: Casafi
6: Shadrok
Instructions for all my players, and to anyone else who might be interested:
I have successfully set up my own chat channel on llearch's chat server. If you do not have a chat client (like me), it can be accessed via this link (http://llearch.net/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgi) (or simply find llearch's forum signature and click on the link there). Simply replace "lazy sod" with a name I will recognize, and login. You will be dropped into the comicfrenzy channel. To get to mine, simply type /join TechD&D , and you will enter my channel. Alternatively, you can shortcut to my channel by replacing the "#comicfrenzy" with "#TechD&D" at the login screen (be sure to leave the #).
This channel is where all our D&D sessions will be held, so it is important that confirm you can reach the channel. In addition to the actual sessions, I will be in this channel as often as I can to answer any D&D-related questions, or assist with anything I can. If I am not there, try again later, or leave me a PM here on the forums.
In addition, my channel is also open to anyone else who wishes to use it for d&d purposes, or to just gather together before a session.
RESOURCES:
Here is a list of resources to use for the games, avaliable for newcomers or a place to re-find them if lost;
MapTool (http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=downloads#MapTool)
-This is the primary vessel most of us are using for running a game session. It is a free, open-source tabletop imitator program. It has a graphic interface with tokens, a built-in chat and diceroller, and many other features. It is java-based, so it will run on any OS. It comes in a .zip folder (.dmg file for Mac users), and does not install--the whole program is contained in the folder itself (and thus can even be run off of removable storage, likle a flash drive). There are also several other Tool programs for additional functionality.
-MapTool Tutorials (http://www.rptoolstutorials.net/)
--A number of video tutorials for using MapTool. Very useful.
Character Sheets (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/charactersheets)
-Downloadable 3.5e character sheets from the WotC website in PDF form. Usually meant for printing, but if used in conjunction with...
-PDFescape (http://www.pdfescape.com/)
--...you can enter form fields and text to fill out a character sheet electronically.
World Clock Meeting Planner (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html)
-Tells what time where on a specific date, useful for figuring out when people have avaliable time in relation to each other.
You already know that I'm in, Cog... and if you feel like having a rousing debate over who's campaign we use... well *shrugs* i'm good either way... Though as player, beware ze sneaky Rogue
If Bas told you, then I do want in on this after I found out about it :3
And if I were to DM (and yes, I do have a little experience), then it would definitely be an Eberron campaign :D However, I won't actually pursue that position at the moment for several reasons, but mostly because I want to be a player again.
oooohhhhh... D&D....
Did I ever tell you about my crazy... er... unhinged... um... delightfully disturbed... uh... completely off his rocker priest of the god of Zeon? Its where I got my screen name...
I'd certainly be up for playing D&D, I've been playing it for a while, actually. I do have DMing experience too.
Though, at the moment, I'm probably a bit too busy to handle DMing right now, though I could still play.
can we play as buff wizards
Oh, another quick note is that Keaton The Black Jackal (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=833) has claimed a spot in this game. She's claiming a spellcaster role upon her return from her recent blargh...
Aisha DeCabre (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=171) also mentioned interest before it being posted here.
That being said, i don't know how many Cog can accommodate, but Aish, Keaty, Cog and myself have been passing the idea around for a little bit... just felt that it's important to have that somewhat announced here.
Already spoke to Bas a while ago, but just to make it official, I'm in. :B Dibs on Ranger, of course. I'll have to do a bit of research as well, my experience with a pen-and-paper RPG so far is a session on Exhalted. :rolleyes
So, wait. Is this going to be an online RP?
This is going to cap at five six players, because honestly anything more is a logistics nightmare.
What we -can- do is this - if more people want to play than can fit in one campaign, then two campaigns can be created separately.
1: Basilisk
2: Aisha
3: Tech
4: The 1Kobra
5: Keaton the Black Jackal
6: SquirrelWizard
Tipod: You can play whatever you like, really - however, you didn't say you wanted to play, necessarily, so I didn't count you here.

Can we be of ANY D&D class?
People are really fast, and six people in a D&D campaign is generally very much sufficient. :B - so I apologize, but more than six is generally hard to work with. I would prefer that with online stuff being what it is, that there not be more than six.
If someone were to drop out, you could, however, yes.
Kay, then.
Well, Cog can run 1 campaign, and someone else could run another, depending on how people want to do logistics *shrugs*
I'd like to express belated interest.
Nuts.
I'd also like to express interest, either as a player or as a DM
Well, if we have a lot of interested players, we could run the same campaign on two ends, kind of an 'A' group and a 'B' group, though you'd likely want to keep them in separate threads to avoid possible metagaming.
That said, with allowed classes, I'd stick with the core ones. Prestiege classes are a bit harder, but I'd almost certainly rule out any splat-book classes. That's just my take though, I could come back with a list if requested.
Sooooo, Core ones as in, Warrior, Mage, Fighter, classes like that?

Um... there are 11 base classes in the core player's handbook for 3.0/.5 D&D, and only one of them is called "Fighter". In fact, technically speaking, "Warrior" is an NPC class.

3.5, yeah. 3.0 books are allowed so long as they good looked at first, but most stuff can be transferred without too much trouble.
Also, if it's alright, could the people that I listed above please give me their IM information, if I don't already have it? I have some things that I need to send them, like the program I think we'll be using for the games and suchlike. Built in diceroller and suchlike.
When I spoke with Basilisk about it yesterday, he indicated we would be playing 3.5.
The PC classes of 3.5 are
Barbarian
Ranger
Fighter
Paladin
Monk
Rogue
Bard
Wizard
Sorcerer
Druid
Cleric.
Core base classes:
Barbarian
Bard
Cleric
Druid
Fighter
Monk
Paladin
Ranger
Rogue
Sorcerer
Wizard
The above are the commonly accepted 'core' classes. There are a few others, but I'd be kind of leery about adding more, lest they be overpowered. (Duskblades come to mind, those are waaaay out of balance).
Prestige Classes:
Assassin
Blackguard
Eldritch Knight
Arcane Trickster
Mystic Theurge
Dragon Disciple
Dwarven Defender
Arcane Archer
Weapon Master
Shadowdancer
Duelist
Prestiege classes are a bit trickier. Ultimately, it's the DM's decision.
Edit: Blargh, Corg beat me to it.

IM information...Instant Messenger? I don't think I have anything like that...are there any browser-based places we could do this, like llearch's chat?
how are we handling stats? and what is the starting level?
Also, will you have any custom talents/skills?
edit: I'm thinking I want to play a wizzie but I'm still up in the air about it.
Bas mentioned rolling, although I didn't catch what system. Pick three of 4d6 is the most common in my experience though.
eh... okay that works i guess...
I'm not entirely fond of rolling stats. I mean 18s in ever stat is stupid and bland, but if you are like me, your luck with dice is legendary....

Squirrel, do you have an IM? If not, that's fine - but I'll send you a PM with other information.
Also, Tech, I'll PM you.
As far as it goes, the first group is full as of right now. If people want to start a second group, this is good, but I would really rather not DM two at one time. :B

edit2: okay cool, thanks.
I'd offer to DM a second group, if anyone's interested. I've got a few ideas of my own, and a fairly developed world (admittedly created for a different system, but I should be able to convert it)
Alternatively, if Cog wants to do so, we could maybe do a double party single world type thing, where the two groups are on the same "game map" but probably start seperately and might not even interact for a while.
EDIT Co-Dming, as it were.
If anymore positions are opened up due to Corgatha DMing or Co-DMing, I'll join.

