So she likes going around naked.

I was wondering what would cap the Furrae Fashion portion off.  If there's one thing I've learned about girls, it's that Dan should jump at the chance for a girl like Matilda.  Or run away.  Running away honestly sounds better to me.

I don't know, Matilda is already an entreprenuer(I think thats how you spell it...), and she can breathe fire. Whats not to love?  :)

There is everything to love.

Agreed.  I still say Matilda has all the personality of an oak yacht.

Note for those who may be missing references: Oak Yacht is an anagram of Chakotay, whose wooden relationship with Seven of Nine ruined three other perfectly good relationships.

Voyeuristic girls freak me the **** out.  To be fair, not because of the voyeurism itself, but because that kind of thing never comes without tiny text and hidden costs.  I've concluded when you see the tiny text, it's usually best to be in a different area code.(and here in Colorado, area codes are HUGE!  Mine covers at least 3 cities.  I've only got to call long-distance if I'm calling a Denver number.)

Not to say that Matilda doesn't make a perfectly good friend.  It's always good to have rich friends.

OK... I'll give you Chakotay and Seven, but I think Matilida and Dan make a nice couple.  Besisdes Dan and Mab come across as more like eternal best friends with Mab having a crush on every third guy they meet.

Ah, well, that's probably because we haven't really seen all that much of Matilda, yes?  She's been in two arcs and narrated Furrae Fashion, and never really said enough to actually get to know what she's like (or was just narrating), you know.  Talked about what she was selling and hit on Dan, talked about lunches and cubi and Jyrras and hit on Dan, and narrated.  Nothing we can really get to her from.

It probably would be better if people realized Matilda is making a joke in the last panel, and isn't actually serious.

Well, we can be fairly assured that she at least has a rather outgoing personality. But I don't think that someone who is known to dance semi-naked on rooftops would have any problems with that...

Although, she does have the fairly noticible downside of not being an Amazon  :U

Except that deciding to become a naturalist may be a sign of some other problems.

Well considering that she IS naked, what's wrong about feeling naked?

As somebody who can be critical of characters, I think Matilda is a pretty good one. She is confident and flirtacious. Just because we havn't at one point seen her go emo over her problems like Jyrras or Dan or Abel or Merlitz doesn't mean she lacks depth =P

Hmm yes, fair, but my last girlfriend was serious when she said stuff like that(I've yet to meet a girl who joked about it), and there was plenty of tiny text to go with the freebie, so you'll maybe excuse me by being thrown a bit off-balance by it all.  I'd also like to submit that the joke was funny.

You don't need to be emo to have depth.

But what are her interests?  Her hobbies?  What do we know about her?  She works at the fae link object store, she is friends with Bon, and she is familiar with JyCorp on a professional basis.  Oh, and she thinks pancakes are evil.

That's about it.  I think most people would know more about a person (willingly or not) before even having lunch together.

Eh, not necessarily.  Lots of matchmaking and set-ups from friends are practically blind dating.  Then there are dating services, which probably even tell you less than what we know about Matilda.  Then there's speed dating... all based off of, like, a five-minute discussion.  There are so many ways commonly used for dates that tell you nothing about a person.

Well, Hahwru (http://www.missmab.com/Demo/were.php)'s a confirmed Amazon, and she's got bandages and flatness where her right breast should be.  On the other hand, we've seen amazons with both twins intact, so maybe different tribes do things different ways.

What I ment to say Is I found it interesting that pheniox's modesty was centred around bare throats,  but it does make sense if you think about birds and how they atract mates or what goes on in avian mating.  I wonder if swan based mythos would feel that way about there feet.

And the fact that the insectus compleatly misunderstood the concept of clothing was fairly interesting as well since as a speices with an exoskeleton the Idea that you would need some sort of protective covering would seem so very alien.

I wonder if a young, hip and trendy Insectus who hangs out with beings enough to understand the decorative aspects of fashion might not go in for plating there oxoskeleton with metals like gold or silver,  or studding themselves with gems

Ahh but insects have a differnt sort of circulatory system then almost any other creatures,  Insectis would probably have a mix of insect and mammilian circulatory system probably a partialy closed system similer to crustations.

Warm clothing wouldn't work the same I don't think, and as a subterrianean race earth is one of the best insulaters there is

It is this like of behavior that makes public nudity illegal in most states.  You are missing the point.  You going around naked, because it is a beautiful and nature state to be in.  It is not so you can be overflirtious, and Voyeuristic...That is just bad taste...like dressing slutty.

