Travels with a Kitsune (always open) [Chapter 3: The gate of water]

"I am going to head deeper into the caves." He said after watching the monitors for a while trying to figure them out and starts to bound down the caves.  After a while, probably 10 min., a loud yelp comes from deep in caves as he gets caught in a trap and taken away by some grunts and knocked out.

Oh crap seems like someone is up ahead of us

"Mel has a point Digital man. powerful unknown people in an unknown but proven dangrous situation is not reasuering. oddly enogu i think that he san you use madic to all up the cookies and that he belise that topher is the none normal kitty here. he is form the fire tribe and out side of his tapped form he seems pretty normal." E thinks. " so wheere of topher nad moonsoul? i thoutl they'd be back by now"

DM's body is up and moving before he's even conscious again. A red glow from the lenses of his shades indicates that he's awake and more than just a little mad. The metal on the bottom of his boots makes an ominous clang with each step as he walks deeper into the cave, following the path Snuggles just took.

"It would appear that it is time to destroy." It's clear that his strategy is simple; the best defense is to make sure there are no enemies left.

"I'm fairly certain that you won't be the last, biggest, nor most frightening surprise, Mel." This time it's K2 using the CameraBot as a remote speaker. "But that kid isn't the one that should be running."

e  contemplates for a moment. that tone of voice reminded him of some one. e sets hes scanners on and auto sweep mover as the faces the cave he whisper to Gospel as well. "help me keep watch okay? " the wolf growls and remains stationery.

guard: alright. 27 want's to have a word with you, by the way. *mutters* you and your damn puns.

*looks worriedly to MoonSoul*
*attempts to whisper to MoonSoul through their connected thought*
"Psst, I'm just going to follow your lead.  I don't want to cause a disruptance"
*follows the gaurd*

[Mel Dragonkitty]

Mel goes to DM's monitors to see if she can figure out what set him off. It takes her a minute to figure out what she's looking at. "I guess Moonsoul overstated the safety of these caves, e. Unfriendlies to the back and they got the kid."

[Kitsune Ascendant]

*transmits the entire "story that happened in the field to tophar so that he can re-tell it from 359's eyes*
*as the guard leads us to our supervising agent, 421 begins figiting nervously. unsure whether he was goingto be praised or reprimanded for his "actions".  as he enters, though, he sees that 27 does not appear angry in any fassion, which is always a good sign with him. 359 is asked to wait outside*

27: I have already heard preliminary reports of your work in the field tonight. I must say I am impressed with the calm manner which you handled what could have been a very dangerous situation.  however, I have not heard anything of 359's actions tonight, and would like to get your version.

421: 359, to my knowledge, performed to expectation. After I filled him in on the traps, he carefully cross-examined the area as per protocal, marking a few traps that I myself had missed. he also discovered remnants of an animation spell on the statue, which is likely the reason it appeared life-like enough to force a reaction. we have left the traps marked for a specialist team to handle when ready.

27: very well. if your story checks out, you and 359 may be in for a promotion. in the mean time, I want you to handle a recent capture by 332 and 401. small, panther like creature. they want to kill it outright, but Boss Vlad recognized it as one a wind tribe, and it will sell nicely on the delxarian slave market. see that it is prepared for such. 359 will join you shortly. you are to dismiss them of this by my authority on arrival. understood?

421: Yes sir.

27: dissmissed

*as 421 walks out of 27's office tent, towards the east position. he approaches 332 and 401*

421: you two are dismissed. I will take over care and guard for this creature.

332: by who's authority?!

421 (calmly): 27. direct order. you can check with him yourself if you don't believe me.

401 (muttering): damn beast otta be slaughtered like the animal it is.

421: what was that?

401: nothing, nothing. c'mon, 332, we've got other work we need to be doing.
*332 and 401 walk off, clearly annoyed but not daring to question the will of such a high ranking officer*

401: alright, creature, this way. the less you struggle, the less I hurt you. vlad wants you in prime shape for next week's auction.
*opens a competely undetectible telepathic connection with snuggles*
<don't worry little guy. It's just me, Moonsoul. I can't do much for you right now without giving away my disguise, but I'll have this place in my grip by sundown tomorrow, and you'll be safe enough until then. I know you've had a lot of surprises since my arrival, many of them not so good. hopefully this is one of the more pleasent ones. keep up the act, though. they watch the grunt and the prisoners like hawks.>

*As soon as MoonSoul had finished talking with Snuggles, Topher quickly opens up the telepathic connection between the two*

"MS, whats the plan.  Now we have two cases to take care of.  Should I take care of Snuggles, or should we both release the captives one at a time once its safe?"