For future reference, specific questions you have about the game should be directed at your current DM.
I too express serious interest in joining if there're any kind of slots available (woulda posted again earlier but had class), I'll just need a minute to ask my DnD friend to help me apply stats and skills and dice and other nerdery. Should I PM Corg my IM info?
Edit: VV Sent. Hopefully this should go all smooth-like.
Please do so.
i have interest but may need help to build my character.
Hmmm....I've never been able to sit though an entire game of D&D, then again, I've never had the time to sit through an entire game of D&D. I may have interest in this, but I have to ask one question first.
If I get in on this will I be put with a DM that is willing to let his PC's die without a second thought despite any possible repercussions to the campaign or will I be put with a DM who will go to great lengths to make sure all of his PC's live and make it through the campaign?
If it's the second one, I'd like to put my name in for playing the rouge who makes the DM's life a living hell by constantly getting into situations, despite the DM's best efforts, that would normally end with the character dieing >:]....you know, the cannon fodder character. I could help you with this, if you like.
As for dying:
From my DMing experience, I'd say it really depends on 'how' the characters die.
If, for example, a monster gets a 20 20 crit hit roll with a greataxe and does 27 damage against a first level character, that's mostly just bad luck, and I'm likely to be lenient. However, if they do something on the 2^64th magnitude of stupidity, like attacking a noble in front of a legion of armed guards and there are no escape routes, then I'd likely just let them die horribly.
Ultimately it's the DM's call though.

With my personal DM'ing style, if you do something stupid, you will generally reap the consequences. If you're playing a rogue, you've probably got an awesome enough reflex save to not die. But that doesn't mean that, you know, you won't become a wanted criminal, or get cursed with vampirism or something.

Eh, if I did get into this I'd probably only do something like that for the situational humor factor. Though, if I do actually go ahead and get into this, I have a feeling I'm going to have a bit to learn....last time I looked at D&D anything was something like 15 years ago.
EDIT: Actually, I think I'm going pull my interest out of this due to that fact that my limited/nonexistent knowledge of recent D&D may pose a large problem.

Well, to be honest, I think that everyone who wants to play D&D here needs, at the very least, the Player's Handbook (3.5 edition). I don't think anyone is familiar enough with the game to go without it.
So, unless Cog thinks otherwise, I think there should be a quick headcount. Everyone here who has expressed interest should say whether they Do or Do Not have the 3.5 (or 3.0) Player's Handbook. Anyone who Does Not will need to acquire one soon, I really don't see how anyone can play the game without it.
I Do have a 3.0 and a 3.5 Player's Handbook.
I've got a bunch of books on pdf, but my problem is... I'm not interweb savvy enough to know how to get them up for downloads.
Story Time.
During one epic (read that as awesome, not level 20+) campaigns, I was playing a priest who worshiped the god of Zeon. Zeon was a god who had no real alignment and was considered by the general populace as nucking futs. Now, some of our teammates decided to do some stupid stuff like outpace the group as they traveled. The DM was trying to get us from point A to point B with as little fuss as possible considering for the past few sessions we had been mired in the area too long for his liking. He got tired with one of the characters and threw a lightning bolt at him. The guy made his reflex save and kept on going. From that point on, if you were tempting fate (and by tempting we mean being uncharacteristically stupid.) you'd get a lightning bolt warning you of it.
Well... Later on, I was in the town, and probably doing something I shouldn't be, as the dm had a lightning bolt shoot through a window, circle around my character, and then exit out another window. In a moment of theatrical foresight, I yelled, "BEHOLD THE POWER OF ZEON!"
I converted half of the town in one night...
Squirrel: I am. Interweb savvy, I mean.
I have the Players Handbook, v3.5. Along with a few others. If anyone is stuck, drop me a line...
I just got the message from Corgatha about the campaign details.
Wish it weren't so, but I'm going to have to bow out as a player. I'm sorry, Corgatha and Cogidubnus :(
For what it's worth, my slot is now up for grabs, so if there's anyone who still wants in, the can jump in, I think. And I suppose I can stay on as a sort of "D&D advisor/helper" kinda guy, as I do have experience with both playing and DMing.
oh hay, people play D&D here too? Awesome!
I'll join in, though now i have to make a separate character sheet now. D :

I don't have the player's handbook, but, hey, the internet's an information highway. Anyway, Corgatha, you want me to give you my MSN?
Please do so when available. Alternatively, my MSN is posted on my member profile, so you can add me.
D&D by the combined insanity of this forum? Wonderful! I will not be participating for now, but if anybody unfamiliar with the system has questions I could field some of them. Off the top of my head I haven't seen anybody link http://www.d20srd.org/ (http://www.d20srd.org/), which gives you at least the bare basics of 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons.
Other than that, I shall be watching... Oh yes, I shall be watching.... :mwaha
Hello again, everyone. I talked to Cog, and taking note of the fact that there are more players than even Cog and Corg can handle together, leaving some out to dry, I'm offering to be yet another DM to accomodate everyone.
I have personal DMing experience, so there shouldn't be much worry about that. However, a few things to take note; my campaign will not be linked to Cog and Corg's. It will, in fact, be the Eberron setting (still 3.5e). So, if anyone's interested, drop a line here, and we can start figuring this out.
EDIT: after a little conferring, it does seem that E_voyager, Arryo Milori, and Dekari are the only ones not in a group right now.
If you three still want to play, don't mind me as the DM, and don't mind the Eberron setting, I can take you three. Please respond to this when you can, whether you do or don't want to go with me.
I'll go ahead and post this here - everyone in my group, we're getting pretty close to being done here. Anyone who doesn't have that program that I was handing out earlier, please give me a PM - likewise, anyone who doesn't have Ventrilo needs to download it.

That's going to be... tricky. They don't have a version of that for linux - at least, not the client side.

I was going to try and figure something out. The Time Zone issue should make things interesting, if nothing else. :B - What's D&D when someone isn't tired out their mind, though?
Probably a weekend, as that's about when I expect most will be able to play.
My apologies, my intestines have entered into full revolt, and I'm not going to really be online until things subside.
Hoping to be back in a day or two,

Note to all my prospective players, and to anyone else who might be interested:
I have successfully set up my own chat channel on llearch's chat server. If you do not have a chat client (like me), it can be accessed via this link (http://llearch.net/cgi-bin/cgiirc/irc.cgi) (or simply find llearch's forum signature and click on the link there). I will be in this channel as often as I can. If I am not there, try again later.
And on another note, I believe we should all take a moment and observe a tribute to the creator of Dungeons and Dragons, Gary Gygax. I think this will be a refreshing way to start everyone off with all the D&D sessions, as the veterans will well appreciate the tribute, and the newbies will see what the lives of us veterans is like, and perhaps even learn the greatest lesson for the D&D player:
"Are you sure you want to do that?"
A Tribute to Gary Gygax. (http://eeknight.livejournal.com/334981.html)
just wondering how are we gonna coordinate this? separate sight? endless screaming on the forums?
What do you mean by coordinate, and who are you talking about?
(and you did read the tribute, right? ;) )
coordinate as in when we're available, what times we should be getting on, ect...
Well, you should be doing that with your DM, as far as I know.
Note that the channel name is not case sensitive - so /join #techd&d will work just as well as /join #tEcHd&D...
If everyone who I'm DM'ing could PM me with times that would work for them, I'd be much obliged.
Just a heads up that techmaster-glitch has been doing a little recruiting and I am considering joining his party. I have no nerd-cred, zero, nada, zilch. The only thing I know of DnD is what I saw/heard on JAVGW. This will be the first time I have even looked in a Player's Handbook. So if I do decide to join tech's game, dust off all the old "noob" remarks and warm them up! Hopefully, if I do play, the worst that will happen is I will provide epic comic foil.
...and whats with tech's insistence I wear a "red shirt?"
its merely a mark of honor.
As the shirt is the color of blood, all new players wear it as a mark of their newblood status.

Alright - looking at my schedule, and the general vibe of things so far, I'd like to start sometime on Friday - preferably early, so that the Box isn't staying up all night, which is to say around noonish, if all can make it.
be that noonish eastern time?

I'm central here, so that'd be about 1:00 eastern, methinks.
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?day=5&month=2&year=2010&p1=64&p2=0&p3=179&p4=137
Says that 1200 CST is 1300 in NY and 1000 in LA, and 1800 in London.
I'm usually in transit around that time - I don't leave work until about half five on a Friday, so won't be home until 6:30 or 7. So you can probably ease that back a bit later, if you want.
Or I can leave early. That's also an option. ;-]
Unless you very much want to, we can start later. If I'm reading these clocks right, that should be about 2PM, then. Which works out well.
I'm interested in playing under Techmaster's supireority! (is NOOB at D&D but will try and learn rules and stuffs)
Just putting a post here reminding my group that we're going to be playing today, at around 1:00 central or so. If you can make it, please do!
What the heck; sign me on, Tech... newbies ahoy!
Question for Cog: any ideas when we're going to shoot for our next session?
Dang... I wish I had time for this.

