Stop falling apart!

Stop stealing my dialogue, knave.

considering that you're never in chat these days, somebody has to fulfill the role as "He who yells at Turnsky for his own good"

Neat.  I'm assuming you used to make RTS maps, right?  :P
I somehow get the feeling that you didn't think your cunning plan all the way through.

Thanks go to Kipiru and Rhyfe for the art work used in avatars.

If I might make a suggestion...

... the large lakes in the middle of the image there don't appear to have any incoming or outgoing water flow. This is... unusual. Even Lake Taupo, in New Zealand, has visible water flow, even if they're somewhat small. And that's a darn sight smaller than those lakes, I'd guess.

Interestingly, Lake Taupo shows up as black on here. I wonder what it looks like from a plane...

true, i'm really concentrating on the actual land mass itself, i'm gonna add the details such as coastlines, rivers, etc after i've gotten them down.

Mao

Hmm, aren't there are lakes that exist without an feeding river or anything visible like that?  I could have sworn that there were and that most of the time they're former mining operations that have been allowed to fill up, or the result of underground water flows that have managed to breach the surface.  I'm no expert on this stuff though.

llearch n'n'daCorna

Two points, Mao.

One, we're not necessarily talking about inflow - there's rivers leading away from these things, too. Otherwise you end up with the Dead Sea type thing.

Two, there might be, but not on a scale with Lake Erie. ;-]

yes but you know when she is happy, one begins to worry for their own well being.

My birthday was almost a month ago!  You shouldn't have!   :eager

I think this will, with a bit of editing make an excellent wallpaper.  :D

I was about to say.  Someone being happy isn't always a good thing, and she strikes me as one of those...

Anyway, I don't know how I missed this update, but I definitely have to second Mao on the wallpaper idea.

One question, what are the wings made of?  Perhaps it's because I can only shade highlights, but I would have thought that leathery wings would have a little more sheen to them.  That's my only critique.

real leathery wings don't shine that much. have a look at bat wings.

I'll have to dig up my references.  I'm not thinking they should be tanned and polished exactly, but in your example bat they do seem to have more in the way of highlights than Milnea has.

maybe, but then again i try to not overdo highlights sometimes, this particular style of highlighting can end up making it look like plastic if one overdoes it.

Yes.  It's been a bit of a balancing act for me and I'll tend to err on the side of shiny :rolleyes

Yes, I am following that one :P

Incidentally, this is more what I was thinking of:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3f/Golden_crowned_fruit_bat.jpg

...what we're seeing with the folds at the bottom of the picture (and thus the top of the bat) is kind of what I've been trying to do with Dorcan's wings.  But yes, it's easy to overdo that.
