This comic does not deserve the press it's getting.

So some moron decided to make a 'satirical' comic about Assassin's Creed Producer Jade Raymond. (NSFW)

Not that insulting femininity should be some gloriously out-of-bounds topic akin to child porn and beastiality, but for God's sake, it's not even a good comic. It's poorly drawn, poorly plotted, pornographic, and on top of all that it's done by the guy who does Chugworth Academy. The only thing he has going for him period is how to draw jailbait, and since he managed to screw that up on this page, I can't even defend a piece of trash like this on artistic merit. It's not funny, it's not even clever, and it certainly isn't satirical.

... of course, Ubisoft didn't really help by sending out a C&D and inadvertently causing this thing to blow up into full-on drama. Then again, the artist bragging about "Making Jade Cry" doesn't inspire a whole lot of pity either.

OK, that's rather insulting, and the author should be ashamed of himself.  That's a low blow to declare a game that's not even available to play as only selling because the producer is a woman.  Ubisoft hasn't been doing anything to promote the producer of the game as spokeswoman for it(that I've seen) so it's a baseless accusation even if he had had a chance to play the game and judge it by it's merit.

--edit--

also, a slap in the face of the hard working team of programmers, artists, writters, and so forth to tell them thier work is only selling because thier producer is a girl.

I realy don't see what point the comic creator is trying to get across here...  other then implying that a pretty girl is too dumb to make games.

what are they saying that the producer is riding on her looks to get people to buy the game?  I haven't seen any advertising that seems to play up on that.  I've seen a number of comercials for assasins creed that are realy well don though and it looks like a good game.  and I'm not just saying that cause the produccers a girl

I just don't get it

The names Assasin's Creed and Ubisoft are familiar to me. I do not know this "Jade", Chugworth Academy or the merry fellow who made that comic.
The art is medicore, at best. The script sucks and is just plain disgusting. If there's supposed to be a joke in it, it fails beyond comparison. Whatever it is, it ain't satire. Just a plain insult. The same effect would have been by just calling Ms Raymond a slut. I'd have made the artist look more intelligent.

Thanks Jigsaw, for wasting 30 seconds of my time by showing me this. I could've made a sandwitch instead reading that Awful piece of trash.

Any time. Speaking of wastes of time, how long did it take you to reply to this post?  :P

I never heard of the game, the company, or anything else related to this.  So I didn't even bother reading the comic cuz it wouldn't make any sense regardless.

Now, if it were well-drawn pr0n...  >:3

Wow. I never thought it was possible for a comic to be full-blown bullshit for every single one of its panels.

Hi there. I've played Assassin's Creed. Friends of mine have heard me rant about it. And it is a fantastic game; very entertaining, with good graphics, nice controls, and high replay value. Plus, the plot is great, although since I enjoy fictionalized versions of historical real-world environments it sort of played on my weaknesses. And just so people don't think I'm simply heaping on mindless praise, yes, the game does have flaws. Such as the gameplay can be somewhat repetitive... but that's a different topic all together.

And no, I didn't know the producer was a girl initially. Actually, I was entirely unfamiliar with the team of designers behind Assassin's Creed.

QuoteThen again, the artist bragging about "Making Jade Cry" doesn't inspire a whole lot of pity either.

Not to mention, from what you've said, the creator sounds like a douche. I don't see why he should be proud. Hell, congratulations from me would probably be heavily laced with sarcasm and go as mentioned: "Oh yes, I'm positively thrilled for you, sir! You drew an insulting, tasteless, and humorless comic lambasting a game you probably haven't even played and a producer you've probably only heard a small bit of information about! Bravo!"

The author should stop trying to be VG Cats. Their most offensive, over-the-head comics have been more clever than this. End of story.

If memory serves correctly, the artist's pr0n stuff before starting Chugworth wasn't that bad, actually. But this thing... egh. *shrugs helplessly* Let's just say that I'm not terribly amazed.

What he said.

I don't know if I'm supposed to be taking this seriously, ironically, or in some sort of meta-irony where the irony is supposed to be a sarcastic parody of how someone would write an ironic strip like this.  Whoever wrote the strip is really not very successful in getting his point across.  Or maybe he really is just a troglodyte, and I'm just reading too much into this.

That said, the art isn't that bad.  Personally, I don't like ligne claire, but this is sort of the new digital ligne claire (which I also hate).  I see the same sort of drawing from people like Greg Dean, and I'm not about to call his art crap.

Come, now.  There have to be a couple of panels where the bullshit isn't that bad.  The last one, for example.  And a couple of the ones where he just repeated the bullshit from a previous panel.

EDIT: Also, where has this been getting press?  This is the first I've heard of it.

What? Assassin was made by a woman?
Ah well.
The real reason it'll sell is the same reason as nearly all XBOX and PS3 games:
You're a "one man army" and you get to kill. Lots and lots of times. Oh, and you do it secretly ala ninja style. Everyone loves that.

If it doesn't deserve press, Jig, why are you giving it press?

Heh. I knew there was a reason I wanted to stop reading Chugworth Academy.

Uh oh.

I think I've run across something that will result in a good old-fashioned torch-and-pitchfork internet mobbing.

Pornface in panel 4.  That's right, Chugworth is in the same category as Greg Land, who apparently traces porn.

I was about to say the same thing...then I read the comic.

After the initial "OH DEAR GOD MY VIRGIN EYES", I agree with Jig. The art is pretty good, but the topic... Ugh. So what if the producer's a girl? This seems like a lowbrow joke trying to be highbrow. Not even, actually. I thought chauvinistic humor like this had died.
