Why is it, with all these apparently fortunate things happening to Dan, that I get the feeling that there's another MASSIVE shoe about to drop?  I know, it's because Amber is writing this comic.  Just you wait, Dan.

Amazons? Topless bluegirl? Sisters!? Dan... you are the luckiest man alive right now...

It took me two read-throughs, but we now know a name. Bluegirl is Shanna.

I'm really likin' the special treatment "hallelujah" got in the last panel. And I couldn't agree with Dan more.

OK, seriously.  Well-drawn comic, yes.  Well-written comic, yes.  Funny comic, yes.

But it's not real.

Do any of you have a clue how juvenile you're making yourselves look by going :erk "lizard boobeez!" :erk

If this were real life, I would make it a point not to be seen anywhere near you guys, in case it's contagious.  I seriously doubt Amber had this in mind when she drew this particular comic, and frankly, you're making me ashamed to share your gender and sexual orientation.

The three ladies may not be real but that does not mean that they are not beautiful.  In fact they are beautiful and if I could, I would want to be in Dan's situation just for a few select minutes (or hours).

After reading this page I still think that Matilda is the perfect fit for Dan...  :mowninja

I want to cast my vote that Dan was mistaken for a girl in this comic.  It would make his vendetta with Dark Pegasis more well rounded.
Title: Re: 03/12/08 [#885] - Hallelujah!

They are beautiful, yes.

Not really my type, though.

My favorite of the three would be the bunny, though honestly, I'd prefer someone of a more predatory persuasion.(Wolves is pretty!  Bunnies, not so much.)  I've developed a liking for red hair recently  :P .

Now, I'm not saying that I object to the strip itself.  It's humerus, well-drawn, does character development, and features female characters who, it's already been said, Amber draws very sexyfully.  I simply wish to make it clear that I don't approve of everyone who is posting just to say

Hey, it's called fantasy - suspension of disbelief.

When someone has the ability to put themselves in a fictional situation, especially one far from reality, it just means that they have an imagination.  It doesn't mean that they aren't in contact with reality.

In my experience, people like that are actually more intelligent, and understand the real world better than those who don't use their imagination (or don't have any).

Funny bone?  As far as being immature, yeah, I suppose some of us are.  But, as someone else mentioned, this is a fantasy comic inspired (or was one to inspire, I forget which) furcadia.  Hello, fantasy land here!

Feh, immature.

Who cares?  What exactly does that mean anyway?  Is a governor hiring call-girls 'mature'?  I've seen supposedly 'mature' people make incredibly stupendous mistakes and ruin their lives forever, while I and my supposed immaturity have made none, and will never make such mistakes because I'm not even vulnerable to the temptations.

And this is a forum for fun anyway, where we worship Amber's art in the vague hope that she will turn her eye upon us and shower us with blessings from below *since she's obviously getting art talent from demons*.

So with that.... OMFG!!!  LEEZARD B00BEEZ!!  TEH SHMEXY!  LULZ!   :B

You ARE the weakest link!  Goodbye!  *vaporized!*

You are correct. But all the chars have been anthropomorphisized, thus acquiring humanlike anatomy. But the reptiles are still not supposed to have boobies (http://www.prime-boobs.ytmnd.com/)! *ker-nerd: part two* :B

Just pretend the last two lines were increasing in size, seeing as it's not an option with this forum. ;)
(It occurs to me that this post could be taken as overtly offensive. It is just intended to point out the flaw in the logic, and I thought it was funnier this way.)

I just realized something when I went looking back through the archives some.
Early on, dan repeatedly makes it clear that he wants to be hooked up with "cute canine friends"
http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_281.php (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_281.php), http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_294.php (http://missmab.com/Comics/Vol_294.php)

Now, I may be going out on a bit of a quite a huge limb here, and we haven't even established if the canine-ish girl is really canine, or hyena, or what, (not to mention this seems to always be connected to arya, and was more of a running joke because of dan's only hearing what he wanted to hear) But heck, slight chance there might be a bit more of a relationship between the two? They did seem awefully cute together.

Buuut then again the bunny-ish girl hugged his wings, and the lizard girl... well obviously dan likes her too, so no idea... just freeform though.

A year or so ago, Amber published some old archival sketches from '99-2000 or so.  IIRC, she said that the succubus who introduced the 'Cubi concept was originally going to be a canine, before she cameoed Aary for the role.  His insistence on canines was left in as a homage to that, or something.

There is a huge amount that can (and probably has been) written about why people can find fictions characters attractive but it boils down to three things

1. Humans are 'programmed' to see patterns, even where there are none, because of this a curved line and two dots can be seen as a face, and human bodies can be represented easily

2.Due to the amount of our brains that is dedicatedly to sexual reproduction (more in men) and the fact that fictions females can be 'perfect' ideals (a line drawing has no imperfections unless there added) means that we can be attracted to things we know aren't real.

