I'll guess it snapped at the moment when Mab stabbed Nutmeg for the second time and she did not bleed or die or anything.

the angle of the spear changed between panel one and two...  Actually it didn't, but it should have unless Nutmeg bent the spear head when she turned.  'Cause she might just be that strong yo.

Looks right to me.  In panel 1, she's sitting straight up and facing away from the camera, but in panel 2, she's leaning to one side and orthogonal to the camera.

That smirk makes me wonder if Mab's telling the truth...though she probably is.  If I were in Mab's shoes, I'd probably consider the request, but I'm funny like that.

:mowmeep        Is this a case of when Jyrras' mind starts to strain or snap, or is Amber having a mind blowing too close to the wind in making the plot for these recent updates. I mean Jy seems to only been a 'puppet' here. and this last page seems too plot-convenient ....

:mowmeep       However, it seems that Jyrras got out of that discussion with Lorenda for the moment ...

Seeing as the poll didn't have an option for Strip 177 (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_177.php) (Don't look at me like that, it was an open ended question and that's a perfectly valid answer), I'll have to go with Nutmeg blowing the spear out of her chest.

Along with Nutmegs other powers we can now catalog: physics defiant dress fu.

If you look in that first panel, the dress is clearly cut cleanly in half in a way that would be most revealing if not for this power. :)

Jyrras' mind seems to snap anytime he is around Mab...I will vote for all of the above.

But really, Why is Mab giving Nutmeg what she wants so easily.. I know she is a good gal and all.  But The queen is the only one, we have seen to really tick Mab off..  Not even DP could do that for long.

Mmmm Will Mab have a special request of Nutmeg after this? or before she gives up her mother's soul?

And what relationship will Mab be to the Queen and/or the new princess?  Oh wait Can the Fae mother change the gender of the recycled soul?  Can Mab's "dead" mother become a Prince?

I must say Mab is a real nice gal.  She gets kicked out of her home kingdom, the one who kicked her out, Mab stabs her with pointy things every time they see each other.  Mab hates Nutmeg and even said so YET Mab would not want to hinder in Nutmeg's happiness by not allowing her to have a child.

Mab is truly one of a kind.  She hates Nutmeg but would not want to deny her a chance of happiness.  I mean a number of people would go out of their way to deny said individual a chance at happiness yet Mab is content with making Nutmeg into a spear cushion.

Oh and Jyrras's brain snapped, the most recent time, somewhere between spear 1 being 'removed' and spear 2 being 'inserted.'

Can you have a mortal enemy if you are immortal.

If someone is mean to me, I  believe in being nice to them.  Sometimes you have misunderstood them, and they really don't deserve the nastiness.  Sometimes they can change.  And if they are really nasty and unable to change, nothing drives them as far up the wall as being nice to them.  And in that case, they deserve it.

slight edit to the poll topic, for less confusion. (because seriously, if we were counting ALL the times that Jyrras' mind snapped through the comic, the list would go onto UNGOLDY INFINITY! :U)

Just incase anyone cares (and almost certainly doesn't) My vote was for Nutmeg blowing the spear clear out of her chest.  :P THAT was funny.
I've also decided that I will close the poll when the next regular comic comes out, just for the sake of having a set time-frame to make it possible for a tally of final votes.

Mab's reply makes perfect sense, really.  It's WEIRD, yeah, but it certainly jives with her personality.

She's got a lot of bad feelings for Nutmeg.  Stabbings are surely in order, of course, but Mab is also, at least on the "big stuff" level, supernaturally mature.  On more than one occasion, she's been the voice of sublime reason, pointing out how foolish conflict is, or saving the day with a timely peacable alliance.

So faced with a chance to give an enemy a chance at real happiness, of the kind that could qualitatively alter their relationship, Mab is only too happy to go for it, take a chance at changing the way things are going, and maybe start the process that will bury the hatchet.

And by making her point clear that all is still NOT forgiven, Mab makes certain that Nutmeg won't think that she's somehow "off the hook" to make things right.

You GO Mab.

I can't help but picture Mab's reincarnated mom saying "Go to your room" after Mab stabs Nutmeg.

That raises the question as to what memories of past lives are possessed by reincarnated fae.  Also the question as to whether the original source of the souls would be considered in how to treat the fae, or if respect and obedience would be based on the current life only.

I also had a vision of Nutmeg offering to mediate between Jyrras and Lorenda with a line such as  ** If Nutmeg can deal with Mab's meanness for a thousand years, Nutmeg can deal with Jyrras and Lorenda **

Albanion/Nutmeg said that the magical energy is recycled into a brand new soul, so there would be no retained memories. Which is why this

Yes. Yes there was. Weather or not that is a coincidence or something more remains to be seen, but in all probability, it is simply a coincidence.

There is no such thing as coincidence, especially when in a webcomic!  The only exception is when the author explicitly says that something is a coincidence.  Since Amber has said nothing on this matter to this point, we therefore are forced to assume that it is not a coincidence, and that there is some connection between Nutmeg the fae and Nutmeg the warp-aci.

Or maybe Amber has an unhealthy fixation on the spice....

If you take enough of it, it can get you high, yuo know. (do NOT try this: it's not pleasant).

* imagines Amber standing in front of Nutmeg Anonymous meeting*
Amber: "Hi, My name is Amber Williams..."
Group: "Hi, Amber"
Amber: "And I'm a nutmeg-addict...."

And now back to planet reality.  :[

Sometimes a warp-aci is just a warp-aci.  This is the kind of wild and crazy speculation that drives off a lot of people.  Discuss, sure, but I'm sure you all don't want to cause Amber to get so fed up of this forum that she stops posting completely in here.

There are such things as coincidences.  The comic, by the way, is way more fun when you just wait and see what happens rather than constantly trying to predict it.

Maybe she did that so's to make people speculate on that instead of other things. :3

Aaaaaand the votes are in! It seems that most of you (45.7%, 37 votes) believed that Jyrras broke his mind when Nutmeg blew the spear right past his unsuspecting head. The option that came in close second (with 30.9%, 25 votes) was that Jyrras' mind was screwed over just this moment. Everything else had few votes., though the news of Mab auctioning off her parents came in last.

...
(dammit, I can't do this as well as the admins at sc.org. Maybe I should have asked one of them to handle the poll wrap-up, they do it really well.)

Yay! We have determined that a larger group of people believe one thing that may or may not be true, while several other smaller groups believe several other things that may or may not be true. Whoo we're just like the government only we didn't waste money on this 'very important scientific' study.