This weekend sometime, I imagine. Saturday, perhaps?
Ah...
I have flights out on Saturday, I think. So I'm likely not going to be around then. :-/

Well, we can do it earlier, if that works for you. Like I've said before, when everyone tells me when they can do it, I can plan for what time it's going to be.
We'll try for weekly, but that isn't always possible. If people will send me a PM of when is a good time, I'll do my best to make sure that the most people can make it.
I'm good for friday again.
I have, alas, most unfortunate news.
It appears that my main computer has kicked the bucket. I suspect that the northside chip has melted, and that I might have also possibly done something to the motherboard when investigating.
This isn't to say that we can't still have the session, but this is going to make things a bit harder, and I do apologize.
The computer I'm using now is a 2001-thereabouts laptop, and I'm not sure it even has the power to use fantasygrounds. I've also lost all my books, and I'll have to see what I can do about getting them back.
In any case, if Friday is looking good for everyone, we can shoot for then. Around 1:00 again looks to be a good time.
It was a trifle early for me (as usual), but I've been online since 8pm my time, and no sign of Cog. Everyone but, mind...
any news as to whether we are going to do our DnD thing this friday or later on?
I don't think I'm going to be able to host a game today. However, I will be available tomorrow, if people will be alright with that.
Just noting here, I'm going to try to get our group together early afternoon (say, 2 o'clock, EST) on Saturday, if that's ok with everyone in my group. I'll be sending the specifics by PM later this evening.
If that's a problem, either contact me or just shout it here.
Works for me, Cog... just lemme know what time so i can shuffle responsibilities around
I imagine that sometime around noon should be fine.
... so, same sort of timeframe as usual, just shifted a day over?
I can do that. I think. Maybe. Sunday would be a definite problem, but I can do Saturday...
lulz I'm getting involved in the Dorkery too. I just had no idea we had a forum thread.
Yeah, I'll be available then. I finally got my act together.
I wont be available till later on for tomarrow, my grandmother is having a birthday.

Hooray! Keaton is a dork!
Wait. I think I was supposed to celebrate something else there.
*intense thought* ಠ_ಠ
Well, if you were in my group, you'll know the meeting fizzled. The rest of the weekend isn't good for me, so I'm hoping for next weekend sometime, either Saturday or sunday (or both, but I'm not to hopeful) at 3ish or so. If this is or is not convienent, please send me a message.
Sorry for the double post here.
My group (Aisha, Techcubi, Tipod, Boog, Tezkat), just reconfirming that the session, assuming no screwups, is going to start at around 3 pm, Eastern standard time. I've managed to yoink in someone from outside the forum, and she's likely playing an elven druid.
Best wishes people.
Don't forget to send me the connect information too, if you'll still have me as an observer :3
Another fizzle today? Or was it actually supposed to be tomorrow? Sundays usually aren't a good time for me... :<
:cry On the recommendation of some of the others, I picked Sunday. (And spent today outside and doing chess stuff.) Sorry Tez, I'll keep that in mind for the future, try to keep things nailed to Saturday if at all possible.
Yeah...not sure why you guys picked Sunday. Though I know I don't actually matter, I wouldn't be able to watch on a sunday as I'll be watchin Balade's Webcast instead...
And yeah. When you post a notice that a session's going to happen, it would probably be best if you actually state the day, as one would think that's a little more important than the time...
The thing is, what hour on Sunday are we doing it since I gotta do laundry tomorrow and I'm usually done around 4 PM. I could try to get it done before then, but it'd help to know the timeframe I'm looking at.
Sunday, 3 Eastern Standard was what I had initially penned in, but I'll do a quick poll, see if later works.
Double post, but due to the objections of Tezkat and Tipod, We're going to start things up at 4:30 EST today, if we can get anyone, although I hope to have at least 4 people. I'll be on Maptools with "Stonefish server" again, a password of "Blah" starting at 4pm, EST, although I won't have everything up and running at that time.
I'll also be on Skype.
Best wishes to everyone, and good luck.
EDIT. It fizzled. I'm pissed, problems here. Will update more coherently later.
Triple post....... Huzzah......
Anyway, if you've been following my fumbling along, you'll note that in over a month of trying, I've failed to even convene a single group for a DnD game. Technical problems getting even simple chat interfaces have proven almost insurmountable, and two of my players still have not given legal character sheets.
I'm sorry, I should have been more on top of things, but this simply isn't working. Maybe some time in the future, or under different conditions, but right now, the campaign is stillborn, and yanking around my players' hopes that something will actually happen is irresponsible.
To Tezkat and Techmaster, I'd like to thank you for your efforts to help me along in the ways of technical proficiency. That I'm denser than titanium does not in any way reflect poorly on either of your skills or your efforts.
Disgusted at myself,
Corgatha Taldorthar.
If you actually come around to llearch's chatroom sometime, I'm sure Tez and I can get this thing nailed down...
And heck, if we even can't figure out how to make your comp host the game, there's the option where Tez could "host" the game himself, but give you the GM powers. This way, it's your computer connecting to his, instead of the other way around (which seems to be the problem...)
welp

Indeed. We'll give you a bye, this time. ;-]
(seriously, you're counted as a GM, so you're allowed. In this thread, anyway.)
(As this is an "RP" thread, it is okay to revive, right?)
Alright, I'm not entirely sure what happened here. It seems that every group has fallen silent for various reason. This revival is a call-out to anyone who's still interested in playing/DMing. I've done some checking, and my players Keklily and E_Voyager are still in, haven't gotten to Brady yet, and I -just- got a message from James Starrunner, as I tried to recruit him initially.
So! Anyone still up for this? The groundwork is laid, everyone just needs to synchronize...
I apologize for not posting this sooner, but it slipped my mind.
My mom is in the hospital right now, and right now it has the potential to be very serious and long-term. I cannot in good faith continue to try and DM one of these games, when I don't know when I will be able to actually host one.
I think Bask expressed interest in hosting one group. Unfortunately, I will not be able to continue hosting mine. My deepest apologies.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom, I hope everything works out alright.

Oh man, that's terrible. I knew your group had fallen silent but didn't know why... I do hope things don't end up too bad.
Although...there is the issue of maintaing the first post of the thread now, for indexing and organization (if you aren't up for maintaining that, either). This is also a call out to any mods reading this. Should a new thread be made by one of us, can the mods somehow suffle the thread to make one of us have the first post, or can a mod modify the post as needed? I'm hoping for the second option, though I suppose I can take the first...though I doubt the third one will work.
Cog: if you want me to take over where you left off, great, otherwise i'll go work up a campaign from scratch and get our party back together
:hug
Wish you the best, man, and hope everything works out.
Oh, Cog... :dface
:tighthug :tighthug :tighthug
Take care, and return whenever you're ready. Don't worry about the game, please. I hope everything turns out alright.

What she said. In spades.
And diamonds.
I may be joining you guys. I need a break before I well... break.
I appreciate it, guys.
Bask, if you want to take over the group, do whatever you like in that regard.
alrighty Cog *goes to dust off a campaign note-book*
right-o then gang... if you're still interested in playing let me know if i haven't already contacted you, and i'll see about getting this going up again...
What about the thread first post? How will that be maintained? (I proposed several ideas on the last page, if anyone missed it...)
Ask nicely, and a mod will edit it for you. More or less.