3. People can (and will) shag inanimate objects and non-human animals surprising often with no regard to weather the find them attractive or not.

Yep, people are a messed up bunch but these kind of fantasies are harmless if kept in your head or between consenting adults....

There's more that can be said but I won't add it unless asked.

Edit:Grammar repaired

That would make no sense. In theory reptiles shouldnt have normal two legged walking, hair, humanesque reproduction, or the proper vocal chords to emulate human speech.   There is no logic to it being ok to anthromorphize one part of human quality to a reptile character but others are just "too unrealistic"  Its a 5'7" walking talking reptile with blue hair.

When it comes to anthromorphizing, I tend to lean heavily towards more humanesque than animal. Which means save for certain types, the girls have the bewbs, the blood tends to be warm, and the wangs are not freaking animal-wacky.  Not that it matters what wangs are wanging since thats never gonna get featured in this comic, but I am anal retentive enough to cover as many aspects of things as I can...even the naughty bit ones.  Its just how I roll. :U

Too bad you can't see her talons and prehensile tail in this image.  If Niel Gaiman can give a lizard boobs, then that settles it.  Maybe next time he could add nipples.

Well for what it's worth, I'm happier with the current topic.  Now it's just talking about boobs in general, instead of obsessing over a character who sacrificed her cleavage-coverings* and is now more covered with her own hair**.

I'm picky when it comes to boobs.  They should be just right-sized, not too big, not too small, but most definitely, should be the right scale for the girl attached.

*not that they covered her cleavage, per-se, but you know.

**I thought the general rule of thumb was that when a lizard has hair, you should throw it out.

When you say laser or radio wave, are you referring to the method that the mouse uses for detecting motion or the method that mouse uses for communicating with the computer?  I'm not sure, and I have a sneaky suspicion that Amber isn't either.

All of the wireless mice I've seen lately have either been Bluetooth or had their own radio dongle on the computer.

The big thing is to keep Amber happy.  That way, she'll spend less time on the souped up steam-roller which has apparently been equipped with a catapult for launching Acme anvils.  (From what I understand of the posts.)

Personally, I -had- a wireless mouse, and while it was cool and all, it tended to eat batteries like no tomorrow. I eventually went back to a standard optical usb mouse.

Keyboards I tend to have wired anyway, as they usually come with -way- long cables, and I'm not usually anywhere away from a desk, other than with my laptop. And if I'm on my laptop, it's got a keyboard on it anyway, so...

I'll be interested in how you get on, longer term, though. It's been a couple years since I last looked into it, and they may have improved...

I had a wireless mouse and keyboard with a proprietary dongle.  I changed the batteries when the response started getting a little squashy, which was about once a month.  There was no on/off to either the keyboard or the mouse, and they served me well for quite some time.(I keyed five triggers in MW4 to the L,M,R buttons, and wheel up/down and proceeded to visit ownage upon my dad's mechs when we could play.)

more recently, I have a sealed silicone USB keyboard which would theoretically work if submerged in water, though the Shift keys are a bit washy.  I use the mouse that came with my tablet for a mouse, most of the time.

At least, I did until I got a laptop, and now my desktop is having boot trouble due to age, so I primarily use the built-in keyboard and touchpad.  I'm getting really used to a touch pad.  I do have a USB laser mouse, though, which I use when I want to be away from the laptop.(my brother uses his almost exclusively.  We have the same model laptop.)

But what do mice have to do with coloring?  Don't you have a tablet?  Probably a better one than my 4x6 Graphire3.(I'm wanting to save up and upgrade to the large-sized $250 Bamboo Fun, but Nan Desu Kan comes first.)

When it comes to computer graphics, it is very much different pen strokes for different folks.  However, since the Photoshop image only appears on the screen, the tablet doesn't gain you as much.  I can definitely understand minor changes in the mouse being disturbing.  I'm the same way with changing keyboards.  As you become better using the keyboards and pointing devices, very tiny changes become very annoying until you've worked with them for a few hours.  Some of the tiny mice (designed for fitting more easily in laptop bags) may never become comfortable.

hmm, true.  The Bamboo Fun mouse is an odd shape, which will take some getting used to.  I'm still not entirely sure why they designed it like that.

Far cry from the old boxes with buttons.  I remember a 3-button mouse that was roughly the shape and size of a two-deck playing card box.  I still have a joystick that's nothing more than a button on the end of a rod in a square box.

I should get a Gameport->USB adapter.

A mouse the size and shape of a two-deck box would be awkward to handle.  As I recall, the old Sun, HP, Apollo, and Amiga two and three button mice were about the size and shape of a single deck of playing cards.  Which only makes sense, since they were all designed to be held in one hand.
