Most of my music is album rock, so attempting to blending it into one huge playlist isn't really going to work  :B

That said I am listening to "When the wolves return to the forest" by an obscure Spanish death metal outfit called Nazgul.

Luckily, I was listening to music, as I came upon this post! XD LOL There was nothing good on tv for decent background noise (and to block out the neighbors........:sweatdrop), so I turned on my good ol' PS3!   :mowhappy

The song playing right now is:

You Want by Porcelain and the Tramps

Zero Zero, by Mike Batt.  Currently in "Love Makes You Crazy".
This was an obscure and very bizarre musical shot in Australia by the man who popularised The Wombles.  The basic plotline is that love has been classed as a disease and cured.  Of course, the protagonist becomes infected with it.

At first I was listening to Snow Patrol's "You Could Be Happy", but then I started getting teary so I stopped it. Then I listened to "Carry Me Down" - Demon Hunter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD2t1qLJGLQ).

And when that didn't work, I listened to the song Tapewolf posted, and I feel better now.

Fuck Snow Patrol. :c

And oh dear, it looks like I'll end up buying Steeleye Span's entire back catalogue at this rate.  The albums I do have - "Below the Salt" and "Parcel of Rogues" are among their best but apparently I was foolish to neglect the others.

"Bedlam Boys" by Steeleye Span, off their "Please to See the King" album.  [Note that it gets better after 1:11]

"Toeto (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKc2h0PiSIA)." It's. Too. Cute. ^_^

I'll admit, I have a little bit of a weakness for Vocaloid music. Granted, I have to look up the translations for the ones in Japanese, but I just admire how well the people who make these songs use those digital (simulated-vocal) instruments to tell the stories and create the effects they want.

... Oh, no! Now it's stuck in my head! Help!

Fun fact: this song was listened to with a pair of headphones that was NOT PLAYING IN ONE EAR. And what makes me mad about this is that I bought these headphones eleven days ago. Man, and they looked so sexy. I thought they'd be immortal.

Am I the only one that listens to japanese music? Eh, probably... All this stuff is by Ali Project, and some of it is downright depressing. (If not downright EVIL!) If you want a translation, go Here (http://lyrics.wikia.com/Ali_Project). Heck, they do a ton of anime ending and beginning themes so odds are good you've heard some of them before. (.hack//GU, a couple of the LeLouch of the Rebellion endings, and the second example...)

Aka to Kuro (Red and Black) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_Dfyv-ALgc), Lyrics/Translation (http://lyrics.wikia.com/Ali_Project:%E8%B5%A4%E3%81%A8%E9%BB%92)

Nope, you're not. I like listening to music in non-English languages (even though I can't speak a lick of anything except English and Spanish). c: Most of the Japanese music I listen to is either Vocaloid music or Gackt, though.

I already brought up "Toeto" earlier in this thread... so, have another of my favorite Vocaloid tracks, "The Old Radio (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY0tL4Od0NU&NR=1)," subtitled in English.

I listen to a few bands from Japan, though generally they don't use japanese in their lyrics much. There's Sigh, an avant garde black metal band, Gallhammer, another black metal band, on the non metal side I listen to DJ Sharpnel, Killingscum and m1dy, all hard techno.

Also I've been listening to a lot of Fredrik Miller (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fredrikmiller)'s music recently as well.

I can't just pick one song to post! :3 Apparently it seems unusual, but I pretty much only listen to full albums not individual songs. Though some artists don't seem to release albums, and I have to make album-length collections myself...

Before I finished posting, it changed to "Fuck Armageddon, this is hell" Bad Religion. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrNrqLMyPeo) One that's up there for me because of the line "There's people out there who say I'm no good, because I don't believe the things that I should."

"The American Metaphysical Circus" by the United States of America (1968)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnWY3cP8Hr0
...this is extremely experimental and far-out, even for 1968.  I'd run it from about 2:00 where it's simply far-out, as opposed to completely demented (e.g. the start)

We shall shortly institute / A syntopicon of fear
While it's painful, it will suit / Many customers whose appetites are queer
Or for those who wish to pay / There are children you can bleed
In a most peculiar way / We can give you all the instruments you'll need

And the price is right - the cost of one admission is your mind

Thanks Laitai, for the link. While listening to the Dubliners on YouTube, I noticed the "promoted link" to the side, and, well, the title got the best of me and I had to check it out. It's part of ProjectRant dot com and covers the act of indulging in one's bodily function in the produce aisle in a super market. Possible NSFW due to subject matter; LINK (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMN00JD2AaM)

So that is what I was listening to at the moment. My apologies to all.

danman; thanks for the links. I am curious about what was being played during that era when the 'Cold War' was still on.

Hard to believe this song is a requiem, huh? (Beyond that, don't ask me what the song means; I haven't the foggiest. :animesweat)
I was interested so I went a found a copy of the lyrics and translated it as well as I could. Here are the results:

Yomi Zakura (Cherry Blossoms of the Underworld)*
*"Yomi" literally means "yellow springs" but has been almost always been alluded to the underworld in Japanese mythology, referring to the sulphuric springs the underworld is reputed to hold.

In the dead of the dark night, it is that veiled moon which rises
The pale golden light extends slowly towards the horizon line

I, being dyed magenta, am the cherry blossoms which grow aside the spring
Tonight, I will blossom chaotically, and send the wandering souls on their ways!

Help that heart which is bound because it longs for its homeland to escape from its regretful, sorrowful state
The beautiful flowers, heading towards its next journey must bid "them" farewell
As for those who are left behind, they can only lament for their cursed future, sinking to the deepest depths of the sorrowful abyss.
Let the beautiful flowers blossom; tonight also send "them" the magenta!

Our long-held affinity has since been cut in the month of renewal (February)
On the journey starting in the spring dawn is you, the one who I love

Help that heart which is bound because it longs for its homeland to escape from its regretful, sorrowful state
The beautiful flowers, heading towards its next journey must bid "them" farewell
Not lamenting over those who were left behind - this is the only thing which I can do
Let the beautiful flowers blossom, let the magenta represent the falling tears in my weeping!

O, the elegant petals who fall dancelike! Please go to the faraway kingdom of the yellow springs!
Go with a multitude of hearts; help see off "their" souls!
O, long for the people who are left behind! Please do not lose yourself in your sorrowful depression
Together with the elegantly falling strands of magenta, be proud of the beautiful blossoms!

During that month which in we severed our affinity,
To the one who starts their journey on a spring dawn, you my lover I gift these petals
I, being dyed magenta, am the cherry blossoms which grow aside the spring
By letting my petals fall and spread, I bid you who is heading on a journey farewell.

"In the Land of the Pig, the Butcher is King (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ymjj7wQ5dY)", from the abandoned Batman musical, later covered by Meatloaf. (At the time I posted this, it was just stuck in my head.)

As usual, the villains get all the best songs.  In this case, they stand out all the more because most of the tracks are so darn somber.

"Sonic Doesn't Need a Story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxxlCZs9oaM)", by Alex Day.  I think he's speaking for less people than he thinks, and everywhere I turn I see more evidence that I should buy Sonic Rush, which introduces Blaze the Cat, but... it's catchy, and the last verse is unexpectedly funny.

Meanwhile, just today before actually listening to it for the first time and based only on knowledge that it existed, I came up with the song "A Story Needs Sonic".  So far, I've figured out how The Great Gatsby and The Odyssey might benefit from Sonic's presence...