Meh. I was hoping not to have to rely on that, but oh well...
And, now that i've got everything i need setup, i've confirmed this Friday is okay with at least half of the original party...
All of you in Cog's party who were there the other day should have everything already setup, if any of you don't wish to play, let me know, and you're more than welcome to hand your slot off to someone else... 6 player slots is what i'll have opened.
anyways, if you've gotten a new computer or cleaned out your programs you didn't think you'd use,

If you need help with anything, feel free to contact me either by PM, if you catch me on the IRC, or in MSN or AIM
aww, don't use teamspeak...I won't be able to actually -watch- you guys, then :(
Besides, the maptool chat has a built-in diceroller...
voice chat makes things considerably easier... i might use Skype instead, as Aish seems to be having problems with teamspeak :/
Apologies for the double post, but figured it'd be good to announce to all the players who i shall be DMing for, This upcoming Friday, April 2nd, at 3PM EST i'm hoping to get our session going. If anyone needs help with either of the programs we're looking at using, please, let me know ASAP...
also, if you'd like to redo your character, or start a new one, just let me know. I'll be happy to work with you to have a fun and entertaining time on this campaign.
Guess I could throw my dice in with this thread. Count me interested. ^_^
You know, I think my group may have an opening...can you get online right now? Go to the first post in this thread and follow the instructions under my name.
General Reminder to all my players;
We will be getting together tomorrow, Saturday. There is no hard set time to arrive, just come when you can and stay for as long as you can. We will not be running a true session, but this is one gathering that would be the worst to miss, because we will be spending most of the time filling out character sheets. In all my experience, this is actually the longest and most intensive part of the game.
So, hope to see you around!
(sorry for triplepost, need the bump)
Evoyager! Please check your messages!
triplepost? What triplepost? *looks blindly around*
In case anyone has not yet noticed, the first post of this thread has been updated; the group lists are now accurate, and there are links to various resources we are using to aid the games. More resources may be added as we find them/on request.
Updates noted.
Notice to all my players;
Our testrun session did go pretty well. However, at least one person has voiced that they would not mind some more practice before getting into the real game. In addition, I have a few variant rules I'd like to try if I get the chance, and see you you all like them.
So, please post here with your response to this question; Would you be okay with continuing with this "non-canon testrun sidequest" thing to get more familiarity with the game and to try out variant rules, or would you rather just get on with the real game?
Yes; last Saturday's test run was my first time (thanks everyone for being gentle) playing D&D and I am still not comfortable with all the rules and game play. Besides, I still need to flesh out Horl's personality a bit. To the more experienced players; I do appreciate and take criticisms and suggestions well, and appreciate advise. ;-]
so... D&D players in my game, i'm going to be starting the actual campaign this Saturday at around 3PM EST, i can't do it friday due to a family function i'll be attending most of the day... hopefully this works for all of you, and if not, just let me know and i'll try and adjust accordingly
at 3pm Easter i'll still be making my way home form work i'm sorry to say i'll probably need an extra half hour to get in and log in saterday
I'd love to get the game rolling, but if others need more time, I'm fine with that.
Standard reminder to my players; we are getting together again this Saturday (as we were unable to play last week)
Be there, or I'll sneak under your bed and whisper twinkle twinkle!
Announcement: It has come to my attention that E_Voyager is going to be unavailable
Saturday (RL issues), which means there is likely not going to be a session. Sorry, everyone :mowsad
RIOT! Or cookies. Cookies are good too.
Saturday Iz Gud
Okay, attempting to check ahead of time...
Ghost, E, and Brady, are all three of you sure you'll be able to make it to a session this saturday?