E is up and dashing as soon as the word process. he follows the ion trail left but Digital man wondering whats could have happened. if digital man had anywhere near the power E suspected he could be able to handle a few unfriendlies with out help. mean while Gospel  goes on high alter standing at the entrance of the cave his power core  reeving for battle.

<once we've worked our way up to the top you'll be able to release them all at once. but that's a few days away. I'm going to target 170 and 143 as the next peope to replace. they'll be part of the special team tomorrow, so we can catch 'em then. I'll keep illusion clones as the grunts so that we keep the illusion up. until tomorrow night>

alright 359. We take alternate watches of the this block, paying special attention to the panther anthro. keep it in line, but don't leave any permanent marks. anyways, I'll take first watch.

[Snuggles]

After Moonsoul is done speaking with snuggles, he goes unconscious. Just now waking up again he finds himself in a different place. A little confused by what he is seeing. "Murrr? what is going on." In a little bit scare and whimpering tone of voice.

Hmmm Moon can I ask you a question?

DM follows the cave until he reaches the other entrance used by the enemy. He stares out into the forest, most displeased. If he were to go levelling block-sized pieces of land it would likely interfere with Moonsoul's plan. The kitsune didn't seem to fancy the idea of mass homicide anyways.

Deciding he'd better make sure no one else came around to cause trouble, he sets up a 'minor' death trap. Considering the magical nature of the kitsune these fools were after, they would likely not expect high-density explosives. Or lasers. Or plasma blasts. Or...

DM shakes himself out of his 'mad inventor' mode before he can put in too much overkill. He looks at his masterpiece; anyone nearing that part of the cave would find it most unpleasant. It's a shame he wouldn't get to witness it firsthand, but he knew he would get to cause much destruction later.

Back at his monitor array, a holographic wireframe image appears; a machine in roughly the shape of a dragon, with angular armor. Various numbers and messages litter the three-dimensional display, as though running some kind of diagnostic program.

*nods and stands at the corner of the building, relaxing a little, thinking over his thoughts*

E sees digital man's back as he   closes in on him. "Hey DM  can i get a status report?"

[Zedd]

Where on earth are we going now?

[DigitalMan]

DM hears E behind him, and tilts his head. A status report? A status report.

"That's a loaded question."

He always did have a problem figuring out what information was important and relevant. He turns to face E, speaking in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Snuggles has been taken as a prisoner, which leaves him in Moonsoul's hands for now. There do not appear to be any more enemy units in the cave. This secondary entrance seems to face West, and has been rigged with a great deal of destructive mechanisms to ensure the death of anyone who goes near it. On a directly related note, I would suggest not using this entrance. Currently, K2 and I are making preparations to destroy the enemy base as soon as Moonsoul gets everyone out safely. I advise that everyone find some sunglasses. Also, the cave seems to be made out of some kind of limestone; fairly standard, but stable and secure with little apparent risk of cave-ins. Winds are from the Southwest at five to ten miles per hour. Expect partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of rain in the early morning hours. Pollen count is moderate-low. That is all the information I have when away from my monitors."

Of course, had he been at his monitors, he surely would have gone on until someone hit him over the head with something heavy.

E nodded the report had told he all he wanted to know including that DM was planing to  unleash incendiary force against the base still E felt that he should help as well as he brings his reactor core up to 5o% of normal Digital man's sensors pick up and energy reaction  smaller to a 300megaton nuclear bomb. "Very well. when the time for striking comes i i would like to assist.

*as night fell, moonsoul opened a telepathic link with tophar*

<toph, it's about time we switched watches. this is probably the best time for me to leave my coppies playing the grunts. we'll discuss the rest of the plan when you get here>

*closes that communication, and opens a second one to digitalman*
<I'm going to need some traps set up to cover my story. exploding artstones, proximity triggered vortexes, the type of stuff some kitsune rebels would put up. I'll also need a kitsune statue. mark all of them with beacon stones of these specification *sends dm the specification* the specialist team from here will be checking it out tomorrow morning, so you should have enough time, even if you have a robot hand-carve the statue. and when the time comes, we'll all blow this place up so much the explosions will create a dimension of their own>

[Snuggles]

In a wimpering voice, "Hello?... Is anyone there?... I need some food." Looking around the room and not trying to mess things up for Moonsoul.

ye'll get your food when everyone else does. thirty minutes from now, and don't expect anything fancy. we run a tight ship here.
