Now it is time for them to go kill DP.

I wonder if she found a new top in one of those crates. If video games have taught me anything, it's that crates usually produce useful stuff when you smash them. :B

I'm thinking that Aliyka and Shannah have finally managed to break into the wine cellar or perhaps found a nice vat of ale. They've been at it a while now (time enough for the death knight to stomp Dan and Co. and carry them all the way to Dark Pegasus, for DP to bother dealing with the dark knight (DP seems the type to keep everyone else waiting), and for Dan to finally wake back up), so I figure they've worked up quite a thirst and call a timeout to wet their whistles with a few barrels each -- after which they're BFF and go on a drunken rampage together looking for more refreshments and manage to take down most of the rest of the castle in the process, just as DP is about to do his thing - providing the necessary distraction for Dan to finally take care of business.

Except for the drunken rampage afterwards, I was right (though there is still time for this too). I'm savoring the sweetness, since this will probably never happen again.  :mowhappy

I think the last thing she said on the previous strip kinda gave a hint.

"Ha! I knew there was no lung puncture! He screams too well for one!"

... you think she might have known?

Oh come now -- that was even the very first post I ever made on this forum. I should get a chance to celebrate just a little. However no one argued with me about it at the time, so I don't have anyone I can lord it over.  :mowsad  Oh well.

I think Shanna and Aliyka know that Daniel is male at the current moment in the flashback, but at the wine cellars, it is highly possible they did not.

Danna, heheh.

Oh, and I think Shanna had not found her clothing before hitting the casks.

I'm wondering if they're subscribing to the same idea postulated earlier, that he could think... like a girl? I don't know, and besides, maybe they just think that's his name. Besides, Danna's not a gender specific name if I'm remembering historical precedent correctly.

So I take it Aliyka might have just gotten out of school for this adventure. If we look back to Lorenda's high school flash back. Am I right or could a couple of years have passed in that time.

Lack of boobs != not female.

However it's generally a good indicator.

Anyway...

I'm hopeful those three can work together well enough to take down DP with no further losses.  Admittedly we don't know how Anna fared but I'm not going to be overly hopeful for her.  Either way, I think the Amazons have suffered enough with the loss of just one of them so I'd like to see the other two (and Aliyka, but we know she makes it) get out alive as well.  If not, I hope they go out well.

very fast if they started while those barrels were still mug proportions to their body

i almost said 'shotglass' but they werent that big..... however, imagine drinking an entire barrel of wine while its a 'normal' proportion to your giant dragon body, and then shifting back to your smaller form where that wine is at least half your mass or more

how did they get reasonably sober so soon? or was dan out for two days or something?

Oh, you just gotta love the over-lit transformation sequence (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_521.php). That's some good shiny...
And they need a pose. Can't forget the pose...

"Power of the Mythos Plant! Sailor Anna!"
"Power of the Dragon Top! Sailor Shanna!"

If they checked him for injuries, as indicated about the open front and the comment about lung punctures, I believe they would have found a few hints about Dan's gender.  By the way Alikya sort of fits the rhyming naming pattern as well.

At the time the comment was made (and when I'm posting this) it was "Devin is Gay for Abel" or whatever you call the one where the two of them are staring at each other in a cloud of pink.

There really isn't all that much to see... not that I was examining the comic all that closely, noooooooooo...

I believe the random is regenerated each time someone calls for the page, though. But with only 4 images in the cue, it's quite possible that it was the Devin x Abel one. From here (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,4126.msg175448.html#msg175448), FYI. There's the large version there too.

I think Shanna called Dan "Danna" because she likes him (probably heard how well he fought against Aliyka) and wants to honor him with a female name, because, as any Amazon could tell you, females are the superior sex.  :)  Does Shanna live at 10 Chickweed Lane?

With regards,

given his cubi heritage hasn't surfaced at this point, the Clan marking is an early indicator, but even then, it's Dan, and the marking manifests with use from magic, therefore, no marking in that case.

I doubt Dragons have "Cubi-dar" in any case, regardless.

given his cubi heritage hasn't surfaced at this point, the Clan marking is an early indicator, but even then, it's Dan, and the marking manifests with use from magic, therefore, no marking in that case.
Quite.  Supposedly it will appear on his shoulder eventually, so depending on whether his arms are covered or not, it may not even be visible.

QuoteI doubt Dragons have "Cubi-dar" in any case, regardless.
Difficult to say.  If the demonology is any guide, they are stupendously powerful, and considered young at tens of millennia.
If nothing else, I imagine you'd probably become quite good at guessing someone's race in that time, and if you run into a guy with wings who doesn't seem to be a phoenix and doesn't seem to have any Angel in him, that starts to narrow down the options.

In Azlan's case he uses a patch...  not that he really needs it as a Fae.

In any case, there is always the option of Shanna simply not caring.  I'm sure there are plenty of dragons not with the group that Destina wants to kill..  she's just a genocidal maniac that wants them all dead.