All indications point to yes.
i agree with pg. it looks good on my end as well
Yar!
as of today my work hours have changed. i will be working Friday midnight - 8am Saturday and Saturday midnight to 8am as well
Yar. :mowsad
yeeg, that looks like awkward hours...do you think you can still make it to the session, and if so, what times? (and what is your timezone?)
EDIT: alright, talked to E. Everything is still okay, he can still make it to sessions, he'll actually be a few hours earlier which may work even better than before. His new min/max time is 2pm-10pm Central, 12pm-8pm Pacific, as seen by this. (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?month=5&day=20&year=2010&p1=0&p2=217&p3=64&p4=-1) Insert your own timezone (if you aren't on either of the above) to figure out when that is.
In short; the session is still on! (hopefully...)
my supervisor just fricking called me less then an hour after i get to sleep to change my shift to 1pm - 9pm (less then 3 hours from now with traffic being an hour away) meaning i can't come to the session today.
Ah, man...
Well, I really don't want to have the first session of the real game with a missing player, but now that Casafi's pretty much ready, today is not a total loss; we can just continue with test sessions. In fact, this might be good, as Casa hasn't had one yet.
So, the session is still on, same time today, everyone else.
A bit of bad news...
yet again, we are going to have a missing player, which means we yet again cannot start the real game. Trust me, I'm as frustrated as anyone else. If anyone -wants- to play another random non-cannon session, I'll try to have something scraped together...
Perhaps we can change the date of the game?
If we can get everyone to agree to a date, sure!
Don't know if there's going to be a session tomorrow....is Casafi going to be around, Ghostwish?
I'll ask her now.
Edit: She says she should be back in time. I asked her to keep us posted.
Alright, I'll make sure the game start is ready for tomorrow if she does come back in time. If not...well, I'll figure that out if we get there.
Sounds like a plan.
i should be woke by five(3 gm time) so don't worry i seem a little late.
*sigh* Now ghostwish is telling me Casafi likely won't make it....well, eveyone try to pop in at least once. If Casafi does show, then we're game on. If not, then you can go off to whatever (or I can cobble together something random).
*woot* to my players, we finally got the real campaign started! Next session this saturday, usual time!
And now that we've finally got the campaign started with all four people at once, we can also stand to miss a player every now and then. If everyone's okay with it, we'll continue a normal session if one person is a no-show (but not the same person twice in a row). To help ease the missing of the session, the chatlogs for the sessions will be recorded and handed out to whoever doesn't make it, so the only thing one misses is interaction.
Everyone alright with that?
Yar!
roger that, out.
chat logs sound good to me. but i was also reading the log when i got in this morning around 11 hours ago and it said you wanted to auto 14 if i had to depart suddenly as i did when they changed my shift. that okay just try to keep in mind 14's not the sharpest tool in the shed but he's not the dullest either. he'll do what he can to stay alive as long as it doesn't mean abandoning his friends.
Ah yeah, I was trying to ask you that before you left, but I guess I never caught you. That's actually how it will happen if anyone else is missing; I'll auto their character in the meantime. The only reason I didn't do that and we didn't continue the session last night was because I wasn't quick enough to get to you, and it would have been mean to do it without you knowing.
One more announcement:
Brady reminded me of the thought of moving the date of the games, or maybe even adding on another game in the week. For the moment, sessions are still going on saturday at usual times, but if we can come up with anything else here, we'll consider that.
So, what I want everyone to do this this; post here the hours you have free in your own timezone on each day of the week, for your typical schedule (work/school considerations), if any. I'd like them in this example format:
[timezone]
Monday: 2:00PM-6:00PM
Tuesday: 5:00PM-9:30PM
and so forth.
Be sure to state what your timezone is, as well as any special condistions, like "if I take time on Wednesday, then I won't be available on Friday", or anything like that. And a notifier ahead of time; within a week or two I will have the first half (and maybe a little more) of every day monday through thursday filled up. In my timezone, I'd estimate to not be available until 2:00PM on average (maybe later, maybe earlier). Fridays and Saturdays -should- still be available, and I might even consider cutting out Balade's webcast on sundays if everyone's got time then...
Once I've got everyone's times for their timezones, I'll plug it all into the world clock and see if anything matches.
And ghostwish; remind casafi/andromeda to check this thread ;)
Allright, here's the times I am not available, as it's much simpler that way.
Tuesday, 1PM-5PM
Thursday, 1PM onward
Sunday, 6PM onward
Because of the family emergency last week, I am no longer available at nights. Starting next week I'll be working the closing shift, really short, 6-10pm EST. But that means I'm pretty much available all day long starting at 8am! Sundays are open from 8am to 6:30pm EST. All day Saturday. Day time may vary due to any doctor's appointments
This will change mid August when school starts.
Last weekend of July I will be out of town at a Charity Airsoft Event, Operation Eagle.
I'm a lazy sod with no life, so I am good for any day, any time.
edit: Oh, and hi Andromeda; welcome to the forum!
i work Tuesdays 4 to midnight so i'm not available then but i could swing either Monday or Wednesday as and extra day
Usual reminder, session tomorrow! If you're not there, the chatlog will be saved and sent upon request.
(by the way, did I actually send you last week's chatlog, E? I can't remember... )
HI-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO *bang!*
you sent it i can't remember reading it but anyway i got of work late just got home about half an hour ago so i might sleep it a little. try to be there as soon as i get up
don't worry, we probably won't start for at least four hours (it's 8:30 where I am, and we never seem to start before 12 )
techmaster-glitch and fellow comrades:
I'm not sure why, but for some reason family and friend activities are spiking to most unusual heights this weekend. With talks of cookouts, parades, and even fireworks. Most odd. The point is it seems I will not be available tomorrow (Saturday 3 July 2010) for our session of DnD. My apologies. If the team can still gather in my absence, I am sure Tech can drag Horl along with the rest of the adventurers. Should my situation change, I will try to join you. Have fun, and be safe, whatever your plans are for this weekend.
Advance announcement to my players;
It is -possible-, but not a surefire thing yet, that there will again be no session this week. I've been kept busy with school and distracted by other things, and haven't been able to work on a map for the next area/encounters. I'm going to do my best to pull something together in time, but my schedule for the next few days doesn't look good. Keep checking here for status updates and a final confirmation if there will or will not be a session.
Many apologies!
Update of above announcement;
Here's the deal; I've got something together that I will continue working on in the morning that could suffice for a session. However, depending on how this next section of the game goes, you will go down one of two branching story paths, which I haven't the time to work on yet. The session itself might be short, as soon as the next area is resolved, the session will be concluded as I have not yet drawn up either of the next two branches after that. It will also be a no-combat session, it will likely be just roleplaying (not necessarily a bad thing, but that's what this update is for). In addition to this, Brady has informed me he will not be present tomorrow, though he can try to make it next week (though that's not certain), but he will be back for sure the week after that.
So, it's up to you; E, Andromeda, Ghostwish. We can either do this session tomorrow, or next week.
If we do it tomorrow, Brady will not be around, and the session will likely be concluded early for lack of the next area. Based on how the next area is resolved, I will begin working on the next story branch during the week for the next few sessions. However, if Brady is unable to make it next week, there will not be a session, as I'm not willing to be missing a same person two sessions in a row.
If we do it next week, there is the possibility Brady might be able to attend, and the session also might not have to be concluded early, if I've got both story branches worked out in time. But, we've already missed one week of a session, and I don't know if anyone wants to miss another.
Those are your options; Go ahead with the game tomorrow, or delay another week. Post your response here before what would be the gametime tomorrow (or just catch me on the chat in the morning). As there are three of you, the decision will be determined by best 2 out of 3, or unanimous (whatever the case may be).
*sighs* I hope this doesn't become a trend.
i was long gone to work by the time you posted. and as brady won't be there lets call the session off and i'll grab a few more hours of sleep. unless by tomorrow you mean Sunday. any way i go rest now
Alrighty. For this week (tomorrow, Saturday), Casafi has informed me she is unable to attend. If Brady can show up tomorrow, then we should be okay for a game. If Brady is also unable to attend, there will be no game this week.
thank you keep us posted and i'll check before work tonight and when i get in ins 20 hours to be sure.
Brrraaaiiinnnnssss..
I mean, cool!
Nnnnrrr..
If you see this, E, we are playing today.
Announcement to all my players;
Even though I've got the next adventure to plan out and schoolwork to do this week, there's something important that I'll need to work with everyone on before this Saturday; leveling up. Now, I went over the calculations of the EXP gain from last session that hasn't been recorded yet, and even tossing in some story EXP, it's not quite enough to really get everyone to the next level, so -just this once-, I'm going to DM-bump eveyone up enough to get to level 4 anyway, before the next adventure starts.
To help speed things along so we don't have to spend more time than necessary on this, I'll be doing a few things on everyone's character sheets automatically; saves and BaB increases, automatic class features, spells per day, etc. Anything that doesn't actually require input from you will be done for you ahead of time, the only things left will be the things you must actually choose for your character; spells known, feats, variable features, and the ever-so-lovely first increase to a base ability score ;)
Try catching me after 5:30 or later my time (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meetingtime.html?month=7&day=20&year=2010&p1=0&p2=217&p3=-1&p4=-1), as that's when I will usually be home and hopefully have my homework already done. We'll get through upping everyone's characters, hopefully in enough time for this week's session. Seeya around!
email me my copy and i'll update my locals.
Update:
Alright, I fixed up everyone's sheets and updated everyone halfway to level 4, only filling in and editing things that happen automatically like I said (saves, automatic class abilities, etc). Everything else is left unupdated, so you still gotta catch me so we can fix those up. On another note, I reorgianized and consolidated everyone's notes on txt files (backstory, hp per level rolls, EXP, and spells known if applicable), to follow an easy standard format for tracking this misc information. Both of these files, the pdf sheet and txt notes, are up on the gmail account in your own drafts. Retrieve them from there.
I believe I finished my sheet. Hope I did anyway.
Tomorrow night I have an anime club meeting and will be leaving at 6:30pm est. to head on over to BO's house. He's hosting for a change! Too bad he doesn't live in town.
Remember, next Saturday I won't be hear because I will be out of town doing that AirSoft/Roleplaying event for charity.
To my group;
Alrighty, as you guys know, we were not able to have a session last saturday because Casa wasn't around. While I haven't heard confirmation yet, she should be returning this week, and if she does, then we will indeed be having a game this saturday.
So, unless I announce otheriwse, there should be a game this saturday. Let's see what happens...
As far as I know, I'll be here this Saturday for game.
Huzzah!
At least you guys don't tick me off, lol.
We didn't? Damnit!
Only you tick me off, Ghostwish. And since it's not your game, then no one in this game has.
Huh? Sorry, I was too busy staring at your avatar. Did you say something?
*runs away cackling*
Typical you.
50/50 chance that i'll be there
I. AM. THERE.
Hi, I'm new, and I'd like to join a game or get into a new one. Anyone else want to play/interested in dm-ing a game?
Well hey there! I'm running an eberron game currently, and I know Tech is too. I guess the real question is what times would you be available? My game runs Thursday evenings, and Tech's runs on Saturday. Which one would be better for you?
Uh...Well, thursdays I get out of work 6:00 pm ish, Central. Saturdays are typically free, barring unknown circumstances. So both could work, depending on when Thurs would be.
Oh, mine kicks off at 7:30, central. I don't think Tech's has a set time, it's pretty much when everyone shows up. Heck, if you want, you could shoot for both games?
I...uh...well, cool. But I would need to roll up a new character...Completely new to this, aside from hear-say.
Well, scratch one, Tech's game is full.
Do you, by any chance, have any messengers? Could you send one to me in a private chat, and I'll chat to you tomorrow?
so are you saying your game is still open ghost?
Has been! I don't recall closing it, really.
However, there is only one slot left. Currently have a party of five, trying to max out at 6.
chuckles. this is D&D not WoW. we don't have 30 character parties here. something like that?
Well, every player slows down combat a bit, and makes it a bit harder on the DM ya see. ;)
trust me i understand. i've never DM'd a game but i understand. mostly from the point of views of accounting for variables
Probably should have taken care of this earlier, but I only just thought of it now.
Ghostwish informed me a bit ago he will not be present for tomorrow's session. Now, we could go anyway; the party would just be missing the big warforged lug's personality for a session. But if the rest of you want, we can postpone the session. Either way works, all that matters is what works best for the rest of you.
So, E, Proliator, and Andromeda; want to game tomorrow or not? Please have responses in at least by the time of when the session would normally start tomorrow...
it all depends on if my relief shows up to relive me on time tomorrow. in about 11 hours from now.
Okay, new update;
I'm just not ready, guys. It is entirely my fault; I got a new game at the beginning of the week, and spent so much time playing it my fingers feel like they're going to fall off...I don't have the map ready for this session.
No session today, I'm really, really sorry everyone :( (though it may be for the best if Patches is not present anyway). I promise I'll be ready for next week.
No problem, Tech... really. Looking forward to next week.
Okay, sorry about the delay last week, but I should be ready this time. Who's good for tomorrow?
Ya mean today? Meeeee! ^_^
Bad news for those who were looking to play today... work just called, one of the other tech's is sick... so i've gotta head there :/ it really sucks it's so last minute too, because i was looking forward to play with you all
I'd be interested in the gaming experience, but honestly I haven't played 3.5 since HS and i don't have any of the books so I have NO idea what I'd be doing.
Well, books aren't a problem. But if you want to start a different edition game, by all means, use this thread for interest calling (unless you just want to use your own thread, which I guess works too). ;)
No I'd be more interested in joining a game since I have NO clue on how to use the freaking map tools and I can't find a tutorial (reading instructions is not a strong point of mine). Still if anyone would be interested and patient with me I guess I could run a 4e game....
um...there is a link to the video tutorials in the first post of this thread... :shifty
And wait and see if any of the DMs around here say they've got an open slot, I unfortunately do not at the moment...
tutorials. I must have skimmed over them. I'll have a looksey... And I'll be watching. Thanks.
To my players:
Okay, we should be having a session tomorrow, usual time. At the very least, we'll finish this huge combat encounter, but I'm working to having something to do after that.
i'll try to be here today but i'm gettinar to sleep late so i may be a little late
This just stinks. I get my char going, and then the airport for my wireless goes down. I /might/ be able to work in a session monday night, if it's still monday night, but don't expect me too much this weekend, and even then maybe not even monday.
PLEASE NPC my char if you could Ghost. If needed, I can send a copy of my char sheet so you know what he has on hand (Could be helpful >.>), just in case. I don't want to leave the party short handed.
aw man, that sucks, Draken :( Is there no service in your house you can just directly plug into?
And announcement to my players; game should be on tomorrow, usual time. Chime in here if you expect to be there.
I could, but the problem is that Monday nights are usually ladies nights where I live currently, and where I need to plug in is kind of cramped. Therefore, they would grow suspicious as to /why/ I would want to spend a couple hours in such a place. And I have no idea how they react to the idea of a D&D session with me involved (It's complicated.) So unless those plans of theirs falls through, I might be able to do so undetected, so to speak. Trust me, it's complicated >.>
(please note that "they" includes my mother and her best friend who owns the house I am living in. >_< )
Not a problem Dray, could you upload your character sheet to the gmail?
Done. Have fun, unless of course I am able to show up Monday Night. Then ....uh....still have fun but with ME involved!