Matilda's joke is funny, but off the mark, where a naturist's feelings are.  They don't feel like they are being naughty just because they are without clothes.  Social codes still apply in public places if there is a chance that children are/will be present.  Yuffing and heavy petting is still a private affairs with a lover.  Yes, this is some of the small text.

I think there will be a story down the line where Dan and Maltilda will date and talk about each other and then we will finally found about her past.

Yeah.  I'm failing to see the issue there, either.  There's a difference between being happy (or even giddy) about going around naked and getting off on knowing that others are gawking at you.

Me?  I get off on knowing that if there are any peeping toms looking into my apartment when I'm getting dressed, I've blinded them.

I'm pretty sure that if we were going to ask a forum member for nekkid pictures, the PG rated forum isn't where we would do it.

Does that mean it's cool to ask for naked pictures elsewhere?

If that's the case then I am sooooo breaking out my French-Maid outfit.

Yes.  Although it's not alright to nag.

It's topics like these that call for a vomiting emoticon.   :P

And didn't Amber have a question from the readers with 'nekkid pictures of yourself' line?  Now where was that... erf, archive searching again.   :B

EDIT:  Ah!  Here we go!  http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_318.php

Oddly enough... I think that looks more like me.   And after all the exposure to lab chemicals, the color's about right too.  :<

Yeah.  For those of you who really want to see naked pictures of me, you can get a reasonable (albeit female) facsimile in the Venus of Willendorf (should be SFW, though it is technically a nude figurine).

You know with so much in fasion in furrea depending on species fasion designers must be hard pressed to make sometihng with broad apeal or they simply might just focus on a nich market.

and what would the risque kinky sort of looks be?

Spikey collars to look like the bad girl pheniox,  or gauzy sheer chokers for that nymphly naughty bird.

And I bet open toed sandels would be the hight of kinky gear for swans

and for some speices like Matilda's dressing up  might be a step they'd take if they wanted to be sexy for some one.

It's odd but I was picturing Matty in a turtle neck and skirt (in her case it would be more like a horses barding)  but the resulting mental image is rather nice.  Not to say that her au natural look is bad but...

Oddly enough, I had a slightly different mental image.

Take a pair of jeans, or something. And a skirt, or something like that.

And a shirt, that doesn't match either. The end result is someone who's heard about dressing up, but hasn't the faintest idea of how one would go about it, and has ended up picking three totally different items out of the closet and put them on...

.. yeah, I'm peculiar.

Well, You never been on the receiving end of the Mean Girl Fashion Police Raid in the girls restroom in highschool or the "subtle" silent ebil-eye looks across a night club or the formal diner at social events.

Willendorf Venus is really a good luck charm for success in a hunter-garther society.  She is an ideal in that society where chubbiness was a measure of success and fertility.

But still we are going too far believing the Media's ideal woman image which is an fantasy to begin with.  Be healthy, eat healthy, and exercise, the weight will come off on its own.

Sod the weight. Be healthy, eat healthy, and be -happy-.

A happy woman comfortable with her weight is far sexier than one that's obsessed with losing weight. Even if she -is- 30lb "overweight".

I agree.  I think Rubens had it right (at least for women).  But peeping toms might not.

*Charline hmms*  I can understand someone not wanting people to stare at his/her/its neck.  That's a faux pas in leonine society as well.  You see, when a lion is staring at your neck, it's usually thinking of the best way to sink it's fangs in for the kill.   >:3

It is interesting to note that people seems to become happier and less tried when they switch to less fast foods(less sugar, salt, and white bread) and start a little exercise. Like 30 minutes a day of walking or playing some racketball or tennis.   Eat what the body is really looking for, and you feel full and eat less.  Also Attractive is Almost attitude.   When the people were asked who was sexier or more attractive of two posters of the same chubby woman. the one that said "Do you think I'm sexy?" won over the one that said "Should I lose a few pounds?"

Besides skipping meals makes you crabby

Yeah.  I'm failing to see the issue there, either.  There's a difference between being happy (or even giddy) about going around naked and getting off on knowing that others are gawking at you.

Well, as we can see examples of around the world, it's a very cultural thing. In some of the more primative tribes, the 'societal rules' about decency can vary a lot. Some might have only the crotch covered for both sexes. Some might also have cover for the breasts for females, and some are just grab-bag.

If western society didn't make such a big deal out of nudity, then you'd probably see more of it. Then you have the more extreme things like the burkhas(SP?) of the Arabic region. It's accepted (mostly) and even desired by some, but to others in other places, it seems to be ridiculous and overkill.

So when it comes down to it, it's cultural and societal (And perhaps even class-based as well). When you throw in the added complication of different species, well...