From what Fa'Lina and Fi were saying, it cuts both ways.  That said, I'd like to believe that Pyroduck isn't the only impartial Dragon.

Well, there's also the dragon Dan owes money to.  Of course, thatone might also want to kill him when it learns about his Cubiness and clan.

To which Dan would have to muse:  You know, it was alot better when he wanted my money instead of my life.   :3

Ya know, I don't see why everyone thinks Destania is so bad for wanting the end of the dragon race. Aren't we supposed to sympathize with Cubi here? Why shouldn't we want the dragons gone? What have they done for the good of Furrae? And with them out of the picture, all the other races (beings included) would get a better piece of the pie.

This opinion might not be popular, but I fully support Destinia and Biggs.

The problem with that is that we really haven't met all that many dragons, and those that we have met are either nice and heroic (Shanna and Pyroduck) or at least honorable and apologetic for mistakes they made (like the one who accidentally wiped out the vampire). I mean, yes, you have a valid viewpoint, but personally I'd like to meet a few more dragons and get some perspective from someone whose husband hasn't been kidnapped by dragons. And yes, according to their species profile dragons tend to be jerks, but anyone would be that stuck-up if they were in the position of power and intelligence the dragons are in. Adding to that is that I have a slight aversion to the concept of species-wide genocide. She may have her reasons, but we haven't heard all of them yet. I'm going to wait a little longer before I decide whether or not to throw my weight behind Biggs and Destania.

We don't even know whether it is genocide.  Personally, I doubt one 7000-year-old succubus could, in one night, kill all the multi-million-year-old members of a race that is described in the demonology as having no weaknesses and impenetrable hides.
To my mind, it's more likely - but still an incredible feat - that she intends to trap them in the hypothetical 'dragon kingdom' or otherwise banish them from Furrae.

Because genocide is never good, unless its a race of Hitlers or something being the targets

GYAH! Did ya have to say his name?

In all seriousness, the idea that Destania might actually be planning the extinction of an entire sentient species is terrifying. Wiping out a non-sentient species is one thing (and it's a terrible thing, nonetheless), but wiping out a sentient species is a level of evil beyond even that. If the extermination of the Dragon race really is her plan, and if she goes through with it (even if it doesn't work for some reason), I'll lose every drop of respect for her... and frankly I hope her family and Fa'Lina does too.

I'm still not convinced that the eradication of dragons would be a bad thing.
I highly doubt that Dan would like his mother wiping out a bunch of sentients. But Fa'lina? She's quite pro-Cubi and while the Cyra clan is the main target of dragons, I would bet that other Cubi harbor little appreciation for the lizards. Not to mention that destroying an entire race of powerful creatures would certainly say a lot about the strength of Destinia. Cubi don't seem as power-hungry as demons or angels, but Cubi still respect it. Dee might lose any possibility of a nomination for the Noble Peace Prize, but she would gain a nice, large spotlight in the public eye.

Sure, but the intention was that all the dragons we've seen have been either heroic or apologetic.

You make a really good point. Thanks for getting it out much more succinctly than I could have managed. Abel even talked about how all Cubi aren't "evil," and it's just the way that they were raised: dragons would be no different, really.

But, I guess what I was trying to say is that you shouldn't wipe a species out just because they tend to be jerks and because a few members hold it over everyone else. Why not just kill the evil dragons and leave the rest of the jerks alone. I mean, if we were going to kill all the jerks, then we'd have to bump off Abel too, and the Jybel shippers wouldn't have that. There's got to be a better way than genocide.

And if she's really planning to seal all of them in an artificial dimension, then Destania is just asking for trouble. Imagine how angry they'll be when they finally break out... and they'll know that a Cubi was behind the plan.

They'll find out. Besides, considering the nature of that old war between the Dragons and Cubi, it won't take them long to figure out who was gunning for them. And they might be furious enough to go after the whole Cubi race rather than just kill the handful of people who planned the whole thing, at which point my sympathy for the dragons would start to evaporate.

Sheesh, the only people whose side we're firmly on is the main characters: everyone else is made up of so many shades of gray it's almost impossible to tell good from bad.

Eh, to clarify, I meant the ones we individually consider hero's.  For example say I liked DP:  I'd have an image in my mind of him that clearly established him as either good or evil or neither that would be part of why I liked him.

It has been suggested that the Dragons started the war in an effort to eradicate the 'Cubi, though AFAIK we don't have anything solid to back that up.

Even then - even if they kicked off the genocide business in the first place - we still have pro-'Cubi or neutral dragons like Pyroduck, and (possibly) Shanna...

That I can see. I merely argue that someone like Destania would be good enough to either remain incognito or unrecognisable while the whole thing is going down. No use showing your face to the guys you're sealing away, after all. You don't want the last thing they see to be what you look like, after all. The art of subtlety (granted, something of that magnitude is not very subtle) is an underrated art by many.