EDIT: whups, nevermind, forgot Andromeda and Brady weren't going to be here this week anyway xD
*riots and pitchforks* :P
Announcement to my players:
I've got good news and bad news. The good news is that I've got today off, so in between other things, I should have plenty of time to work on tomorrow's session.
The bad news is....I haven't unambiguously confirmed it yet, but Andromeda is most likely dropping from the game :( I'll be working on getting another player over the next week or so...
i have no ideal when i'll be up today but if i don't make it auto my character
So, as everyone knows, Andromeda -didn't- drop after all. And, another person has been talking with me, very interested in Eberron, so I am taking on a new slot in the game and filling him with it. You may meet him the very next session, if his sheet is ready by then ;)
I need to apologize to everyone for yesterday's game.

I need to apologize to everyone for yesterday's game.
If you wish, but for myself no apology needed. There are things that happen in life that take precedence over a game. I am just happy you are still with us on this adventure!
:hug

P.B. is right . disasters happen it's not your fault. R.L. will trump Online Life when the need arises and people who don't understand that maybe living in an imagery world like evanescence described in there song.
Announcment:
Huh, I thought I told you guys alreay, but apparently not. I am going to be gone saturday the 9th, week after this next game. So, no game that day.
Sorry for not telling you guys earlier, I thought I already did :<

You did mention it last session, although i do not know who was around when you did. No problem, hope the 9th is good to you...
Alright, just a last-minute double-check, but yes, there is supposed to be a session today...but it is also apparently Brady's birthday today, which I did not know. Are you still gonna be able to make it brady, or should today's session be called off? (since the new player is coming in, I don't want anyone to miss the session)
sorry i can't make it today i don't think send me the log though so i can keep up
. . . *sigh*
I'd really rather not have the session introducing a new player while missing another, but...are you sure you're okay with that, E?
Well, once again, the forums isn't emailing me. I dunno if my email is dropping it, the forums doesn't like me, or maybe Boxy and Darkmoon are in a conspiracy against me, but eh, I'll figure it out.
Andromeda - Whacha apologizing for? Your kitchen was attempting to do a bonfire impression. I think that takes just a little precedence over a D&D game. ;)
*Old fart arrives for the session*
BIRFDAY BEATINZ!
In other news, it appears that my character has gone from chaos-neutral to chaos-good. Seriously, he's been giving away gold and pricey things like mad, has tried to make a new guard friend happy, has been given a chance at sanity thanks to a lightning-zapped-sausage loving fox, one that he went berserk over when Frisk was kicked aside, and saved a freaking MUMMY. Was even trying to convince him to take a moment to hide out to keep other passengers from freaking (Roon notified the guard of potential panic attack to boot).
If that is not chaos-good, I don't know what is >.>
Though he was singing Wierd Al at the top of his lungs. So that might push him back to evil?
A bit of a late announcement, but the game -should- be on today (assuming my fingers don't die on me), three/four hours from the time of this post. Hope to see everyone there!
Game on tomorrow, although since Andromeda will be leaving early, we might want to try ad start a little earlier if everyone can.
well as you know work the night sift so i tend to head out to work around 11 o'clock most nights at latest.
Yeah, I figured on that, so we likely won't be able to start earlier than normal, but oh well..
Announcement:
There may or may not be a game this saturday. I'm leaning towards probably not, as on top of not having Andromeda, my family might be going to get pumpkins for halloween (yes, a day before, I know). So yeah. There -could- be a session saturday, but it's not likely.
Thanks for the heads up, soon-to-be Birthday boy...
Want to just call it off so everyone can make alternate plans?
...You know, that is probably best, good idea.
Okay, the game on saturday is officially called off!
(oh, and thanks :3 )
So... I've played Pathfinder, and I've seen so many anecdotal stories of D&D that I figure it's time I try it out. Only problem is, my schedule is absolute crap... I figured I'd ask to see if there are any open games first, and find out when they're running. Are there any open games?

DnDMFA?
oh, that's a port of DMFA stuffs into DnD3.5... so far highly experimental, and done by me saphroneth liatai and meany
Huh...So, there are any text-based DND 3.5 games I can join, so I don't have to download stuff?
erm... uh... we use MapTool.... 3.5 is hard to play without figures
Yeah. Get MapTool from the first page of this thread, it's worth it. Just a download and extract, no install, java-based. Just be sure to get the "b63" version, since that's the one most of us are on.
well.. phooey.. what am I supposed to do today then...
Halloween decorations? :D
OMG! I have to take those down!
So, does anyone have an open spot?
Mm... tasty, new blood. hehe... Ask Tech.
... we need more Half-Orcs... :U
Heh. Unfortunately, no, my game is not open at the moment. However, Ghostwish's game -might- be, and I think the D&DMFA folks could always use new beta-testers. I'll ask them to drop by here. That and I think there are a few other folks who want to get into d&d, so it's possible a new group could be formed.
Kay, then.
NUU!! I wanted new blood!
For those interested.
DnDMFA games happen at Thursdays, 7pm GMT.
For proper information, come to my IRC channel, #argument_atrium at boxy's IRC.
Currently playing:
VAE
Meany
Liatai
Ghostwish
Saphroneth
Drayco (just joining)
Whups, forgot to announce. Yes, we should be having a game today...
okay i'll set my alarm. also the time is off for some reason it's not 10 am yet
Daylight Savings started a week later this year (aka starts tonight), though some devices don't realize it and have the time an hour off.
I MAY be a bit late tonight... any idea what the actual start time will be?
Since this is far easier than trying to catch everyone on the IRC....
Who of you would object seriously if the DnDMFA game next week happened on Friday instead of Thursday?
Don't get mistaken i am still prepared to DM on Th. if it doesn't work, it's just that it would be an improvement to my schedule this particular week - (besides the supervisions being even more concentrated than usual, there is also the funeral erm, final, report on the robot thing due Wednesday.... besides my usual procrastination and stuff i am still bloody tired and dumb due to having been sick for a week as well)
Also, someone else taking over wouldn't be much help since i'd still be in the game XD and anyways i do have stuff for folk to do there so tough break , Ghostwish :mowhappy
I work on friday at that time. So, I would object. ;)
ah well, it was a good try.
Tough break, VAE. :P
Just a heads up to my comrades in Tech's Saturday DnD game:
My laptop's fan is going out. I will try to get it repaired starting tomorrow. Being the optimistic guy I am, I figured I should let you know that if I am gone from the interwebs this week, including next Saturday, that is the reason why.
Hey guess what. I don't work friday anymore. ;)
Nice to hear... though i don't wanna deprive Liatai of a game on her B-day either.
I will see how much i can push it... so far looks allright
Oh, pfft, if you're worried about that, don't be. I'd be happy with just leading some folks through the Box Room again if it came down to it and folks wanted to play on Thursday. :razz
Though, if we were going to have a game on Friday, there's a chance I might not be able to make it. My brother has been hinting at something musical and possibly concert-like going on that day. :shifty
Thursday it is, then
sure i'll peak in on Thursday. it's a better day for me then Saturday any way.
Announcement;
Okay, so it's possible there may be no game, or a late game tomorrow. E has said it's unikely he'll show up, and Meany says that he will likely be late as well. As usual, I don't want to go ahead with two missing people, so if meany or E shows up, we're good. If not...eh, there's always next week.

Alrighty, we should be having a game tomorrow, hopefully wrapping up this adventure. Also of note is that next week (or the week after, I'm horrible with dates), I -may- be gone during Thanksgiving, and if I am, there will most likely not be a session. However, this is still up in the air, nothing has been finallized yet (or even began, really).

It may be prudent to go ahead and call off the Thanksgiving weekend session... It is a hectic time for most, but not all, of us Yanks and going ahead and calling a break for that weekend seems to be a wise idea.
I will see (hopefully) everyone tomorrow night at the wrap up party... er, session..
i should be there. getting ready for work now
A wild re-announcement appears!
Draken has returned! Hence, the game is closed to any without awesome backstories(*TM). Here's a quick synopsis of the plot:
Four years ago, Cyre vanished in an arcane apocalypse that spread a killer grey mist across the nation, twisting and destroying all it touched. The mist has gone dormant now, but the mystery still remains. Who did it? Why?
For one particular adventuring party, that much seems to have been answered. Aaren d'Cannith, the creator of the warforged race, is alive, and is responsible. Perhaps insane from having his own creations stolen from him and used as pawns of war, the mighty Artificer has set about in a mad plot to end all war, forever, through sheer force of terror. Using an ancient and eldritch design schema, he has unleashed a terrible weapon once before.. and he intends to do so again.
It is now up to the adventurers, in a race against time, to stop him or die trying. Worse yet is the fact it's not such a secret after all. It seems many powers that be are aware of Aaren, the power he possesses, and are hellbent on either stopping him, or gaining said power for themselves. The adventurers find themselves pitted against terrible foes in their journey to find the answers and the means to stop the Artificer.
Welcome to the Eberron Cold War.
(Thanks for reminding me, Tech. Here's our current character list.)
Techmasterglitch - Warforged Artificer
Liatai - Changling Druid
Dr. Hatari - Human Dread Necromancer (Currently. He also has a human warmage he plans to switch back to.)
Blaquestone - 'Dorien' - Dragonmarked Heir
Iphimedia - Warforged Monk
Draken - Ryoondar, gnome barbarian
The party has also managed to make the acquaintance and the alliance of a half-dragon paladin.
Current player level as of this post is 6. For supplemental (splat) material, I use a house rule called, ironically enough, the Cold War rule. Core material, along with Eberron material and the Expanded Psionics Handbook, are open and free game to both players and DM. Everything else is locked. The players may, at their own peril, unlock a book that they may use. But then the DM gets a book of their choice. The players may not access the book the DM has, and the DM may not access the book the players have for anything beyond simple game rules and mechanics, unless they both unlocked the same book. So, munchkin game at your own peril.
Game time is Mondays, 7:30 PM central time. We use Maptool, currently b66. You can PM me here, or, a more reliable way of getting in touch with me, seek me out on the IRC server that Boxy trolls, and I am typically in #D&D.
Hope to see ya soon! ^_^
- Ghostwish
Edit 1: Added current character list.
Edit 2: Stupid smiley.

Despite some comp troubles, I'm going to go ahead and try to run saturday's session anyway to see how it goes. If the connection crashes get too bad, then we'll probably have to wait until I can get my comp fixed...
Uhm....Hi? I finally have a working computer again! But I have a minor problem: I....forgot the server name for the chat area....
*casts regeneration on tech's computer* :O
How the heck did I miss Draken's post? I'm half-willing to chalk that one up to the mighty lag monster.
Anyway, that brings an update to my game. Draken is back, so his slot is closed again. Awesome backstories will be required in order to be considered. ;)
Anyone got any games I could I join? I've finally got Irc.
You might join my DnDMFA group if you aren't afraid of silliness, experimentation and sometimes, 10 minute turn disease.
Come to #argument_atrium on boxy's server some day and see for yourself ^^'
How do I find Boxy's server...?
IRC://irc.llearch.net i believe but he has a link in his signature as well i think
techmastergltch: I am ill today. Not sure if I will be able to sit in the game today. I'm off to lay down for a while. Will let you know one way or another later today.
Shucks. :<
i am up and running ready for today's game.
More bad news folks, in addition to the game being off the day after christmas, the game is -also- going to have to be off the saturday after New Year's (and all days in between, I'm visiting family from after christmas to New Year's). However, that doesn't mean we have to miss a game completely, we may be able to reschedule. After the monday after New Year's (and before the next saturday), what days does everyone have free?
I'll be available until the 5th. This works out fine, I'm not sure yet, but I may be AWOL around New Years.
Greetings all. Feels like I just got back, and now I have bad news again. Due to a family crisis of sorts, I have lost the net ability I once enjoyed. As such, my times on the D&D front may now be very very limited. The privacy and length of time I could be on the internet has been greatly slashed, not to mention the effects of said crisis coming into play. I will look into the matter further, and if it comes to be that I will be unable to join the games as I once did in past, I am afraid I will have to pull out a grand deal sooner than I could have ever wanted.
Blimey. >< Hope things sort themselves out soon!
What Ghost said. But delivered with hugs and cookies. :<
i will not be here the 8. i have a personal matter to attend to.
Heads up!
No game this thursday. I'm off on family time.
Well, I guess I could try doing my own Campaign, unless anyone else has an open campaign.
I do. :U Depending on whether or not you mind downloading a few d20 Modern splatbooks.
Alright. So, when does the next session begin, Meany?
Within a week or so. :U

Yeah, ignore my post of DOOOOOM. Family thing is still going on, but I have given free reign of computer on monday nights, as well as administrative access.
So...yeah.
Alright, everyone. Let's see if we can get this ball rolling. I'd like to shoot for a game tomorrow, though E is already confirmed as not being able to attend. One person missing isn't too big of a deal, but there's also a chance Ghost won't be able to come around, either. If he can't, then there's no game. If he does, then we're good. Unfortunately, I don't have anything more definative than that at the moment, so we're just on the fence. We'll see how things work out tomorrow.

I hope...
Whups, forgot to post earier, but we should be having a game tomorrow (today for some of you?), and we will be starting on a new adventure! (if we don't get too caught up with getting all the characters up to speed, that is :B )

There is no game tomorrow. My computer is mostly working again, but I still need to set things up so that I can host a MapTool server, and that's going to take awhile because I can't figure out how I did it the first time (not remember, figure out--I had checked the configurations sometime well before this crash and none of it made sense. I will be leaving for Colorado Monday (24 Jan) and will not return until 10 Feb. This is a "vacation" trip and I will have my laptop with me, so I may be able to join the games on 29 Jan and 5 Feb. No promises. I should have an idea if I can participate or not at least a few days in advance of each game and will inform all accordingly.
If you happen to be in the Vail - Beaver Creek, Colorado area over the next few weeks, look for me! I will be hanging out at the place they call the "Bunny Slope." That's where all the Playboy Girls hang out, right?

Your absent-minded DM forgot to get his computer's static ip and port-forward set up all week, so I'll be trying to do that tomorrow morning. Even whether I do or don't, however, it's not likely we'll have a "real" session, it will be more updating and organizing, and if in-character, character spending a few days or a week on R&R as we couldn't finish the updating the last two weeks with my computer troubles. So sorry if any of you are wanting to hurry on to the next adventure, hopefully we'll start that next week :<

Some bad news. There may not be a session at all tomorrow, I got hit with a bunch of schoolwork. If there -is- a session, it will be late, and it will be short, but I'll see if I can get something together. We'll see what happens.
I will check in when it is time. School has to take priority, this is understood.
I won't be here the 25th
i'm sorry to hear that
May be here the 25th, just not the 19th.
Not gonna be here for this game? Ah, dang :<
CRAP! Forgot to announe that yes, game is on tomorrow...
To Whom It May Concern.
I have myself a little game going on Friday evenings. We start at 6:30 pm CST/GMT-6. I use a combination of d20 Modern/Future/Urban Arcana, appended to the DMFA d20 add-on. [Which is in the process of moving to the Wiku-wiki, but can be found here. (http://dndmfa.wikia.com/wiki/Dungeons_and_DMFA_-_a_fanmade_d20_Furrae_addon_Wiki) Note; some templates are in the process of revision, if you create a character with a template that is later revised, you may elect to alter your character to that template or keep the old template.
Campaign Description: One hundred and ninety years after the events of DMFA canon, a city thrives. Olore'ril, capital city of Clan Une'jysune has become a sanctuary for every Cubi clan depleted of members, or dying species. Une'jysune himself developed a revolutionary new method of magic which allowed him to preform tasks which should have been only possible by those thousands of years older, one of these was field a fertility treatment guaranteed to produce a viable embryo. The Adventurer's Guild is naturally very large and powerful in the city to protect it from those who wish to see the hope it brings destroyed. A group of concerned persons have begun their own adventure to uncover a plot which has attempted to claim their lives twice.

Speaking of this, owl, am thinking of having you and Ghostwish fight a duel in order to break the clash that prevents my game from happening.
Announcement to players; game should be on at normal time tomorrow. Let's see how this goes...
Oops! Forgot to announce this time. yes, a game -should- be on today, if anyone gets this!

Oops! Forgot to announce this time. yes, a game -should- be on today, if anyone gets this!
Got it. Might be a little late showing up, but if so I doubt be much.
Announcement to players:
Game on tomorrow! We will want to start as early as possible though, Andromeda may have to leave early (and then we'll end the session, this next part is going to be very dialogue-heavy)
So, are there any openings in any of the current campaigns?
Forgot announcememnt again. To my playsers; yes, we should be having a game going on today, as long as everyone shows up.
Reminder for this week; there is -no- game tomorrow, as we will be missing several players. We should pick up next week, however.
Whups, seems we aren't picking up this week, either. And no, it's no an April Fools joke.
thanks for the heads up. i'll sleep in today.
To my players;
Sorry, game's gotta be delayed yet another week. This time, it's my RL. Got a load of work to do. We'll pick up next week (hopefully) with Brady/Horl's exit.
understood no hard feelings. it just means i don't have to set my alarm today besides i have some over due cooking to do.
Late announcement to players;
Yes, there is a game tomorrow! Usual time, usual place! Let's get this show back on the road!
Just a quick shout-out to offer many thanks to techmaster-glitch for introducing me to the world of Dungeons and Dragons. Also a big thanks to Andromeda, e_voyager, Meany, and Ghostwish for having the patience to drag me along.
I wish you all many happy hours of gaming!
Horlamin (Horl) Armorsmith, that noob Half-Orc guy.
thanks and you will be missed
Late Accouncement to Players:
Many apologies, but I'm going to have to cancel today's game :< I'm just not ready, and there's some other things I've been...well...putting off that I really shouldn't have been :/ It is all my fault for this, and I am very sorry. However, we should be picking up next week! (and we -might- even have a new player...)
So, would anyone be interested in a Star Wars Campaign?
I would, but I doubt I would have time for it.
Won't be here, Saturday, the 30th
Durnit. ><
Ah, bugger it. Unfortunately, we'll have to postepone the game again, as not only is a new player coming in, but the next par really needs Zac. Oh well, we'll pick back up next week!
the i shall sleep in tomorrow when ever i make it home
Announcement to players; Yes, there should be a game tomorrow.
Above announcement: Erm...scratch that. I've got some bad news, I'm afraid. :(
*dreaddreaddread* o.o
I came on to tell everyone I wouldn't be around Saturday and remembered that we don't have game anymore.. durr...
So, once again, anyone interested in being in a star wars d20 campaign?
it does sound interesting
Sorry to say that due to an explosion in the sched, I am now going to be LATE to the new Ghostwish game. Of course. After I was so sure I was going to be early >_<
AAaaaaaaaaaaand it gets better. My house has lost it's net thanks to father problems, and I will DEFINITELY not make it to wednesday nor thursday. With some luck, I can get things fixed on friday XO. Nonetheless, you're gonna be short a gnome and dragonborn
This is relevant to my interests, if there's ever an opening
in any fantasy campaign, I would like to join please
thank you :mowhappy
Draken,
What times would you be available on friday?
I have no idea cause I am not even sure the company will even reactivate the service after I pay for it. It might even be saturday or later till it comes back, depending on how badly they want to screw us over.
Just a heads up, might be up to an hour late. I got landed the responsibility of dropping coworker at home AND filling up someone else's car in the process.
Of.......course.
Remember me saying I should make it tonight? Power went out, not sure when it should come back. Figures. If I do miss out, can it not count as a strike, given the circumstances?
Hmm. Technically necropost, but it's still *the* DnD thread, so why bother making a new one?
After... something like two years, it came about that I'm pondering running a D&D3.5 game over maptool. Would anyone at all be tentatively interested?
The setting, given the fact it's one I developed most, and the general theme of this forum, would be the Furrae-set Kebrean Gubernia and its neighbours; for closer information perhaps see the forum RP thread I ran with Meany under the name A Bone to Pick.
The game would likely use the provisional DnDMFA ruleset tossed together back then which is located on the DnDMFA wiki here. (http://dndmfa.wikia.com). There's a version that used to be up to date compiled and linked on the wiki too, for easier use.
I generally dwell in my IRC channel - #argument_atrium on irc.llearch.net. Feel free to stop by.
More than likely I won't have time for it. Otherwise, yeah, super interested.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes super-yes. Although I have the same time-concerns as Ghost.
See previous, complete with hopping up and down in my seat. Still have that lawful good necromancer concept I wanna play...
I'm both impressed and honored by the attention.
Pop down to the IRC at some point, folks, and we can hopefully work out some sort of a time schedule, or at least waste a significant amount of time doing so and looking at random links.
BIG FAT NOTE.
For me, the availability comes down to something like GMT evenings-nights, with details to be worked out, with exception of Wednesday where there's a game already.
So far, Ghostwish was the only one to mention a constraint - apparently he can only make Mondays.
I suspect the best way to go ahead would be for anyone to list their temporal availability, with respect to times that go something like 20:00 GMT - 02:00 GMT (subject to alteration based on specific day, but these are times that definitely work) on all weekdays but wednesday, and we shall try accomodating to you lot somehow, before I'll start getting stuff ready.
Actually. If you make this a night shift game? Like, ending at like 4 am USA times? I could totally open up some days for you. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, they'd all become available.
UUUPDATE: So, my schedule is gonna be shifting a bit come april. I'll be working wednesdays, and free on sunday and mondays. Though the Reshal game is on sunday. But night shift is still open! I'm US Central time, which is UTC-6. I sleep at 4 am and wake up at noon. Let's make it happen, ja?
*staples VAE's tail to the floor*
Just to make it explicitly clear - due to my inability to beat a sensible schedule out of the few people who were interested, this is on the backburner indefinitely.
